@limwang75 they make you use a quarter so the store doesn't have to hire some brat like you to round up carts in the lot all day. And it also keeps losers like you from running the carts into cars in the lot.
Besides, you get the quarter back when you're done with the cart, so quitcher bitchin and let Mommy do the shopping without having to listen to you whine.
I live in upstate NY and we have 5 Aldi stores. I just love them. They are so well organized and their product is great and reasonably priced. Next month they are bringing their other store into this area. The name of the other store is: "Trader Joe's" and we are looking forward to them.
I don't have all those sauces at my Aldi. My Aldi leans towards hispanic flavors because of the demographics in this area... I wish they did have those sauces.
My family uses Aldi in the UK. The thing that amazed me was looking at their fruit and veg. When I go into the major supermarkets their fruit and veg come from all around the world. Went to Aldi and its nearly all from within a 40 mile range of my house so they are using local farmers which the big boys skip because the farms are too small.
ALdi gets their fruit and veggies from the SAME warehouse that WalMart, Krogers, SaveALot get theirs from. ALl fruit in the US goes to 1 of 4 large fruit warehouses period....
@whitesoxfanforsure shop at american store like walmart kroger and buy brand name food stay away from aldi if u valur ur life kids health fuk this ppor ppl store
apples are apples, strawberries are strawberries....their products DAIRY products come from the SAME DAIRY FARM as where Krogers buys their DAIRY PRODUCTS FROM. SAME SAME SAME
@whitesoxfanforsure Not in the UK, its different here. In the UK you have to say where produce comes from, and depending on the produce even down to the farm.
You can look at the packaging in the large stores and see the country of origin and nearly all of them are not even within the EU never mind the UK.
In Aldi its down to UK countys and most of them are within 2 countys of me.
As a note, in the UK Walmart owns Asda (big chain) and they suck.
Can anyone do me a favour. The nextime you go to aldi. Look at the Jam, Ice tea. All the processed fruit products. And Tell me if it came from Paderborn Germany.
aldi is awful dont shop there anymore after a year of shopping there got really scummy in there stuff as it does not last long "food" and i returned alot of there electrical cheap shit makes and the selection is boring, Now its all Costco all the way could not be more happy, Fuckn love going to that place! Thanks VJ you know who you are buddy :)
@THEKINGS001 Weird, UK Aldi is fantastic. Their fresh fruit and veg is all local (lancashire), as is their meats. Tried their cereal, deserts, and yorkshire puddings - all of its fine.
A bottle of Fanta from Tesco,Asda etc is about £1.80.A bottle of Aldi orange aid which is really good is only 49p.I bought a chocolate fudge cake from Aldi yesterday for £1.49.It's lovely.Free range eggs ther are about half the price of waitros eggs.
@grizzlybear0 Try their fruit and veg mate. Used to shop at Morrisons and the bloody stuff was going off after 4 days. At Aldi it lasts a week longer and its all UK produce - in fact cos im up in Lancashire i'd say 3/4s is all my counties farms.
OK truthfully, I bought a bag a sweet onions this week, got them home and they are rotten. I bought putrid food from there PERIOD~~ The FDA needs to know about them selling rotten food. I guess they get there food in crates, and let it set or something. WAL MART does not let their food set, IT IS ALWAYS FRESH AT WALMART, expecially their whole produce department. I am starting to hate ALDI's, and besides!! they are no cheaper than WalMart. WalMart has matched pricing, ALDIs does not!!!
althought they come in bags, you can still look at the product and judge for yourself the quality, i think calling the FDA is a bit much for one rotten pack plus you can take it back for a refund.
I started shopping at Aldi when they first opened here. I get a good percentage of my weekly groceries there, because the products I have tried are as good a quality as the name brands, some even better. The produce prices are great, with bananas at 39cents a lb. Avocados are only 49 cents each this week. I like going in and finding the occasional surprise, when say, something like a pound of strawberries is 99 cents. Good store, especially in this economy, helps to balance the budget.
