  • The hummingbird flaps its wings 40 to 90 times per second. - The Discovernator

  • Truly, one of nature's miracles.

  • Birds are so boring

    like if you agree

  • @MrCameron5007 Hahaha! No one agreed your comment

  • 7 pessoas ñ gostam da natureza =/

  • Nice i have like seven humming birds and one time the feeder had no more spots to drink because there was so many humming birds and when one left one would go to that spot immediatly it was amazing!!!

  • pls upload the song "THE ORIENT"....

  • nice music.... can u pls upload it in ur channel....

  • I love how they can just hover there in place, chillin and looking around occasionally while their wings are pumping away at 50+ beats per second. Such amazing little birds.

  • I watch the little guys on my front porch and was wondering how do they survive the winter and where do they go in the winter.

  • @Piewacket53 Where do they go...?

  • The poorest thing is i can't find them in my country ; [

  • is that fake?

  • Even in Slow Motion, the wings are blur on motion.

  • I'm delighted to see this, it proves a point I made about hummingbirds in a comment on another video here a year ago. I had seen them in Texas and said I must try and get them to feed from my hand next time and a German guy commented that they were not found in the U.S., only in Central and South America. When I posted back that they were (The poster of the video I commented on was in Ohio), the guy said they were an introduced species brought in by man, no so!,

  • wtf they stay flying so still

  • They are so beautiful God's creation I miss feeding them where we use to live out side of Toronto we had orchid trees & they use to chase each other I love watching them.

One day I was siting outside & a hummingbird came right up to me looking at me it was incredible. If we ever move back out of the city I will put the feeders out there are none where we live.

    From Mississauga On.

  • What a beautiful video you have posted! Saw hummingbirds for the first time @ Christina Lake. Next sighting was just outside of Peterborough, Ontario where a friend fed them. Now I live in Nevada, and they come visit often on our terrace. Very friendly! My favorite bird. Thanks for sharing : D

  • is it radio controled?

  • u see another reason to take care of our mother earth andstill have the chance to have this beatifull birds around ...

  • I live in Brampton, Ontario nd one day i was in my room and i looked outside, in my back yard were 3 humming birds drinkning necter from some of our tropical flowers...they were so cute :) -----i tryed to take a picture but by the time i got my camera they were gone :(

  • Used to get them in Kamloops too, anywhere in the Okanagan as it is warm enough usually. We had lilac bushes and clematis and some other flowers they loved to go for along with the feeder.

  • they are realyy cute..but dang the way tehy flap thier lil wings simply amazing

  • I used to think the eagle was the "master of the air".

  • those are amazing sweet little birds. I'm gonna set up a feeder in my garden to see if I have any luck with those little angels. if that works out I'm gonna set up tens of them around my house.

  • @JCVdude it's awesome. is that honey in the feeder. when you set up the feeder for the first time, how did you let the birds know about it. or did they start feeding from it automatically? wonderful video.

  • i m doing a composition project in music class at school and our piece has to be based off of the sound of a hummingbird. this has helped a lot! thanks:)

  • that one guy gonna get fat and lazy sitting on that perch eating!

  • what did u put inside the thing???

  • 24Revelation :

Ill reconsider. or maybe I put the feeder twice a week only, in order to maintain the hummins seaching their own food

    what do you think?

  • REALLY beautiful little animals! thanx for sharlng.

  • @lovley7000 they are too pretty.I feel bad for them cos they are just about any birds or bigger insect's food.

  • @CANNOIR - I hadn't though about that , that's true. But if so , it's just the cycle of life . They will be fine.

  • wow they have amazing energy, great video :]

  • they dont fear men because I'm sure they're so fast that they're watching us in slow motion, they know we cant get them! 0_o Impressive

  • 1:45 OMG that's scary! wings move too much fast!

  • this is scarry!

  • I live in Brazil and I have many hummings backyards. I thought about putting a feeder but I stopped when I heard it makes the birds lazy to find food....

  • please reconsider - feeders can be important supplemental food - these amazing creatures need so many calories just to survive =)

  • i love how if you look closely at the wings you can see a stroboscopic effect and see the wings

  • sooo awesome to hoover!!

  • Excellent!

  • beautiful photography of such delicate and unique creatures!

    thanks for posting this!

  • Nice photo work. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

    Kym

  • Do you find that they are not really bothered by people being around ?

  • Yes . . . It's like we are the visitors to their territory. lol At times, when I was replacing the feeder, they would start feeding while I was still holding it.

  • @JCVdude

omg thats so cute i wanna see a real livehumming bird ^^

  • @JCVdude That happened to me last night! I had a face-to-face meeting with one and we both looked pretty surprised. Thanks for posting the great video...I love seeing the coloring/feather details that are normally blurred.

