One of the best songs from the high and mighty album from uriah heep. wetton sings at his best. no comparison with mr. david byron please. just listen "confession" from the same album, byron sings like an angel. im said.
Hey, i was there too, in London, 2001 as part of the Magician's Birthday Party. I remember we had to go to a different venue for this one, with bouncers taking their job too seriously and snatching away camera's.. Good someone could film it. I do recall seeing the videocamera on the tripod. So you were the taper:)
Ken had a cold that weekend, hence his voice not being able to hit the high tones. There were a couple of Wetton classics played there too .

@SpriThis passage is taken from Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum page 484 chapter 93
The only society known to us capable of rivaling us in these arts is that of the Jesuits. But we have succeeded in discrediting the Jesuits in the eyes of the stupid populace, because that society is an open organization, whereas we stay in the wings, maintaning secrecy. Protocol, v ntimeboy
I like it! Saw these guys in Tulsa about 1975 just before this album was made. It was the best sounding concert I ever heard. I think Dave Byron was sick the day this song was originaly recorded so, Wetton took the lead and Hensley the chorus. Thanks for the memories!!!

@emiliosg Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
@emiliosg 'I do not like the reappearance of The Jesuits ... If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in hell, it is this society of Loyola's. Nevertheless, we are compelled by our system of religous toleration to offer them an asylum.' John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S.A
@emiliosg these passages are from page #17 of The Companions of Jehu written by Alexandre Dumas pere--"Sir, I have heard speak of the Companions of Jesus," replied the magistrate with his jeering smile. "The Jesuits, you mean? That is not what I am seeking, sir."....Elisha consecrated Jehu King of Israel, on condition that he exterminate the house of Ahab; Elisha was Louis XVIII; Jehu was Cadoudal; the house of Ahab, the Revolution.
Well I'll be...!! I never knew Wetton sang lead on this: I thought it was just a side of Byron he'd never shown B4! It makes sense though, especially after watching this vid.
The audio seems slightly out of sync, but this is still excellent stuff!
THIS IS JOHN WETTON! YEAH!

It wouldn't have been Uriah Heep as we know them if it hadn't been Ken Hensley as the composer who wrote all the greatest hits we love
