  • I think its really sad aswell how im the only person i know to have and love this game, truly one of the best adventures in an rpg ever!

  • any one know if the people from summoner part one are in this game at all?

  • @mosstallon26 yep nearly everyone

  • @donutboy990 ok thank you

  • it depends on which game u've had longer i guess but my favorite game all together si sommoner part 1

  • Awesome game, those good old days.I hope next gen brings back some good rpg's.Not sayin there aren't any good ones this gen,but very few.The last good ones i played on consoles where the kotor series and Jade Empire.

  • Lol. I remember powerleveling in the arena. Since you can pretty much insta-kill with backstab any prone (frozen or tripped) enemies, you could advance to some brutally rewarding fights there.

  • I want these old summoner games. I remember when summoner one came out lol

  • i remember when the ps2 came out, i thought summoner 1 looked amazing lmao

  • HEARD THAT MUSIC AT THE START, NOSTALGIA'D A FUCKING LOAD

  • i have both summoner games and honest, i love this series. I wish there were more games like these now a days than all the shooters.

  • ick hab dit spiel schon durchgezockt

am ende wenn man wirklich ALLES hat, dann, naja sagen wirs mal so: die Verwandlung die man bekommt, ist gegen alles resiztent, mit andern worten: unschlagbar!!!

  • twas a wickid game but still doesnt seem as special as ii remembered it!! MAYBE IF I PLAYED IT AGAIN I WOULD FALL BACK NIN LOVE WITH IT!! HAHA

  • Damn I used to love this game when I was younger, I can't remember what it was but I remember getting stuck shortly after leaving that crazy realm or whatever it was. Still I remember this game being amazing, I'll have to see if I can pick up a copy and play through it again.

  • Oh man, this brings back good old memories

  • This is one of

my favorite games that is unheard of. It is always so cheap at the few places i've seen it and has just a great character build. I love this game so much and wish people would have played it more. i try to introduce this game when i can, bu t new gamers cant play anything that isnt HD. Aside from the graphics...great story, gameplay and plenty fo stuff to always do.

  • I would not, as teh2D does in the description, call this a Hack and Slash, since most of the players later and most powerful abilities other than perhaps the summons and Taurgis are magic and ranged. There are also a huge number of side quests and other fun things (LIKE THE ARENA) to do in Summoner 2 making it last even longer. I've been addicted to this game multiple time over the years it's been out and seeing this video has gotten me again. Graphics shmaphics, dont let them ruin this gem.

  • Ya this is a great great game, you should remake it and do a fight in the arenas with more diverse moves to display some of the much more complex battle mechanics. This is quite possibly my favorite PS2 game of all time rivaled only by Dark Alliance I and SSX 3. Anybody who still makes use of their dusty PS2 i would definitely suggest buying this game, which is still available online at shopping.google.com (i think you can find it there if not just search it on google and you will find some)

  • Completely agree with you. While the story tended to wander off into nonsense sometimes, I really REALLY enjoyed playing this game, it was so much fun. Definitely my favourite RPG on the PS2.

  • It takes time and patience to appreciate it but once you get along with it it is a true gem, thrilling with a stunning plot and great battle system..if only you had chosen a more representative side of the game (trials to get the 13th summon or an endless battle at the arena would be nice..!)

  • I fucking love this game.

Also, some of you are having a debate about what Final Fantasy was the best, i only played Final Fantasy 7(which was awesome), so i wouldn't know!

  • I hate the first game so I'm not really tempted by this one but I like you're channel so I may give it a try

  • this game was so full of atmosphere when i played it, i realy felt like i was into the game

  • btw i wonder why you just played my favorite level ground, you should had showed those dungeons

  • As i remember it was pretty difficult at some points; unless you totally overlevel yourself in the "arena" or something like that.

I loved the later characters and stages that get you into a highly "surreal" world.

Really a nice game; even if its not so well known as other RPG's

  • how it compare with summoner 1? i got the 1st and its pretty basic

  • @jr2nd I'd say it's better than the original. I enjoyed the original, but I can admit it's not for everyone.

  • @teh2Dgamer summoner 1 is a bad game for my opinion becuase is player turn attack mode and also a rpg

  • I remember playing this game on the gamecube and imo i feel its better than the ps2

  • This game was so good, i want summoner 3 xD with the same characters

  • This game was fucking fantastic!

Sitting with it by my side right now, none of my ps3's which are able to play ps2 games can... the game crashes after the first loadingscreen where it says "Entering the Tempest" :'(

  • This game was fucking fantastic!

  • Got a question for anyone who played the first summmoner games.

What did you think of the gameplay change most notably the combat.

