  • Il sera toujours là pour moi j'ai 64 ans

  • love this....<3

  • Buddy Holly AND Little Richard > Elvis Presley

  • Because there's confusion, this is the overdub from 1963 by The Fireballs, from Buddy's original apartment tracks. David Box and the rest of the Crickets are not present (sadly, there's not a good quality video of their rendition on YouTube).

  • It thought it was The Fireballs Norman Petty used to overdub this.

  • @watchpotch you are having a laugh my son. It is dire and if i recall it was done in the early 60s by jimmy gilmer and the fireballs. travesty

  • such a song

  • What the hell have they done to the backing on this track ?

  • @Raggy60 improved it.

  • @Raggy60 It's The Picks. I think they overdubbed this in 1963 or there abouts. They done this on a number of his demos.

  • @palmer8112 Well according to the statistics, officially the Beatles have sold more albums than Elvis did.

So if he's the King, they are the Emperors.

  • @palmer8112 Im just sayin man I think that Buddy and Ritchie both were capable of incredible things and in there short careers accomplished things most couldnt dream of.

To be honest Buddy to me seemed to have better songs though Elvis has the Charisma for sure

  • @palmer8112 Because hes recognised as the king of Rock and some think to be the king of rock you should have acually wrote the songs that made you the king.

I think Elvis was the king of Rock, but I think that if Feb of 1959 hadnt taken three of our greatest rock n rollers Elvis would not have been called the king

  • @palmer8112 Well Elvis was before Holly but Elvis wasnt known for writeing his songs just singing them Holly wrote and sang his songs

  • died far far to young, but left a memory that will be with us forever

  • David Box is the lead singer.

  • 1950s-60s = 1000 legend singers

    2000s =  maybe 10 ? :/

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP not even 10 in today's music

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP thats a bit to many :(

  • @TexianPride Yeaah i guess haha ;P most of them would probably be impersonaters of legends like this ;D

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP lol pretty much

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP as long as we p mccartney, ringo, and most of the rolling stones

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP Sorry man, 0 is it..

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP yea but the 70s wasnt the worst century but what hapend in 80s ugly cars bad music probebly hipie moms fault

  • @davedavito the 70s wasn't a century at all, it was a decade. There is a wealth of good music from the 70s (if you search for it - I could name loads) but unfortunately a large proportion of "pop" music that made the charts I agree was awful (and has been since). The best stuff is from the bands that released albums without bothering too much to release singles - many of these bands cite their influences as Buddy Holly, The Beatles, etc.

  • @watchpotch yea sry i mixed it up but that was what i was saying

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP that's not true

  • @MarianoJRibeiro k. name em

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP You're being kind by saying 10 in the 2000s,maybe 5.

  • @iw32 Yeaah about that :P

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP La verità in due righe!

  • The world we live in today is because we made it that way, we must take responsablity for our actions and stop dreaming of how it once was.

  • This was one of the few apartment demos to benefit from overdubbing, as he obviously wanted it to sound more like the original Peggy Sue (although the only one to truly do it justice is the Crickets' re-recording).

  • Comment removed

  • Buddy Holly just makes me smile:)

  • WOMEN SUCK!

  • Buddy HollEy on the grave? Are we missing something??

  • @JiS01 His real name was Charles Hardin Holley. Yes, the "e" was dropped when Buddy went commercial.

  • @JiS01 That was the original spelling of his last name. His real name is Charles Hardin Holley. Buddy Holly was only a stage name to make him easy to remember.

  • I love Buddy Holly's stuff too! :-)

  • I think its worth mentioning how different Holly was from Elvis or Berry too. He was his own distinct talent.

  • @PierzStyx FUCKING DUH.

  • @ecnalubma696969 You really are an idiot. What I am saying here is that Holly was a very distinct sound from Elvis or Berry. Both of them really got into the rockin part of rock and roll and some of their songs sound similar. Holly's work wasn't like that. It was very unique. Dick.

  • Love this. His best

  • Buddy Holly, Abe Lincoln, and Gandi...all bringers of Peace.....

