  • Roberto Alagna sollte sich das und auch seinem Publikum nicht antun. Sorry, aber der Kalaf ist nun 'mal nicht seine Partie! Ja, mit der Höhe kommt er hin, aber das Ganze ist dennoch nicht stimmig.

  • Bravo Alagna!!!, what a wonderful voice and what a wonderful talent he has!!! ...even if done at the open (I guess) he maneged to did a wonderful redemption of this very difficult aria. Bravo!!!

  • Nepochopitelné, že tohoto PANA zpěváka prý vypískali v Milánské Scale. Nevím zdali byl indisponován, ale jinak si to vůbec nedovedu vysvětlit. Takový úžasný hlas a ta interprtace, plná citu- až mi jde mráz po zádech. Nechci jej k nikomu přirovnávat, ale přiřadit se k velkým tenorům 20. století- to tedy určitě ANO!!

  • @eurydike Děkuji, že jste podpořil můj názor. Bohužel mnohdy se řídí posluchači jen tím, zda je onen zpěvák dostatečně známý a nehledí na jeho kvalitu. Ale myslím, že už se dávno prosadil a přeji mu uznání. Na světě není jenom Scala!

  • @eurydike četla jsem to na internetu v jeho profilu- a vyrozuměla jsem z toho, že se to stalo při jeho prvním vystoupení v této operní síni.Jinak se mi ohromně líbí také v Carmen a Tosce. Jsem ráda, že se objevují zase mladší talenty, protože operní hudba jistě přežije i momentální nechuť většiny mladé populace k tomuto druhu hudby.

  • Wow! Roberto Alagna hasn't ever been my favorite but I've got to admit, this is one of the best renditions of this very well-known aria. Not only the voice is in the right placement (al always), but his diction is so perfect, his breath sustained and his interpretation effortless. Bravo Roberto!

  • @TheCathyNimes j'espere y etre, no matter where it is. but I thought it would be in Orange, according to his schedule. I've never seen him in Turandot, so I'm looking forward to it. Roberto in person is unparallelled, I'm sorry. His magnetic charm, his diction, his compassion with his audience all leave little to be desired. Hear the clapping at the end: I was there!!!!

    and the last A and consequently a very

    obvious wider vibrato. It's a shame after

    you've heard him before do so much

    better. I've heard this before in tenors

    through over use or just stepping out of

    their comfort zones like moving from

    arias for the more lyric voice to the

    heavier more spinto voice such as this.

  • Yo! This is some tragic singing, y'all...There are too many great tenors whose voices ring freshly in our ears to mess this aria up. Lauri Volpi, Giacomini, Corelli, Pavarotti (the favorite of many), to name a few...with a quick vibrato like he has, I wonder why Alagna hadn't checked out more florid stuff...then there's all sorts of lyric Donizetti stuff beyond Elixir that he could've done, too! But then again, he's the product of marketing...gotta sing what the public wants, not what's best.

  • Here here! I'd listen to Alagna over Domingo anytime personally. Sure, he should have stayed with the lighter lyric repertoir, but he isn't the first tenor to feel the need to sing out of his true fach. Carerras was a prime example.

    The high B on this was not pleasant, I have to say...

  • Yup, his B wasn't pleasant at all (was he slightly off pitch?), but it is evident he wasn't in the best shape possible during this performance.

    As one of the highest paid tenors in the world I thought he would have practiced or at least approached the note a lot better.

  • Alagna is finished. Having taken on Spinto roles destroyed the beautiful voice he once had. His top notes are now a disaster.

  • What a pity indeed... I've heard him on "Pour mon áme", with its 8 high Cs. He was very good. I remember Pavarotti when he said "You make a career as a tenor by saying "no" at the right time". Quite true.

  • Is a category for the tenor voice, basically you have 3, lyric, spinto and dramatic. Lyric for example is a tenor suitable for some Mozart roles, like Don Giovanni, or Donizetti. Spinto takes on some heavier roles like Don Carlo. Dramatic is for example a voice suitable for Radamés in Aida.

  • I love this singer, his timbre is so beautiful. A french proverb is: "L'amour est aveugle"(Love is blind). So, don't let us be blind (or surd!). Mr Alagna sings very often his high notes too high! And I repeat: I love his voice but this is a fact!!! And he sings too high on his discs too! (Nessun dorma, la donna è mobile etc etc etc...)

  • Oh, dear! I've just watched and rated highly his 'E lucevan le stelle': what a contrast. In this one he appears drunk! He's taking no notice of the orchestra, he's sluggish to a degree and the anticipation that this aria is all about just isn't there. And no,dear Matthew Tilley, that top B is all over the place. An off day, in my view.

  • I like Alagna a lot. But that top B was not in the middle of the note, Mr 1985, I am sorry :)

    I love him in Romeo and roles like that, I think that suits him best, better than the lyrico spinto repertoire.....

  • Far from a professional tenor level? what is that person talking about, this is beautiful singing, and his tenor is better than Florez's thin bottled tenor.And that top B is absolutely in the middle of the note. Most tenors are either slightly flat or only just there, excellent

  • I would like to note that in my humble opinion this nessun dorma is not bad sung, the notes were there but I do not understand what you all mean by the high B was in the middle? The top high note ought to be sung from the top of it to get there and sustain it, otherwise you may be the unlicky one to crack or loose support from the diafragm.

  • Bon le Roberto il est génial comme d'hab; on pourrait chipoter avec son dernier "Vinceeeeeerrrooo" en disant qu'il ne s'éternise pas 3 heures mais comment le lui reprocher! Qui a choisi ce tempo de la mort? Franchement, moi qui aime tant ce morceau, j'ai cru que j'allais m'endormir au début! En tout cas, la voix est vraiment d'une Beauté incomparable.
