Several scenes and opening crawls seem to suggest that at one point in development you were supposed to actually chase the guy throughout the stages. A lot seems to have been dummied out, in fact. Kleerofski's arena has several teleporter like structures, and what looks like scafolting right above it. Not to mention his stage's intro makes no sense (though it could just be a gag). Oh well.
