only thing I don't agree with is that in street fight a lot of inner city "thugs" try to box you, they don't throw a full follow-through punch like that.
So trying to hit behind the neck and shit won't work.
Once you block/deflect the punch and move yourself out of city while misdirecting his arm.
You would be better off jabbing his face or a front stop kick to lower body/legs/groin followed by a quick 2/3 punch combo then engage the other guy while moving.
@silicon605 The Gracies have never said to grapple in multiple attack scenarios. Quite the contrary actually.Their motto is 'more than one, use a gun' or knife or other weapon. Infact there's a vid where Royler Gracie is allowing two cops to really attack him and try to subdue or get ahold of him. they could't even touch him. They practice for the ring and the strre. most of the time, you just see the ring stuff.
guys this actually works i swear!!!! ok so i was looking in to this and i thought oh this is cool! so i got my brother and told him invest half the money if it is cheap and dont work i will pay you back! so he finally invested after hours of convincing. The first video we watched(on basic) was awesome. But we were laughing are heads off at the cheasiness. Because you had to make cheasy sounds with it But then we realized the sounds help, we did the excersice about 40 times each, THIS ROCKS
As an Ed Parker kenpo practitioner I agree with everything he says. As much as I like the kenpo philosophy of economy of motion, I think realism, like what this man is talking about, is sometimes sacrificed for technique. This is probably true in most arts, not just grappling like he mentions.
Best stuff ever. I've been doing SCARS since 1998, it's everything Jerry claims it to be. I'm glad to see he's making a few clips avaiable on YouTube.
Just type in scars and direct action corporation into a web browser. Or do a search for Jerry Peterson and scars. This video is lifted right out of one of their courses, I'm assuming it's official too, given their youtube account name at the top.
i think it would be easier to take down the smaller one first becuause u can out run the big one and take less of a beating u can knowck out the small one then run away use him as a sheild or if ur tough enough take down the big one chances r if u run the small one who is weak but fast will catch u and the big will beat u like crazy so but ur advice also works
Good video, except I sort of disagree with the hitting the biggest one first. I always found it to be much more strategic to hit the smallest opponent first in order to immediately lower your net threat.
he's right self defense is more important than fighting in the ring you can never be effective martial artist if you only learn how to fight in the ring its better to learn self defense because if your are very good in defending yourself outside in the streets against assailants than a cage fighter who doesnt know how to fight and protect himself against multiple attackers
Actully, Jerry doesn't like the term "self defense", as it presupposes fixting on what the attacker is doing to you, rather than what you're doing to him. Hence his use of the terms "fighting" or "self protection" where most would say "self defense". Sport fighting is a valid sport and definitely fun, but surviving life-threatening assaults is a different animal completely, with a different mindset and objectives.
All these armchair bozos making negative comments. Why don't ya'll go sign up for SEALS if you're so badass. This video is what they do.

His style is a joke. I've seen it. Not very good. Some good points, but horrible techniques

"Combat has been going on for 6000 years."
I'm pretty sure it's been going on a bit longer than that.
