Before Katy Perry became big she was sent by their record company to go preform with them so she could see what a huge show would be like. She sounds different because this was a hella long time ago.

@etdizzle indeed there is a live performance of YC and katy perry, its true its a fact.

I've done a number of music studies and i van assure you that the voice in this song is not katy perry. Voices get trained and more advanced but they do not change, if you compare this voice to the dixie chicks singer you will find that it is the same although a few octaves lower, probably due to the fact that live singing is really really really hard.

It is her, the record company sent her to do the gig before she even signed with the label, this was her first appearance. Nobody knew who she was when this was recorded. The actual live preformance is recorded. thought she did an awesome job. :)

@goddaorx It actually is. This is a different one than the studio version from Lights and Sounds. This particular acoustic recording was Katy believe it or not, quite a while ago when she wasn't famous.
