  • I'd like to see similar techniques for straight jabs, haymakers and uppercuts. Also a full speed execution. Still very cool though.

  • SUB ME PLESAE!! :D

  • There are always commenters that say they know best and no matter who is demonstrating a technique they are doing it wrong and the person commenting is a pro at it. This technique is being demonstrated in controlled enviroment so that other people studying Aikido can learn and pickup details that may have been left out.

I have studied Hapkido (NOT COMBAT HAPKIDO CRAP) since 1980 and Judo since 1971, these techniques do work. I used them time after time as a street cop in LA and elsewhere.

  • @jerbino Thank you for so neatly categorizing a bunch of people you've never met.

  • "Let's watch this slower." -Goes under the arm faster than before-

  • @jerbino yeah its obviously them being american is the problem not that they don't know enough about the martial art or appreciate it in general don't be a dumbass some people don't know enough learn to accept people in their current state and educate them on the purpose of martial arts

  • obviously this man has never trained for real because i don't think he pretend to catch a tsuki like that... pathetic

  • *better* my bad.

  • I like Gary boaz beeter bcuz he demonstrates the techniques at full speed.

  • outstanding video, good descriptions and clear instruction, hats off .

  • @jerbino Agreed .. its more then fights its a way of life a philosophy a respect of life and nature .. trng to hurt ppl ends in the long run in a negative manner.

  • SANKYO VERY MUCH!

  • I don't practice Aikido (looked into it and decided ITF TKD suited me better) but the negative comments on here annoy me for several reasons, I would guess for one most people being critical have never actually had a go at Aikido and are just reading on forums and then just base their opinion on that.

Don't get me wrong Aikido might not be for you and something else might suit you better but I think you have good and bad schools in every art and every martial art has strengths and weaknesses.

  • It upsets me to think that some people have devoted years of their life to this nonsense.

  • you must believe in that mma junk........

  • @b0ris360 Try it sometime, before you dismiss it from the comfort of your computer chair.

  • Whats the martial arts where you use a persons body weight against them

  • @zxpalpha A common one is Aikido and kung fu. Other than those two all martial arts use their opponents power against them.

  • This is way to fancy. I think ill just rely on the wrist grab then coming in hard with my open palm to his extended elbow and twist my body to take him ot the ground. In a real combat situation it is way to hard to rememeber this fancy of a move. Hence why I chose krav maga over aikido or any other art.

  • @Radion561 In a fight you do not have time to "remember" any technique... You should train in that way, that the whole technique starts like a reflex. In a real situation you do not have time to remember your techniques, then choose the right one and then perform it (You are already in hospital at that time)... And there it makes no difference whether it´s krav marga, karate, aikido or any mma... If you think you are to slow...

  • damn they must pass out drugs to everyone who does expert village videos

  • When I go through, underneath his elbow (uchikaiten), I usually throw in an atemi at his ribs, to keep his mind off of me.

  • @markilic he should be moving around you, not you around him. save the elbow for after he comes around so you can hit him under his exposed arm pit for a pressure point KO.

  • @appraiserjv That's what I do as well.

  • i think aikido cool because isn't is a SUPER OFENSIVE fighting style but defensive. imobilizes the oponent, throws on the ground... uses the oponent's power against himself ^^

  • @jackestripador01 actually its not so much as using.. its pricipal of geometry and physics. the idea that use the opponents own force and weight is not so much true.. the more true factor is the use of gemorty physiqs and momentum .. it has to do with relative factors in reality. fact is not all attacks are done with any force that can be used but can be odne if you use physics and geometry and the principals of relativity

  • @jackestripador01 this is because it was created by a pacifist

  • but wat if the straight punch is to ur face? does the same concept apply? i mean really who actually does a straight punch to the stomach in a fight?

  • @UnpredictableImp123 if the person wants to punch you in the face there is a lot of other techniques of getting her (I'm not sexist) on the ground.