  • david box was singing on a cover version of this song done by the crickets themselves

  • Originally recorded by Buddy Holly in December 1958, it was later re-recorded by the Cricketts with Dave Box (a local Holly look-a-like - and sound-a-like), who took over lead singing duties for a while. Ironically, Box - like Holly - died in a plane crash, in October 1964.

  • I was just a kid in short trousers when Buddy died, I still love his music today. I have most of his recordings but I have never managed to obtain this particular version of PSGM, perhaps some enlightened soul might know of a Buddy complication that includes this ?

  • he was such a hearth throb

  • This is the version with the Fire Balls morons!

  • buddy holly was the superman

  • I believe this song was released after his death and was played over and over again to celebrate him at parties held by us oldies where only Buddy Hollys records were allowed said but nice Oh by the way I also like Rap etc so I am not dead yet Dave D

  • When LOVE was real!!

  • Man. Buddy Holly was adorable.

  • Does anyone know if the lead on this song is actually David Box? I have a Buddy Holly collector book which lists this song as by the Crickets with David Box singing lead. It sure sounds like Buddy but I'd like to know for sure.

  • he is truly the best ever

  • I LOVEEEE BUDDY HOLLY!!! and I love this song and the movie and my nickname growing up was actually Peggy Sue! <3

  • rock and roll starts here

  • Buddy recorded so much good stuff that its hard to say which is his best track. However, this one was always one of my favourites. Thanks for posting it.

  • This is the awfull version with those creeps The Fireballs!

  • @walt7500 how old are u ????????????

  • @viper4274 65.

  • @walt7500 Could you link me to the Original one?

  • @dum277 Sorry, i don't have the equipment to put it on youtube, but somebody else will I hope. I have the Coral single and the 5 LP box. Lucky me!

  • Buddy Holly may have looked like a nerd but he was so cool!

  • @iw32 I personally love the nerd look, it added to his persona for sure!

  • @titans08 I like his nerd look as well.Don't get me wrong.I'm saying he was cool even though he looked a bit nerdish compared to,say,Elvis.

  • @titans08 nerd look? In the 50s, if you had vision, those big nerd glasses were your only choice.

  • Aaah Buddy Holly one of the best musicians of his time considered a legend all over the world almost as much as Roy Orbison, cheers bottoms up to both of them for bringing some of the best songs to life R.I.P my heroes

  • @Modhammer666 no doubt, had buddy lived he would have churned out alot of hits just like lennon & McCartney.......in fact, ill bet he would have moved into producing like Phil Spector

  • Pure brilliance by one of the all time Rock n Roll legands himself, long live your music and your memory.Buddy. A++++++++++

  • This record started out as a demo recording made in Buddy's living room (with just his guitar) 2 months before he died. The label took the demo tape, edited it and posthumously overdubbed the backup tracks. You may notice that the voice is somewhat "buried"; Buddy didn't sing out on the demo, and they were attempting to cover some dynamic inconsistencies in his guitar strumming. Still great!

  • it's not fair! I would give everything to live in the fivties and the sixties, just to meet great musicians as Buddy Holly and the Beatles :)

  • .......das waren noch Zeiten......

  • I just don't understand why they used this version by the PICKS Thebacking by the FIREBALLS were and still are the best.except for the CRICKETS of course

  • @cheerydavie I believe this version from 63' was done by Norman Petty with help from the Fireballs , though the first overdub was done in 59' with the Jack Hansen Trio.

  • It sucks that Buddy died before learning his 4th chord.

  • @NeilFraudstrong It really, really sucks that you're 34 and still live with your mother.

  • @mdwhite64

    joke alert

  • Great! Thanks for posting, just a great song from fabulous artist, love this!

  • This is probably my favourite Buddy Holly song.

  • whose playing guitar buddy holly??

    tiss is nice

  • Springstein's 1 in 4, take a listen to I'm on Fire and try telling me that 1.5 billion could have written that song. The man is a poet.

  • Go BH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i have this on one of the 45's and i play it on my 1928 HMV re entrant model 202 all DAY

  • played this music at a concert and it's very nice and happy:)

    you can swing on it:)

  • So the point is you need a producer to succeed - jesus that's a groundbreaking theory. Well done.

