Do you find resin buildup to be a problem in your stack? I'm on the east coast and burn only hardwood - will be moving to Pacific NW soon and don't know how its gonna be burning mostly pine/fir/etc
I have not had any noticeable issues with buildup, but last winter was the first year I was using the wood stove so I don't have much of a long-term test. My current woodpile is all big leaf maple however, which ought to be nice.
I got a hold of some halfway dry hickory the other day maybe just a tad bit longer than that. Now that was a job, the mess was so hard and stringy it made for a hard job, but in the end it burned well!
my girlfriend came up behind me and started watching just after i did.... i have a feeling it was for a different reason though...

Cool.
Have you ever wrapped the wood with bungees or placed em inside an old tire? Seems like that can save some time.

Douglas fir splits like nothing.. mr flippy
flyinasscritter 1 year ago
depends on the type of wood, on how easy it will split, if the wood is full of knots then its hard to split