  • @UnpredictableImp123 fighters use straight punch to the stomach

  • @UnpredictableImp123 this is not a good video .. you cant catch someones punch specially if they pull their punch.. its really hard to use aikido against punch .. this would work against knife becuase knife requires a thrusting motion also the way one holds a knife is softer..

he is trying to make up a technique based ona knife attack clearly.

as we never learn moves against punch in aikido.. there is only traditional "chopping" atacks in aikido similar to knife attacks.. only few tsuki atacks

  • @TheRogueMonk i think this is a good video! i'm a fifteen year old aikidoka.. 4'9 of height.. but i can easily parry punches from bigger and stronger guys.. and btw, we don't catch punches.. we parry them

  • @MiRsChE333 Exactly! I've been recommending Aikido to a few of my smaller friends, one of whom is an urban waitress who gets harassed constantly. I'm a male heavyweight who does Tae Kwon Do, so I'm primarily an offensive striker, but I've become very interested in Aikido lately. It's marvelous against a heavier opponent.

  • Ohh god, these comments are from tapout-ufc dumb ignorant people, don't listen to them

  • have you ever received a real punch from a guy that is really willing to hit you in the face?

  • i looked this up JUST to troll..Ok well doing a wrist like is sooooo fucking pointless, just take the damn hit and grab the collar of his shirt and T-off on his face with your fists

  • ta bueno

  • nobody is dumb enough to try and punch someone like that

  • @yodaddyxx trip about the arts is they can pull out any type of move so it's best to be prepared than assume

  • @yodaddyxx Dunno bout that.. I've seen some pretty big brutes who don't know how to punch but use their size and strength to make up for technique...

  • @stealthblade47 size and strenght will never have a chance against tecnique

  • @killerhobag Yeah but one who has size, strength, and technique becomes a threat that technique along can't counter...

  • @yodaddyxx Good thing this is one of about a thousand techniques, for every type of attack. WEIRD!

  • Great move. Love it!

  • i do bjj and mma and although i think they can be effective, i feel hesitant to double underhook a violent criminal in a streetfight. Does anyone know any good no-nonsense martial arts or RBSD systems for dealing with street thugs

  • @timstramadal krav maga maybe

  • 1:30 i've heard FEW cracks on the ground...

  • 0:04 to 0:07 "This car is going to hit me right here, but it's best if i'm not there" No shit sherlock ;)

  • How do I find the first video in this series? I want to watch them in order.

  • i need to learn this shit man

  • Very good but try pointing you leading index finger before posting an element of training. Just something for you to think about. I know you know what I'm saying.

  • Im guessing this 'instructor'

was or is in some type of law enforcement

    just a guess

  • fuck that!

  • i love this guy

  • how would you trap a jab into sankyo

  • Be water my friend...

  • screw judo... im ganna take aikido instead...

  • awesome!thanks for sharing!

  • It's quite sad how many people dont know the true meaning of M.A.

It was originally a way of bringing peace to ones mind, similar to meditation.

Yet everyone thinks it's for fighting, for shame.

Although i do agree in self protection (so dont get me wrong)

  • Actually; you are quite wrong.

While many martial arts are intended as a meditative technique - the term itself is quite modern.

For one thing, "Martial Art" is an English term - while most of the common practices originate in Asia.

'Martial' refers to conflict, and 'Art' refers to the practice of something.

    The practice of conflict.

It is literally for fighting - though also useful, as you said, for self protection.

  • Any MA will work if performed by a dedicated student who has practiced diligently for years, and as a long-time karate practitioner and a new aikidoka I can tell you neither is easy (done right that is). The difference in my opinion? Aikido sure looks a lot cooler. I know it's petty, but come on... it does look pretty cool.