I worked at Aldi for 5 years in management in the US. Couple comments. First, there are many items at Aldi that are made by name brand companies,Aldi pays for privates label so they can sell it cheaper. In blind taste tests, Aldi brands have actually out ranked name brands. Also, the reason why things are in boxes and on pallets is to save money on labor. So much easier/ faster for an employee to park a pallet than to unload it. Aldi is all about ergonomics. I loved my job there. Kudos Aldi!!
aldi is the shit, i have saved so much money. They dont have everything, but the staple items are always good and a hell of a lot cheaper then the retail super markets. I think people turn their nose up at Aldi just because they have been brainwashed to think that only name brand items are good.
@METALMAN4Wii The sign read "Per Kilo" Taking into consideration the then exchange rate of Aug 2008, 1 AUD = 0.87 USD and then the conversion of kilos to pounds, the bananas cost approx. $1.38 USD per pound...yes, still quite expensive!! Currently, the USD has since depreciated vs the AUD slightly to 1 AUD = 0.91 USD. Those bananas today would cost approx. $1.44 USD per lb (June 2011). And that's assuming that they're still selling for $3.49 AUD per kilo. (I bet they cost more today though)
I couldn't go into Aldi (in germany) for a long time becasue it was so depressing with all the cardboard packing and splintered pallets everywhere. The customers are a peculiar mix of dead poor turks buying 200 kilos of groceries and middle-class nerds who earn 100,000 a year but like a bargain.
Seems that the German concept (Aldi) works in the US, but the American concept (Wal-Mart) doesn't work in Germany. They retreated four years ago---it was a complete disaster.
@AndreR241 The Germans know how to stop Walmart Americans must know this secret......! ( lol btw I know the secret it's called don't shop at Walmart )
@Dredgion Walmart is almost as evil as Hitler was. they have what's called "dead pessient insurance" on there workers. meaning if they die while still employed under Walmart, Walmart makes tens of millions of dollars off there deaths. ahhhhh the high cost of low prices......!
@METALMAN4Wii i already get why its not here, because you are not allowed to Open a store 24 hours a Day. And you are not allowed in half Germany to Open a Store on Sunday only in North Germany you can do that ^^
@METALMAN4Wii I hope they never come to us i am afraid that sounds like an invasion of white people to Australia. And killing black native people only for fun. XD
Just bought two bags of potataos from aldi in Miranda Sydney. On the bags they say 2kg. Took them home and weighed them. They were both less than 1.4 kgs each.
We have something like Aldi here in Portland, Oregon. There called SAVE-A-LOT Pretty much the same Idea. Most of the items are OFF brands. The places are good for canned goods or things with a high shelf life. I do not recommend these stores for meats or produce. Oh yeah....really check the exp. dates on all items!
where is this located? our Aldi in upstate New York is very very small and has a fraction of the layout this video has. Plus the store interior looks more inviting. Ours is very drab and ugly - yours must be a newer store.
@myktrue Germans employee complain on a very high level. unemployed´s as well as employeds receiving healthcare. With his annual tax declaration a German employee can deduct his way from home to work. (I think 0,60 US cent per driven mile)
@zer77o What are you talking about? Im a ALDI Employee and i earn MUCH more, than the rest in the retail sector. If you want to make a career, go to ALDI. I started as a trainee and are now a vice store manager. Within 4 years!
@zer77o That isn't so in the US. I saw a hiring sign posted on a US Aldi looking for a cashier to be paid $9.50 an hour. That's much better than the US minimum wage.
@zer77o destroyed the wages in the retail sector? I've juyst started at Aldi and I'm making $22.35 /hr. Plus "buying cheap mean buying poverty" does not make any sense at all. Whats that based on??
I wish they would open an ALDI on the West Coast of the US. I studied in Germany for a year, was used to, and enjoyed shopping at grocery stores like this. BRING ALDI TO WASHINGTON, OREGON AND CALIFORNIA!!!
Looks like the ALDI store near where i live here in the US. Yes I save money there. The presentation and service are not great but I bring my own bags and I save money besides.

Reminds me of our "Food 4 Less" stores...I think they might be called "Food Max" now. Costco has EVERYTHING...office furniture, boats, couches as well as food.
Looks like a Sams Club. But I've never been to a Costco. Our state sucks in that part. Question you said the price of the Strawberries and Banana's in dollars.
It's like Costco and 7-11 had a horrible love child that they beat a lot and left it in a corner to cry, and completely forsaked its well being. I have a bunch of stuff I picked up for your folks, I need their address.