  • Long Live Buddy he Lives in all our hearts!!!!!

  • Buddy Holly was "THE" John Lennon idol & hero. Remember when he dressed in the same way, with the same type of glasses? (he sing many Holly songs too). Bye.

  • "The Crickets" did their version of this song in 1960 with David Box on lead vocal also using him on Dont Cha Know. David Box did a few other solo songs sounding just like Buddy Holly even growing up in the same town. Strange enough he too would die in a private charted plane crash in late 1965 while touring. Look up and listen to Little Lonely Summer Girl by David Box...compare them. Amazing how much he sounded like B. Holly.

  • Buddy Holly was one of the rare talents that madea quantem leap for rock and roll. It would be like one day having only biplanes and the next day someone would be flying a jet, thats how far he advanced rock and roll music and it took 5 years after his death for the music world to catch up to where he had been in 1959

  • Buddy was so talented at such a young age....so sad he had to leave us so early. Thanks Buddy for what you did in the time you had!!

  • Absolute classic. Buddy's music will never die. Thank you for post.

  • yeah, Springsteen is already semi forgotten ..But Holly in the sky !

  • To grtas1. Springstein ha, don't make me laugh mate he's a crime against music. the most over-rated musician ever!

  • there are some rare occasions that talent like this comes along I will give you another example Kurt Cobain. buddy did it for rock and roll Kurt did it for alternative but they both were pioneers

  • Eh no I think you are missing the point - Buddy Holly was a one in a billion talent - he was writing songs aged 17/18 with a wisdom way beyond his years, he had everything incredible vocals, incredible mind for the business and perhaps one of the most versatile musicians of all time. Holly, Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Spingstein - these are one in a billion musicians.

  • put lennon&mcartney in there and i might agree with you.

  • @grtas1 Springstein's more like 1 in 4.

  • @grtas1 one of the 3 most influential from rock's beginnings in the 50's, along with Elvis and Chuck Berry. Buddy is the first rock and roll talent to write, sing, play and produce his own songs. Truly 1 in a billion

  • @grtas1 You tell em. We can't even begin to imagine the songs that he didn't write because of his early death.

  • @grtas1 Agree 100% friend .. I grew up in the 60s and 70s and consider myself to be a progressive rock enthusiast .. however, I believe Holly would have gone on to become a much bigger and greater influence on music than Presley, and maybe even the Beatles. He was undoubtedly a unique talent.

  • @Gruntelfluker

    Elvis? Maybe. The Beatles? No!

  • @grtas1 very true look at the shit we got

  • @grtas1 Buddy Holly, the first in rock and roll to write, play, sing and produce his songs...no wonder John Lennon named his band the Beatles in honor of Buddy Holly and the Crickets

  • @ITILII Was Eddie Cochran one of the first as well?

  • 26 high street - are you for real? Buddy Holly is one of the seminal artists of all time - his music sounds like it was recorded yesterday and he's been dead over fifty years. Show some respect you attention seeking know it all.

  • I think your missing the point, stop seeing the world with rose tinted spectacles.

norman petty made buddy holly comercial, people need production to get noticed, there are 100s of great bands out there, but most are unknown and will remain that way untill they get promoted and produced in a way that makes them a viable commodity

  • LOVE BUDDY HOLLY AND IM oNLY 9

  • Irreplacable...

  • Buddy you are the man. the king lives on

  • Charles Hardin Holley

    September / 7 / 1936 - February / 3 / 1959

    May He Rest In Peace

  • Norman Petty help Buddy Holly get some of his moeny from Decca Rords. Decca owed buddy around 4,000 dollars.

  • norman petty was not a nice person to buddy.

  • pure rnr

  • Sorry, that should have been Stratocaster, not Stratocatser.

  • Just a little extra info;; Those photos of Buddy in black suit and playing his Stratocatser were taken at The London Paladium in 1958 and are exactly as we saw Buddy when he toured England. The pictures are actually owned by the Victoria & Albert Musem, London.