  • I attack abs lol usually the guys i'm fighting are taller than me and they can't fight anyway so i just get inside and beat the crap out of their whole torso area. I don't like to hurt people but a punch to gut that really connects can stop a fight quick. I bet none of yall have ever been kneed in the gut also huh lol let me tell you from personal experience. THAT $H!T HURTS

  • i am 17 years old, i have learned some techniques, have general info about martial arts and have been in fights all my life.. i am just gonna say one thing nobody is going to punch your abdomen.. and if they do it they are pretty idiot.. hitting abdomen is useless always..

  • it can hurt so it is useful

  • beh this is an example, techninc sankyo isn't only for punch vs abdomen. sankyo is used for all tipology of technicks, kicks too.

  • @Zylen92 dude. you should take one to the gut. either that or watch somone disable somone from a single strike to that area. the only downside is its hard to get in a good position to hit like that in a fight. usually a punch like that is done to an opponent unaware the attack is coming, untensed, they arent getting back up. also he could be wielding a knife etc and of course that is the best way to stab someone :)

  • true but this technique works just the same if aimed at the chest, face or abdomen

  • i need a easist 1 i got hit in grading so.....

  • thats why u snap ur puches back.

  • Comment removed

  • do you also have a video in which he does not attack your abs, but your head?

nobody will EVER attack your abs ¬¬'

  • @wubs23 grab his hand the same way even though hes aiming for your head

  • I Would

  • yes. its very hard indeed.

Ive been training aikido for only about 2 months or so. I know its not much for any MA. But i must say i havent actually learnd anything yet. Cause im still learning new things about the techniques that we've been training for while that time, and im sure that there is more to come. Its hard, you have to control your body, and your feet and do something with your arms allso. its not just moving around, it really rips u nicely if u do it right ^^

  • thanks for tellin me i did this to this kid who tried to punch me!!!!

  • Great mistake! He can attack your back.

Don't try this against a jujitsu fighter.

  • tried it still got it on him

its diffrent when its full speed

  • if you do it properly he wont have time

  • he grab you so fast , good and strong that you dont have breath to attack

  • I like aikido because all there moves seem to have a lot of cool twirls to their opponent and it just looks cool 8)

  • muy muy bueno!!! saludos desde Uruguay

  • Don't talk too much.. Stay back your enemy as well as you can in a fight. This is not Sambo or another wrestlings. Muay thai and other eastern martial arts stated on staying back, and hitting or holding as powerfull as you can.

  • aikido is one of the most complicated martial arts. but it complexity is to ensure that ur assailant is not seriously injured.its takes time to master this MA needless to say to perfect the technique and timing etc

  • In a grappling situation this move would work. If you are locked up and your opponents arm is in front of you could still do this move. Have done it many times for a takedown.

  • try to catch a full speed punch like that and you could miss or break your fingers..

we were taught to avoid and redirect the thrust with the forearm (doesnt matter if you miss it)

with the reach extended take the arm and apply technique.. or move away.

  • bursting is much better for this senario

  • this is stupid whos gonna punch you like that

  • someone who doesnt know how to fight lol

  • The practice is to teach how to do the move. In real situations your training comes back to you and then you see where the usage is applicable. It's easy to hurt someone with this stuff, so you need to do this way so you don't.

  • @ptl1143 I'f there attacking you, You shouldn't wanna Hurt them persay... You should wanna Kill em to Nuetrilize the Thret!

  • plenty of people. use as a distraction. maybe they punched for your head and you knocked it down then grabbed. in a real fight the heads the target. but ever hear of a gut shot?

  • I've applied the Sankyo during my practice , and also in random people. I realized , in the Dojo ppl react differently to the lock , because they know what's going to happen. In normal people , theIr first reaction , is to turn they're backs to you , putting themselves vulnerable to chocking moves from behind (don't know how you say it in english). Aikido doesn't have to be Aikido only. Researching Aikido's movements , I was able to develop a more efficient self defense.

  • and your a total ass hole thats a jock and neads to get layed.

