@rulebritannia1 This is from an episode in Yes Minister, where Jim is Minister of Administrative Affairs - I just can't remember which one at this moment.
it's just so true....everyone should also watch the rest of this scene where hacker describes the typical EEC official as having "the organizing capacity of the Italians, the flexibility of the Germans, the modesty of the French, the imagination of the Belgians, the generosity of the Dutch and the intelligence of the Irish" :)))) it's certainly not politically correct; that's what makes it so successful.
The great thing about Yes, (Prime) Minister is that it pokes fun at both pro-Europeans and so-called "Eurosceptics" and that whole ridiculous conflict.
It may be funny but it is 100% true. I worked for 15 years in the government. Belive me, I know. The beauty of this show is that it is so authentic at any time, anywhere, as long as there is a government.
Seems to me that even Omid Djalili would have problems pulling off a line like this.

It was only politically correct insofar as it was correctly portrayed politics :)

they couldnt do anything lke this these days - its not Politically Correct
That's only part of the reason.
The other major part is, there aren't the writers with this sort of talent. If there are, they are in deep hiding.

I think it is more than just being not pc what makes Yes P/Minister what it is.