I didn't mind it much as this was one of those game series that I played largely for the story, even though the gameplay kicked ass for both games.

Dammit volition make another....... and don't ruin it like red faction im looking at you guerilla!

  • @bluevenom50

RedFaction guerrilla was such a disappointment i loved the original fps versions dont know why they had to go and make it feel like GTA hybrid game

  • this game is very unique for it times ))

i loved to play it ^_^

  • I rented this game dozens of times for Gamecube until I bought it on PS2.

My most favorite RPG of all time

  • the first summoner sucked monkey balls!!

  • Best game ever

  • dis game is awesome espiacially for lik 2 bucks

  • When it said Summoner 2 i thought it mean the Shin Megami Tensei game...

  • Summoner & Summoner 2 were two of my favorite games for the PS2.

Been a while since I played either one, but as I remember it the story,

atmosphere, voice acting and music of the first Summoner was incredible.

Summoner 2 was much of the same, with improved gameplay.

  • @lVleatwad yeah i like the first part more

  • I remember buying this game for a couple bucks at a used video store because it was all I could afford, and what a great choice that was! This is easily one of the best games I've ever played, the only thing that sucked was the sad ending and no free roaming :(

  • Is this game comparable to the great Final Fantasy VIII?

  • @vfgjhj It's not really comparable, because it's doing something completely different. This game would be more comparable to something like KOTOR than Final Fantasy.

  • @teh2Dgamer I mean in terms of greatness, maybe they aren't the exact same kind of game. But in terms of overall quality and greatness, which one excells?

  • @vfgjhj It really depends on what kind of gamer you are. Since you love FFVIII so much, this game probably won't compare to you. IMO, FFVIII was OK, but not as good as FFVII, or especially FFIX. Of course FFVI pwns them all.

  • @teh2Dgamer FF7 was OK but not as good as FF8. Of course, FFX pawns them all

  • @vfgjhj my fav was ff VIII :D SQUAAAAALL!! :3♥

  • @vfgjhj I support you wirth FF8 better than FF7

  • @swaikis Did I say that?

  • @swaikis No, did you mean that?

  • I remember playing this for the first time in 2004, best game ever made by far

  • summoner 1 was good too

  • This is a well done game! I remember spending hours collecting money at the arena so I could enhance other things. I also loved all the characters and how hard the game could actually get at times. I have both this and the first one and would definitely recommend this one over the other one.

  • I love you (in a platonic way of course). You have listed several of my favourite all-time games. Thanks so much : D

  • This game was and is awesome, I am getting it for the 3rd-4th time today from Amazon lol (I know, sad).

I kept losing it or breaking it or whatever.

But yeah I didn't really have a favourite part of this game, almost every part was unique and strange.

Another thing I like about it is the selection of characters and weapons. :)

  • i loved this game so much...

  • Meridens pass was probably the worst level in the game. The best level I can think of is the city of masks. Can't remember the name of it but it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in a video game. If they could remake it and make it larger, I would waste my life on it.

  • @LycanEnforcer most definetly tht is why i looked this gaame up i was looking to see the city of maasks again...

  • wow

  • i loved this game!

  • i wanted to play this game, but after a couple hours, i felt like there was no need to, havent played it since. ps2 games dont "grab" me anymore

  • @TimeSpliTT Don;t tell me "Teh graficks!!!!!"

  • @teh2Dgamer not at all, i just didnt have the will to go through it. i probably didnt go throught the game long enough but are there towns and resting places? or is it as it felt = going from one area to the next just attacking?

  • @TimeSpliTT I'm talking about how PS2 games don't grab you anymore.

  • @teh2Dgamer ahh

  • Of all the great levels in this game you choose Miridans Pass?

  • This is one of mt favorite ps2 games. But im stick on killing the boss at the end.

  • @denman8496 I just loaded it from whatever save I had on my memory card at the time.

  • Got this one too. Not sure what drew me in. I remember seeing the trailer and thought the art was awesome, so I got it. Haven't gotten too far, but from what I've played, it's shaping up to be a pretty great experience. :)

  • Looks like Dragon Age for XBOX360/PS3

  • It's only on PS2, I think. In my opinion, it's not as good as the first one.

  • Do you need to play Summoner to get into Summoner 2's story?

  • No. Each game follows completely different characters.

  • @Mandalore06 they are linked so you may not understand some of it but most of it should be fine

  • @Mandalore06 nah m8, just play,i got my ps2 in 2003 and got summoner with it,first game i ever played.