  • I always thought surviving isn't about style(s), but more about technique(s). If studied them well you could be 'lucky', but above all I think it's about... nerves. The way you react in a stressful, life treatening situation. Untill you've experienced such conditions for real, I guess you can only train in trying to prepare for such.

  • And for those of you who missed it, it's a demo vid to show a technique, not a real fight. As for most of the youtube vids...

  • For having the same result this is a very efficient technique, if applied correctly and fast enough. Indeed the stress and the speed of a real fight are all the way different. That's a personal thing, regardless the style you practice, boxing guy or not. Whatever, people with an age of about 30, mocking ancient techniques studied for over hundreds of years, should keep on watching Karate Kid (6, the ultimate revenge). Style doesn't always matter on the street, nerves do.

  • no accounting for loss of control by the DEFENDER due to 'adrenalin paralysis/dump'. WAY way too complicated for real situations-guys don't even think about it= ludicrous.

  • good luck "catching" my punch :)

  • I don't understand where he is punching though..

  • This is all good, thanks for showing me this and all your others. It's all great true basic moves.

  • I love these videos.

  • I train in Brazillian jujitsu, and mma and the guy who I train under has gone from aikido to bjj and from his own mouth and that of alot of his students say that in a real situation they wouldnt use there aikido as its unrealistic on the street... And this guy has done aikido most of his life and has a few other black belts with him as well :)

  • I know you posted this two months ago, but I just read it. Aikido provides training for different situations than Bjj. I have Black Belt rank in both arts. One-on-one unarmed fighting, BJJ works great. Aikido is based on the idea that you are not only facing an armed opponent, but he has friends. I hustle alot of pool too, I have yet to get into a fight with just one guy, may start out that way, but you gotta know how to stay on your feet.

  • hey thanks man.. what a great reply. I respect that fully. I personally look at my surroundings first and if I was to hustle in pool as i sometimes do... The pool queue can become a means of self defence :). Once again thank you :)

  • ya, staying on your feet is the key to survival.

  • actually nobody will have time to make another move because in real life it will be much faster

  • I think most of these techniques works only against a borracho bully who don't know how to punch at all. Against a real trained fighter, first he will not catch his punch, and if he doed it, as he tries pull two hands on his arms, the attacker will finish him with everything he has free, the other arm, legs, head, everything, and the fight is over.:))

  • how about u shut up,ur a fucking pussy (which u probably r) if u pull out a gun in a hand 2 hand fight.

  • Yeah pull out a gun and the aikido instructor will stick it up your ass. Be respectful you idiots. If you are ignorant, the best you can do is learn and keep the mouth shut. This guy has been training all his life, he deserves respect.

  • how bout i see u go to jail and then see how good is your gun is

  • I'm gonna make a sandwich..

  • i what to jack off to your voice

  • i think it would be pretty hard to grab someones arm as there trying to punch you

  • i think it would be pretty hard to pull a 720 in a half pipe... but people do it everyday... as long as they practice, obviously.

  • if you actually try it you can see that it isnt as difficult as it sounds.there is a similar tecnique in karate but instead of grabbing you do something like a karate chop at there wrist area as you dodge the attack. (i learned that off of human wepon on history channel =)

  • This style can actually be effective. The point of training is that eventually you dont have to "have a plan", but rather you have preformed the teqnique so many times that it has become muscle memory and you an do it without thinking. Admittadly, i prefer a more straightforward style in a fight. I have trained extensively in both aikido and shotokan.

  • cool

  • excellent technique!

  • I had no idea people were straight punching abdomens today.

  • they punch faster in my school >.>

  • "In a fight, everyone has a plan until they get SMASHED in the face."

    Mikey Tyson (famous boxer)

  • isn't that the truth...lol :)

  • it is just practice but it is not real

  • seems cool. i know this style is useful and probably the least intrusive for the defender, but i've always thought of this style as the lazy man's way of defending/fighting.

  • because it iz
