  • the first sonic game

  • loved tht game

  • NOSTALGIA

  • i think this is the same game for the game gear!!! lol

  • Isn't this one PAL?

  • Sega Master System rocks. This game rocks. The catchy sound in this game rocks.

  • u cant play worth a dime doh :p

  • Needs moar Blast Processing.

  • Omg this takes me back sooo many years ago =]

  • why is it like half the normal speed

  • not bad for the sms.

  • THIS is the real deal! The best sonic game ever!

  • Man I thought the first Sonic came was only released on the Genesis. (Mega Drive in Europe I believe.)

  • you can tell this is not an emulation because of the picture quality and the border outline, great game, i just cant get a feel for 8 bit music too much lol

  • subscribe

  • omggg i used to love playin thiss

  • I need to get my master system out of the closet. I have at least 50 games for it. This included.

  • I had a Master System but I never realized that there was a version of this game for the MS. I only played Sonic on my Genesis.

  • U missed all the secret boxes!!! Sahme on you. lol

  • Can I ask did they remake this game for the Mega Drive(Genesis)? because I never had a Master System but I'm old enough to remember the Mega Drive and I remember the cartridge was the same as any other Mega Drive game.

  • @harvesterofsorrow111 The original was Sega Mega Drive / Genesis. This version was released in October 25, 1991, and the original was released in June 23, 1991 (North American and European stores). This game only took three level names from the original; the rest are extremely changed.

  • nice ..

  • Die Musik ist sooo geil....

Man ich will noch mal klein sein...

  • I used to play this game!!!!! It was hard, but so much FUN! CLASSSICCCC!

  • I'm so pathetic. I didnt know the SEGA Master System was an 8 bit console until 10 minutes afo. I totally thought SEGA debuted with the Genesis. *crawls away*

  • the master system 2 was my first (real) console after the gameboy. i loved this game and it's still working today, good quality :)

btw: as a child i found out that in the very first level with the power shoes and invincibility you can run as fast as the screen can't follow you any more ;)

  • what do you use to record videogames

I know you dont use emulators so you obviously dont use anything like fraps

  • the poor quality and the vhs sound buzz reminds me of such nice memories...

  • I played Sonic 2 on the Game Gear, and didn't know they even made it or Sonic for the Master System, still, it is pretty good, my only complaint is no rings for the Boss Fights :( even though I saw some idiot on-line say this game is unplayable!

  • It seems soooooo Many years when I had that game, wheres the time time gone its flown by

  • What is this, the european version? The music is so slow.

  • these games are training for the challenge of the next gen games ;)

  • Surprisingly good game. Love those colourful 8-bit graphics.

  • i thaught the first sonic games was the one on the megadrive, well... i guess i was wrong

  • @ReeceIsDaWord no you are right this was released later the same year. If it had come out a few years earlier then who knows, perhaps the master system would have had a better market share. Well better in the U.S over here in europe Sega were kicking Nintendos arse.

  • I had this on my Game Gear, never knew it was the exact same game on the Master System until years later.

  • On Which Sonic is the Kite level ?

  • @scottyuk18

on sonic the hedgehog 2, i have this game and part 2 here standing beside me :)

  • is this an emulator?

  • @ToKewl4U1

No its not a emulation. None of my videos are run from emulators.

  • PAL version, right?

  • Sonic was so much more 8-bit on the MS. I think this game did more to sell "16-bit" as a selling point

  • omg you just ran by the extra life and als the rings you already could have 5 lives

  • This is where it all began for me... along with Bubble Bobble and Alex Kidd. :)

  • i see why no one remember this old version , because we don't want to, the genisis version was better

  • I used to play this when I was a Kid. Awesome!

  • is this a homebrew?

  • @jimmyclassy no, there's an 8 bit version of sonic, if you didn't know.

  • Seeegaaa!

    Yay,retro stuff!

  • one of my favourite games of all time

  • this game is awesome

  • Did this come out before the Genesis version? It looks pretty sharp for an 8 bit game.

  • az egyetlen konzolom, akkora csúcs volt ez a játék anno.

  • my first console!!!!!!

  • Crazy how not a lot of people know about the 8 bit sonic games. Most people just know of sonic from the genesis.

  • Whoa! That's way different from Sega Genesis, lol! The music sounds all slow too, haha. I kinda like it though

  • i suck at this game

  • i had this for my master system when i was a kid, i remember i was disapointed because i thought you would be able to play a tales :-(.... but i played the game loads anyway ;-)

  • i beat this level in 39 secs

  • absolute classic the foundation for greater sonic games to come!

  • It is.

  • Ooh ok. That explains it then. Thanks!

  • Is the reason why this is different to how I remember Sonic, because it is on the Sega Master and not the Sega Mega Drive? I used to have the Mega Drive.

  • sega genesis is better!

  • great game. i just got it for the wii virtual console.

  • this seems like what sonic the hedgehog wouldve looked on the NES.

  • wow. the master system theme is... nondescript. the gameplay is slow. that's okay. the game is fine.

  • Well of course what would you expect when cramming a 16 bit game into a tiny 8-bit version

  • The framerate in this video is slow. The game is supposed to go at a crisp 60 FPS, which this emulation of the game isn't for some reason.

  • I live in Australia and we used 50hz not 60hz. Hence the slow frame rate and music. Only way to get it up to speed is installing a 60hz switch on your desired console.

  • I forgot about that, thanks.

  • @ThatRetroGamerDude So does here in Europe.

  • @SoApBoX Its obviously the PAL version. Has nothing to do with emulation.