  • @Mandalore06 They're set on different continents so there are references to eachother but thats about it. Basically evil guys from the Summoner 2 continent were banished to the Summoner 1 continent and spread lies about Maia (the main character) being evil. So everybody on Summoner 1 hates Lahara (Maia) and bits and pieces about military and some characters cross the continent here too. It's very different gameplay wise and personally I prefer summoner 2 :)

  • I loved this game! I thought it was wonderful! It CAN become a little hack an slash at times. BUT you get an amazing storyline, beautiful environments, intriguing lore, an array of characters, testing puzzles, and MORE! I really hope they revisit the series but I haven't heard any word of that.

  • The first summoner was good, but this one was horrible. I got it free with my slim ps2 in 2004 and its a very dull and boring game. Not a graphics whore but it even looks dull and boring.

  • Yeah, I like the first Summoner better. I'm thinking of having another bash at 2, but I can't see me sticking with it to the end, as it doesn't hold my attention that well.

  • @wulfshelmut Yeah, that's what I thought right now. I vagualy remmebered the first game being awesome on PC, I just turned this one and... uh... see, i'm not playing, I'm watching YT about it to see what the hell.

  • @dardrakuun I probably should have put more time in the game. But it just did not feel like it was going anywhere. had summoner 1 as a launch game with my first ps2. It was ok but I never completed it. Back then I just go too many ps2 games too quickly.

  • Why in the world would you use Meridens Pass to show off one of my favorite ps2 games? This game is so much more than hack and slash!

  • @Dymdez I just used my current save for the vid. I hadn't played further into the game at the time.

The problem with showing RPG vids is that it would take a long time for me to play to near the end of the game in order to show ideal footage unless I already had a save.

  • summoner 1 is way better

  • I favor gameplay over graphics any day. This game looks fun so i may check it out soon.

  • some games (like summoner1) made me wanna play them cause of the bad graphics cause back here bacd graphics normally ment good/long game play

  • this looks fun I like the rpg team feel

  • I loved the Summoner games.

  • is this an rpg?

  • Yep. A hack and slash RP.

  • summoner 1 was really boring.

I only finished it because I was playing with LCD shutter glasses (on PC) and it was one of the few games that looked just right in 3D.

  • summoner 1 was awesome...

  • this game wasnt half bad.

  • i remember this video. It was one of my favourite of all time. I finished it again and again. I completed every thing apart from gaining the 13th summon

  • Ive had this game for four years they say you end up getting tired of games youve had for a long time but i still havent got tired of this one this is one of the best ive played in my opinion.

  • totally agree!! summoner 1 is the same...

  • Anybody else having problems playing this or the first one on PS3? I found something online about a glitch in the first one where it's impossible to the key to Yago's room, but I tried playing this one and it wouldn't even go to the first scene.

  • In the first one, i think I somehow grabbed the key through the wall.

I really couldn't say about the PS3 thing though, because my PS Triple does not play PS2 games, but it's not like I need it too.

  • whatam i suposed 2 do with the creature that is there? i keep giving him nuts and playing and petting him,

  • You should also alternate moving him by the fire and into the water. When you come back later in the game, he'll be full grown and the food and moving will give him better strength for a little battle you gotta fight.

  • im not gana lie this game looks terrible

  • Oh, it grows on you.

  • -,- got this too. when will they make 3, dont like how you cant continue on after u complete the story though.

  • About how many hours into the game is this video taken?

  • I don't remember for sure, but I believe I'm still relatively eraly into the game (I haven't played it for a while, so I don't remember).

  • Where is Joseph !! And why developers always must spoil the game adding more "action".

  • hes in the game and anyway he was purged in the fire in the church

  • Technically Joseph ascended as Urath at the end of the first one. Unless you chumped out and walked away from your destiny.

  • @HelIsGuardian besides its much better this way the combat is not more actiony its actualy more strategic this way

  • Actually, the CECHBxx had hardware modulation, too. Sorry for the mistake.

  • I bought the CECHAxx model, with PS2 hardware modulation. They discontinued it, because it was ridiculously expensive for Sony to include all that extra hardware and still offer it at a competitive price. Two other discontinued models that were available in the United States were also capable of playing PS2 titles, albeit with software modulation: the CECHBxx and the CECHExx.

  • Well, the older models of the PS3 has Ps2 backwards computability..

  • is this a good hack and slash rpg ? better than champions of norrath/return to arms?

and do u know other hack & slash rpg for ps2? except Baldur's gate and Champions

    thx for answer ;)

  • There's always Summoner 1, but that's an obvious one. Try looking into The Bards Tale.

There's probably one or two more that I'm not thinking of at the moment.

  • i don't care if people thought the game sucked! at least it was original!

  • It's a fun game. I broke it out of the closet recently and started playing it again on my PS3.

