Out of all the movies I've seen with Absinthe hallucination scenes (even though that actually doesn't happen, and they even watered it down), this one is the most entertaining.

Actually, absinthe was banned for political reasons. It's no worse than any other form of alcohol. It was associated with the Bohemians and other ne'er-do-wells in Paris, and THAT's why it was banned.