Glad to see that you don't use red dye, either. Once I read the findings from the human and mice studies, I went from commercially-produced red juice...to making my own clear juice with the 4:1 ratio.

  • Fabulous! I didn't know there were hummers in Canada, but I'm just an ignorant Brit. Thanks for this, it's a real treat.

  • beautiful, awesome little things...they sound like tiny weedeaters!

  • beauty, ay?

  • where are their little tukes? they ARE canadian hummers, right?

  • This was in the Kootenays - Christina Lake in the spring. There's a couple of the little guys left, but they'll be heading south soon I would think.

  • Humming birds are indeed beautiful.

But what is the name of the ones whom are all green with the bright purple throats.

I know some have certain names already its just that one I want to know.

  • bibi says thanks for the vids. very nice!

  • Real nice my wife puts out feeders for these birds as well.

While I may not share the same level of enthusiasm it was a nice vid and the hum of their wings brings back the feeling of being dive bombed on my front porch. Which I don't mind.

    CC

  • We were amazed at their aggressiveness. One we nick-named 'Spike' had a favorite perch on a spine in the pine tree, to protect "his" personal feeder. lol

  • beautiful birds !

    thanks for the post!

  • Oh those little rufous rascals!!! I got some great shots of them this year with my Nikon camera and telephoto lens.

  • Nice! Very colorful and cute :D

  • They sure are! My mom and I love hummingbirds. We see them in our backyard sometimes.

  • Very nice! What a colorful variety! Thanks for posting this.

  • I enjoyed your video so much. Just beautiful. Thought you might enjoy seeing my of them eating out of my mouth. Just click on my user name.

  • Yes Jude,,saw my first here on April 20th,,,and more have shown up each day since..soon I will be re filling my feeders 2-3 times a day

  • wow..Fantastic,,I live in the interior of BC, and my hummingbirds start showing up around april 22nd every year,,I love them,,I too am able to get fantastic pictures and video,,soon I will have soo many they too will land on my hand to feed

  • Nice! So are they there now or are they late like many other things this spring?

  • Jaw dropping footage! Amazing and beautiful! You got as many stars you want!

One of the best of entire U2B! Congrats. ET.

  • Nice variety of species there - especially for being so far north. The females are harder to tell apart but I definitely saw Costa's and Rufus males, and possibly Anna's and Allen's females (much harder to tell apart from the other girls)

Your birds are surprisingly tolerant of each other. Mine fight more than feed and there's never more than 1 at the feeder at any given time. Great footage! :-)

  • Thanks! We can't wait for them to return. I recently got a new camera with high speed filming capability. Cindy want to see if she can get them to perch on her finger like the one's we filmed in Jamaica. That's an incredible experience.

  • I've been looking at the Casio for high frame rates. I only wish it did HD formats at those high rates (300, 600, 1200 fps).

It's fairly easy to get the birds to land on your finger at the feeder. It takes a short while for them to get used to your presence, then they'll fly right in, look you over a little, then sit down for a drink. The only problem is holding your arm up for that long while the birds get used to you! :-)

  • i have never seen anything like that !

    congratulations...

  • Thanks! We had an amazing time filming and photographing these little guys. Can't wait for them to return!

  • Japanese Victor Company dude, yes or flick its headwith ya finger mabey ?

  • So like do you know how fast these little birds fly - You'd have to be a really fast flicker. And, it 's JCV man, JCV.

  • would it be possible to punch a humming bird unconscious?

  • Do you a little "girlie" punch?

  • and yeah i know its JVC i just like to mess, incidently, i bought some grapes today, red AND green, but they didnt taste quite right, i think it was cos i had just brushed my teeth an hour before as i had to go to the optician, you know how close they can get, good job too as it was a nice young thing. i ate them anyway.

  • Great! Excellent shots and amazing birds!

  • Wow! I see lovely Rufous and Calliope hummers. Love the sound of the wings and the loud jingle of the Rufous males wings as he buzzes the others of camera! Super! Nothing like those gorgeous all red Rufous boys- expect for the Allen's of course! Thanks for sharing

  • Nice video

Can you please tell me the name of the music you have in this video. Thanks

  • WOW! What is the species?

  • These are ruby-throated hummingbirds. The male is the one with the red. Aren't they amazing?!

    Cindy

  • love the beautiful birds got to feed one this week was fantastic....kat

  • My camera is the Sony HDR-HC1 and I used a wide angle lens and a bluetooth wireless mic when I took audio.

  • Great shots. What type of camera was used, I wonder?
