It doesn't even matter that he hasn't got the most wonderful voice in the world...he has so much passion, and power for the words he's singing. It's wonderful.
when he did this, it struck the audience big time...this was only a TINY PORTION of how good the entire play(s) were!
i met him after a couple of the shows, and he was very nice to everyone. VERY open yet very soft-spoken. i said "Viggo you did an excellent job w/ every poerformance", he was signing something for someone and said "Thank you i appreciate that, but i hope you guys didnt find it to be overly long" i said "no way,we loved it."
Wish I had the ability to stand up on stage in front of public and zillions of tube users. He has a very strong impressive and touching voice. All respects from here.
Viggo's interest just varies he has passion for many things and succeeds in everything he does. His voice here isnt the best but he's still a winner, you gotta respect that. I hope he never changes with the more fame coming to him... when he wins the Oscar ;)
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
Luke 20:46 (or there abouts, depending on translation. I like the new international version) Bob Dylan "Talkin' World War III Blues" was this guy drafted before? I can relate.

Glad someone has got the time to realize what is going on! War and suffering shouldn't be allowed!

Guess what hippy. There will always be war. There will always armys and death. To die in battle is the greatest honour for many men. So why dont you save your self righteous phony caring for the 'poor downtrodden troops' and remember that these men VOLUNTEERED to be in the army. They want to be sent to battle. Its there job. Its what they trained for and its why they joined in the first place.
First of all, I'm NOT a hippy. Second of all, the only reason people o to war is to fight other ppeople who go to war, who are there to fight other peopel who go to war.
I'm not saying that some wars (WWII) weren't just, but that war itself is not PLEASANT. Also, why DON'T you join the army if it is so valiant??
Viggo Mortensen ha grabado discos bastante interesantes, y esta versión del "Masters of war" de Bob Dylan es muy valiente y bonita. Y si es por una buena causa, genial!
Was this in Boston on January 9th? Viggo is a great guy - I thank him so much for helping Kucinich in New Hampshire and for having the courage to speak out and act against the war and injustice in the world. Peace.
true man. I like his voice..but..no. don't like this. He is ruing it. I don't blame him for it anything though, I mean no one can ever sing it the way bob is sings it. no one ever will.
He voice is perfect for FOLK MUSIC. I hope he continues to perform more folk music ( american & international), as folk is my favorite style of music and he sings it so very well !!!!!!!!!
I'm curious as to why Vitto is singing "Masters of War"? He's no Eddie Vedder that's for sure lol, but it isn't the most terrible thing i've heard...but like I said, i'm wondering why an actor is singing this legendary song? I'm not familar with this is from...
Viggo performed the song for a taping of The People Speak, a television program celebrating and highlighting Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States." It was recorded January 8-9, 2008 in Boston. He sang, rather than simply reciting the lyrics, because he is an outspoken and passionate voice against the war. Everything he says and does is with heart.
The story is that Bob Dylan wrote and recorded this song before Eddie Vedder was born. And Kurt Cobain didn't write "The Man Who Sold The World", David Bowie did :-)
It is strange to hear that a voice that special can carry so much emotion. You may think he doesn't know how to sing. That's what i was thinking till i heard Envidia... than i understood.
His voice i just as his other talents: special, but vibrant and powerful.
You must be a man - because for us women, Viggo is a Yummy Kitten Mansicle, His Holy Hotness, a wanton sex god! But either you dig him or you don't - it's chemistry.
A bit about Viggo - He's a highly talented actor nominated for an Oscar in "Eastern Promises" he's a poet, painter, actor, political activist for human rights causes not just a shallow Hollywood celebrity or wild party boy type.
Although he may not be the most talented vocalist, his minimalist performance stirred and moved me. He sings/speaks with raw emotion and conviction that it's almost chilling.
He is such a shining spirt. Too bad Rep. Dennis Kucinich pulled out of the presidential campaign - but I'm so grateful Viggo campaigned for him. Such a talented actor, singer, poet, writer musician and Wanton Sex God - I think I've seen LOTR a zillion times! Aragon just iced it for me.
So pure and raw with emotion and truth! This song was the perfect performance for Viggo--it has such meaning now it gives me chills. I have admired Viggo for years and it is a moment like this that reminds me why.
I really like the Native American flavour in the beginning. And I love that there is no accompaniment. It is there, bare, and unforgiving. Beautifully sung, and with passion. I miss music being like this.

Try and look up "Bob Dylan Masters of War" here on youtube - Viggo and Dylan actually have the same sound throughout most of the song.
Plus, singing a song like this acapella - takes a lot of courage, it is a hard song.
Hats off for Viggo.
Sorry he didn't get his Oscar, but there is absoultely no shame in loosing to Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood (!) :)
