  • Are those 2 different size sticks ??

  • @jahhorkle good eye.....It sure looks like the big stick is in his left hand. Makes sense the ride stick is smaller. Love the space in his solo. Takes courage and wisdom not to fill in every space with speed. Love it. John-Hans Melcher

  • The great Frankie Dunlop!

  • This dude is so cool

  • You are wrong saying that Papa Jo Jones is forgotten. He is "Unforgettable"! and not only by real drummers but by ordinary jazz fans as well( me including).

  • wheres the rest of this recording? is this right at the start of the solo?

  • By real drummers Papa Jo is not forgotten.

  • You can actually hear him playing the chorus in his solo!

  • Oh man this is incredible. I always loved Frankie Dunlop and wondered why he didn't get more props, but I have never seen him play until now.

  • Another great solo from a forgotten Jazz Master.

  • Hey Mark...you asked me to look up Papa Jo Jones sometime ago...I did so! PJJ is a genius! His stick handling is breath taking and he does it all with an effortless smile! Superb!

  • Hi Frank - yes Papa Jo is one of the old timers that most people have forgotten about, like Frankie, but what an absolute Monster. A true Jazz legend.