Yes, I am proud to be a Buddy anorak. ;^)

  • The lead was added after Holly's death by the Fireballs (a norman Petty band) and the lead player was Jimmy Gilmer if I remember correctly.

  • @ukbarton

Yes, Jimmy Gilmer was the lead singer of the Fireballs and I think the group also had one or two former Crickets.

  • whod playing the leads????

  • I just love BH!

  • @davmccorm

In dutch, BH means bra. ROFL.

  • @eschvanjan norwegian too. Just what i was thinking

  • Thanks for your reply! The song is named Baby My Heart and was recorded in 1956 by the Crickets. We are very close in age/years of being a Holly fan, I just turned 64 in August and have been a fan since back in the mid 50's. Oh, the song is on the Coral label. Are you, by any chance on the west coast?

    The Sunwarrior

  • Can someone please tell me what/where these "Apartment tapes" are? I am and have been a HUGE Holly fan for fifty years and am always looking for something new about him/his music. BTW, doesn anyone remember the song Baby My Heart by the Crickets/Buddy? Haven't been able to find it anywhere & the record I had is hiding somewhere! Thank you!

  • Only thing i remember with Baby in the title is Little baby baby me.I have been a fan since i was a child.I'm 65 now.

  • Lovely!

  • Buddy was the father of Strat usage in rock n roll.

  • he has an amazing voice

  • Never mind everyone giving you the thumbs down,I make you right-BLOODY Nprman Petty! I have a copy of the apartment tapes-just Buddy and his guitar, sounds so pure and different!

  • this is faultless

  • NOT SO! Norman Petty Screwed with so much of Buddy's stuff, IF you were to hear the apartment tapes (original version of this) you would understand. Just Buddy, guitar and tape recorder-pure magic!

  • norman petty made him a star, a lot of his songs would never had charted in the first place, same deal with the beatles and there producer.

some of the buddy holly rockers sound weak in there original form. and would not even exist if he hadnt have had petty doing his magic

  • @26highstreet you are so full of crap you dont even know what your talking about because buddy was such a talented guy & you could not even touch him on his very worst

  • Love him.

  • i love Buddy Holly. im only 14 but my parents have always played old sort of music (: LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!

    x x

  • love it too...

  • David Box sings on a version sung by the Crickets, not on a Buddy version.

  • Wow out of site R.I.P. buddy

  • Lots of opions about the three versions. I agree with Satt that the Guitar Break makes this one the best. But I wonder if the "Fireballs" used Petty's studio, with the famous bathroom upstairs for echo that Buddy helped build? Anyone happen to know?

  • this is the first time i've listened to this song and I LOVE IT

  • I melt when i hear this tune! buddy holly is a legend !

  • thanks for posting. love it.

  • one of the coolest guitar solos ever.

  • yeah i love it

  • Yeah it is, although the instrumental and back-up vocals were dubbed in 1963 by the Fireballs. The original recording with Buddy's vocals and his guitar was done in his and Elena's apartment suite in January 1959. It's a great upbeat lively song and I believe Buddy would of been happy how it turned out.

  • I just read on google that the actual release after Buddy was killed was sung by David Box who sang lead on the Crickets' recording of "Peggy Sue Got Married"...anybody got info?? Box was supposed so good at impersonating Buddy's voice that he did shows with the Crickets.

  • The band wanted Peggy Sue Got Married to follow the original Peggy Sue arrangement so Jerry Allison reverted to drums. The recordings were put on a three track tape machine with the harmony vocals isolated on one of the tracks. The songs became the last Cricket singles to be issued on Coral - and one of the very best released after Buddy died, certainly the arrangement on Peggy Sue Got Married is far better than any of those added to Buddy's demo version.

  • His best (in my opinion). Love it.

  • i agree

  • Never heard that version, only dubbed one. Both excellent of course. Thanks v much

  • Buddy Holly jest the best, szkoda tylko że tak mało współcześnie żyjących młodych wie o jego istnieniu

  • My ears + Buddy Holly = HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!

    (yea Im a cheese!)

  • haha, yeah his music is just great

  • Yep! Its some of the best ever! tks. x

  • This always was one of my favourites, thanks for posting it
