  • THE EAGLE has landed. THE CHURCH @ [sleepy-[H]allow-wed] Philadelphia has RISEN and the Central (GENTILE) bank has been set free. ALLAH'S 'CRAZY DIAMONDS' are in THE BLUE OYSTER. (A-DYNA-MO)

  • how can someone dislike this OMG? how, this really makes me sad... :'(

  • I want Pumping (My Heart)! Please uploaded it!

  • This is up there with Free Money... fucking amazing song!

  • beautiful...shes a gift from the heavens.

  • i'm a moroccan young boy who wants to go back to that time when music was "MUSIC" .....and btw I love Patti so fu***** much :)

  • that's Bruce at 3:16

  • this is the weirdest and strangest singer i ever heard lol :p

  • Cette chanson me fait le même effet qu'il y a trente deux ans... Elle me donne vie. Merci à celui qui l'a partagée. C'est magnifique.....

  • Yeah Patti is a unique phenomenon. Nobody else like her at all

  • @TimJakeGl right

  • It's extremely hard to pick, but this is definitelly one of my VERY favorite Patti Smith songs. When I saw her do it two years ago, I was amazed at how much it was like the record- in a GOOD way! I didn't miss a moment of the recorded version, but it was even more electrifying! It practically blew the top of my head off.....Patti was, is, and will always be amazing!

  • FINALLY,,,Patti is getting the recognition she deserves,,She is a true genius.

Radio Ethiopia remains in my top ten albums to this day!!!!

  • @ArtaudianIshtar haha why 'fuck men'?

  • @ArtaudianIshtar

Smith worked exclusively with men and was married fifteen years until the death of her husband. I don't think she can be categorized as presenting a message of 'fuck men', unless of course you meant that literally, in which case absolutely.

  • @subg88 you got it bro - don't ever use 'fuck' as a weapon.

  • @jok99teez its called rape lol

  • I always have viewed Patti Smith as an actor rather than as an artist: she was playing a part, not having the courage of her convictions.

But if so, she's as good as anyone I knew at that sport.

  • One of the best Patti's songs! Love it :)

"Oh don't you see when you're looking at me that I'll never end, transcend, transcend..."

    Great!

  • @RockNimbie her idea of 'vain' is different isn't it?. give it to me so i can give it to you.

    - she's so honest.

  • Transcend Transcend.

  • I know of one star, it's Patti Smith, who has this beautiful voice, more like whiskey voice, like an angel and she gives this power. And that power goes to you.

  • zajebiście dobry kawałek , narasta powoli aż osiąga kulminacje że mało mózgu nie rozsadzi , very very good song, fucking good song

  • 16 dislikes... I wonder how those people came to dislike this.

  • @tonyhoward07 Rimbaud actually. Curious to know why Rambo is being said. I thought old people would be better educated and more polite... but I suppose the internet is the pussies' labyrinth.

  • Revolutionary woman.. And I like it ;)

  • @tonyhoward07

    lol

  • Great song! Love the paintings

  • VERY VERY ROCK!

    the queen!

  • Like much of Patti Smith's work this song is highly poetic, and contains lots of vivid and exotic imagery which reminds me of the Symbolists such as Rimbaud, that she was so heavily inspired by. However, this song is a particular favorite of mine ( and bare in mind I am a huge fan of the bulk of Patti's work) on account of the primal, almost shamanistic quality of the melody and lyrics; which I suppose also owes tribute the mid 19th century Symbolists.

  • think i may fall into a world not of my own

  • Met Patti in the mid 90`s,very interesting,I love her poetry!

  • El mejor tema de patti!! una genia!!!

  • I've just got into Patti's music, and she is amazing! Her vocals are admirable and her emotions show really strong in the songs she sings. (On a side note, I love her hair is the first picture on this video!)

  • great art!

  • di chi sono questi disegni? che nè ho fatto uno simile !! o_O

  • This song is a surprising highlight of the 1970s, with the outstanding feature being Jay Dee Daugherty's drumming. I have wondered for a very long time why rock magazines never make lists of the "best drum songs", for this would certainly be among the top fifty I feel.

  • She change everyone...in a good way.....Patti ,you even dont know how big you are ...for your fans

  • So strong women !!!

  • So strong women !!!

  • Fantastic song and a GREAT ARTIST.

  • This is my life. Summer 1976 and further.

  • Many thanks to you for this upload!!!

  • woow, its good.

  • Don't you see when you're looking at me

That I'll never end transcend transcend

    Ain't it strange

  • Yeah, when I was in college in the '80s I thought this song was a time-warp transmission from Mars by way of the Roman Empire by way of ancient Egypt by way of Easter Island. Primitive and spooky, yet dripping with sex.

    She is so awesome.

  • i love you !

    amazing musician !

  • You made some real cool drawings there =D

  • she's great

    totaly great

  • She really came up with a unique vocal style that was perfect for the era in which she emerged from.

Bruce Springsteen (greatest artist in human history)

  • she's soooo cool man

    she rocks

  • Patti excells at releasing tensions brought by the working world, social stereotypes of society. Excellent vid, cool Patti pics, well coordinated.

  • 5:54, loved that drawing

did you do it? it's really cool

  • Magnifique vidéo... pour les fans français, cette chanson est traduite dans le livre de Patti Smith BABEL...

  • Superb song, with a killer presentation of images. Patti Smith actually whirled herself off a concert stage in Florida singing this song in the mid-70's! Landing in the orchestra pit, she broke a couple of bones in her neck. Can you imagine? "And I whirl, and I whil...like a dervish!". Her excrutiating recovery lead her down the path that brought her next great album: "Easter". The lp this selection came from, "Radio Ethiopia", is at last receiving it's due, as a diamond in her powerful cannon.

  • simplemente perfecta

  • Patti Smith rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I still get chills every time I hear this song,30 odd years after it came out. Thanks to Patti and the boy's in the band.

  • Patti Smith, love of my life.

  • This song leaves me with Pink Floyd's "Money" in my head...

  • One of my first heroes in music . Punk Rock Goddess . One of the most unique , creative/talented, and veracious women in music .

  • I am a Patti Smith fan, but I had never really listened to this song before. I mean really listened to it. So then I did a few hours ago and I've been listening to it constantly since. I just can't get over it.

  • Awesome Patti, i love you!

  • I saw Patti last weekend, and when they started this song I practically elevated out of my seat! I hadn't seen her do it since her first concerts in LA in the 70's. Wonderfully hypnotic and intense, and they did it remarkably close to the recorded version. I am still floating thinking of it.... :)

  • Welcome to the world. Best female vocal ever. Love you.

  • Ethereal...thats it.

  • patti's awesome

  • is that pat

  • One of the best songs ever made.

  • I totally agree. This always stood out for me among Patti's songs. It has an edge that cuts to the quick. No-one else has ever sung a song of this kind with that degree of intensity and passion. You can see how her own admiration of Callas and Jagger is reflected here perfectly. It is the greatest rock and roll song ever written, no doubt about that.

  • could you be more skinny?

    love her

  • an amzing performer, she took requests too.

has a great sense of humor. told me to shut the bleep up one show at the "elgin" in ntc for requesting a cover a kinks song she would do..

this song is as good now as it was when i was thin!

  • Happy Birthday, Patti!
