After reading the intro to the book, I pictured the garage being in a worse part of town. As one who is all too familiar with the city (I lived across the street from that 7-11 on B'way and Lombard ) I'm thinking alot of that "last day I used" chapter was a compilation of many days/events. For example, there are no K-marts in downtown Balt. I'll also bet that he did the dick sucking.
That garage looks like it might be in Mt. Vernon. In the book he says that it was 8 blcks from moms house

@lesterclaypool1 God bless Novak. He is a pro-dope fiend. He probably ended up far better off in the long run by befriending Bam and Co than he would have done by just being some skate kid from Balt. He found the right crew of Kerouac wannabes to tell the amalgam of his (and whoever else's) memoirs to, and cashed in. I also find him to be extremely funny on the Stern Show on his random appearances.
Bam, on the other hand, comes off like a major spoiled little suburban douche.

I say legalize all drugs. Current trends in rehabilitation include the family in the rehab process so that the home doesn't get broken up, why are we not considering this in sentencing addicts?
