The Snowbirds are coming to this years Houston airshow. I have never seen the Snowbirds in action before. I am eager to see their show. Previous shows were the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds though the Snowbirds were in 07 I was not living in Houston at the time.

The Snow Birds is a perfect example of what a Canadian team up north can do. It provides another perspective of Aerobatic flying, not some cheesy fast aircraft. It's also a graceful name for a graceful country. That's another reason why we use the CT-114.

@PhysicsTowerTeam in 1997 we had #12 Capt Shirley Greenwood / Capt Michael Perry I believe that is the only year that we had a two person on the roaster for an aircraft. Most pilots that are applied for the snowbirds are unfortunately men and it's a very selective process. Many applies but very few are accepted. I knew most of the crew over the years pilots and technicians, there were more women in the technician side ban on the pilot sites but nevertheless very dedicated and professional

i just watched them at the reno air races and they were amazing. i liked them better than the blue angels and the pilots are alot nicer to! thier not nearly as stuck up and they gave me a free shirt.... go snowbirds!

I was up at the other end by the road where the soccer fields are for this. I remember seeing the Snow Birds earlier that week doing training manoeuvres over our house. I got video of this show too. I haven't uploaded it yet. Great vid man!

there was more heavy metal at Toronto for free than Osh Kosh. Admittedly, the american planes (blue angels, F-22, F16) had a lot to do with that.

I have been to many Canadian and American shows. they are about the same except Osh Kosh is less military.

tutors are some of my favorite aircraft even though they are old and not as fast as an F-18. i can't wait to see the heritage flight at the canadian international airshow 2009 with the golden centennaire tutor. it looks awesome!!

Of course they're jets, the Snow Birds don't stun people by flying fast like the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels do. They stun people by flying tighter, more complex formations and aerobatics than those demonstration teams do.

Not to diss the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds because they're great pilots. But teams like the Snowbirds and the British Red Arrows put them to shame flying a bit slower, but with more complex formations and maneuvers.

And yes, the Snowbird team is made up of fighter pilots.

@Robopencil well not only tht but using the f/a 18 its kinda hard to do the manauvers the red arrows do at the speeds there at without passing out and too slow and it would look sloppy oh and btw there formations are just as tight as any other flight team about 3 feet or so

Captain Shawn McCaughey (30) had a fatal accident. I was GSC (Ground Support Coordinator) four that Airshow it was very unfortunate but these are the risk that any Snowbird pilots are aware of but don't dwell on. The love what they do and he would not want to be anywhere else.
