Excellent Chris I love it... I know so many companies out there have no idea what is happening to them in social media...and the ones that respond are going to be the trend setters for the next round.
agreed Chris though when I do computer tutoring some people think they know everything about computers (windows OS) am talking about and they think they know everything because they pay for anti virus and I don't I work on the free ones and they say thats bad for the computer though the funny thing is that I have never have a problem with the free ones and I will never will?
Impressed. I saw the video about the comparison of ipad - kindle fire and you seemed really a freak show. But here...man you say some really wise things, I myself experienced those. Congratulations for understanding them, they have a lot of value, I hope this video will be watched by tons of people and interpreted the right way (maybe not everyone is ready to understand what you explain). Keep on man, well done!
I have never approached customer service in a negative manner, but I ALWAYS have to redo everything I troubleshoot just for "liability" reasons. So most of the time i just tell them what I've already done and I've actually had a couple people thank me. Might be worth trying as well.
sounds good in theory. i have had great experiences with rmas. i do just that but sometimes you have to be more aggressive. not mean but get your point across. i won't get into full details but i will NEVER buy a product from them again. they're polite but that's about all i can say. if anyone want's to know the story pm me, it's to long to put in here..
@wwallender that's great. rmaed a seagate that had a month left on the warranty. not only did they take it no questions asked, they gave me a much better performing model of the same size (500 gb). good to hear wd backs their products to i have a wd blue wd500aakx.
I used social media to complain about an order I made though Amazon and the company contacted me to not only return my money for the product, but they also paid me to take down my posts.
Your comments remind me of some ratio that deals with how people talk about their customer service experience. I think it was something like 14:3. Bad experiences are told to 14 people while good experiences are only told to 3. It seems like social media has exponentially affected that ratio. I wonder how that ratio would be expressed taking social media into consideration?
yeah i agree with most points there, but it depends from company to company and for me company culture is a big deal, social media indeed has empowered lot of people in a fact that they can evaluate these prod n services before buying into them.
i must say apple customer service is great and honestly there products are pretty average not saying there not good but they are no better than something else but i had to ring twice and both times they were 100% helpful and thats how costumer service should be
@alexrichoalex i've had bad experiences with apple just last summer my iphone4 was randomly turning off i went to apple store one at appointment time to be told after waiting 45 mins they said it should work. The problem persisted i went to a diff store and explained the problem and they told me that previous store didnt log it in on my account so they will look at it again and they will log it in he didnt fix and i was forced to come another time.
@alexrichoalex So far since the innitial problem a month has elapsed and the phone was still broken and i was wondering if apple were so great why were there store so full of people looking for repairs. So i made the appoint explained the whole thing the lady asked why the others didnt just replace the phone i said i dont know but it is the last apple product i buy she appologised for previous "geniuses" but all this took way too long to resolve
In the words of Wheaton, "Don't be a dick." It's pretty easy. Call, treat me like a person, and I will go over and above for you. Talk down to me and I will do my job and not an inch more.
6:45 - don't lie Chris, we've all seen your call to the Windows Vista team at Microsoft where you said: "just search "Chris" in Google and you'll find me".
Protip - Note down their name and greet them, whether that be just a Hi or How are you doing. Customer service is about social engineering at the end of the day.
@choochinkaddywompus amen to that. could have gotten 7 points on my license, and 1000 dollars plus in fines for doing donuts in a snowy parking lot(also a couple other minor things that added up), but by being respectful the off the cop just told me to go home and not do it again.