  • wow i envy you for having a 60gb PS3 i presume?? i have the 40gb

  • Yup, the 60 GB model. I wanted a system that had the PS2 hardware emulation, so I bought one second-hand.

You can always upgrade the hard drive if you want one with more capacity. I don't really use my PS3 as a media center, so the hard drive space isn't as important to me.

  • "The PS3 is compatible with just about any 2.5-inch SATA notebook hard disk. Both 5400- and 7200-RPM drives should work fine. The physical size of the hard disk is important because it has to fit the PS3's 2.5-inch drive tray. As far as storage capacity goes, it doesn't make sense to go through the trouble of upgrading unless you go big: We're talkin' 120GB, 160GB, or even 250GB."

I believe the originals are Seagate brand

  • @GhostIntoTheFog how did u play a ps2 game on ur ps3!?

  • @TheArmoredArmadillo The ps3 models 60 gig and below were capable of playing play station 2 games, but sony offed that feature for the newer models to lower the costs.

  • @TheArmoredArmadillo The ps3 models 60 gig and below were capable of playing play station 2 games, but sony offed that feature for the newer models to lower the costs.

  • @MarillionDeVoid With the PS3s now $299, and that Sony is making profits, there's absolutely no excuse to leave the backwards compatibility out.

  • @JDonahue79 Sure there is, so Sony can resell you PS2 games on the PS3. If you had BC, then you wouldn't need to re-buy games like the God of War series.

  • @teh2Dgamer Oh are you referring to the PS3 with backwards compatibility? I don't get it. Please explain it so I can still keep my hopes up! I just felt the urge of playing games I really liked but I wasn't able to play.

  • @frozengrudge I was just saying that it feels like Sony is purposly keeping BC out of the new PS3 systems so they can start re-packaging PS2 games in HD collections like they did wit GoW, and Sly Cooper.

  • @GhostIntoTheFog Tried to play it on my PS3 (PAL) but it just jitters and that now, hopefull the new firmware might come out so I can play it again....

  • I am a giant Summoner 2 fan, I just love it. I thought I was the only one!

  • I purchased this because of how cheap it was and to my dismay, discovered that I'd been sold the most scratched version of it available...the disc had to be seen to be believed. I might buy it again.

  • I found it yesterday and now just can't let go of it :/

This game is really awesome even if I couldn't kill the swamp boss on my last try :/

  • I got this for my b'day from a friend what 4 years ago. I thought it would be a sucky game. But till this day I haven't completed it, this game got me into great RPG's such as FF and Elder Scrolls

  • This was a great game. Wish i hadn't sold it, thanks for the vid. Have you played Drakan: The Ancients gates? another underrated ps2 gem

  • I was actually going to make Drakan my next purchase. I've actually wanted it for many years now, and you can pick it up for cheap online.

  • Summoner 2 and Drakan- you have great taste in games....

  • I'm also currently playing through the original Summoner, and will have a vid of it up soon. I'm having a hard time getting footage that I find to be acceptable though.

  • I love the ending of Sumoner, one of the best ending ever, incredibly satysfying.

  • I bought the first Summoner yesterday and I must say that this game is a LOT faster!

  • the first summoner is somewhat cheesy, glitchy, and unbalanced, but it has a great story, and that makes playing it all the way through worthwile.

  • I recently got the original as well, but I haven't had time to play it. I'll definitely be posting a vid for it as well in the future.

  • First part is way better, much better gameplay, characters and plot is simply amazing.

  • I actually just recently got the original, so once I play it, I'll probably add a vid of it.

  • Cool, you'll love it, trust me;-)

  • I don't know why, but this somewhat reminds me of World of Warcraft. It almost feels like I'm watching a group quest playing out. Looks like a decent game.

  • Graphics mean 2 things: jack, and shit. I could go back and play "Metal Gear Solid" for PS1 and still have more fun than most present day games.

  • I completely agree. I still play me Colecovision, and it's not for it's graphical capabilities.

Great gameplay is timeless, so I only care about the gameplay of a game, and not the visuals, because games that rely on visuals are usually trying to cover up mediocre gameplay.

  • very cool

  • how long is it? does it have good replay value? are there side quests? are there multiple endings? can u replay levels? how many diff characters can u get? what weapons can u get? are the levels unique or are the same every time is there good customization? does changing your armour change your appearance or not? can u play after you have beaten it or is it over when the credits start? can u have multiple save slots or just one?
  • i still got it, and for a ps2 the grafisch are good enof for me. Now i am gonna play killzone 2:P

  • First of all, KOTOR isnt a hack and slash. Second, how can a PS2 game from 2002 "dissapoint" you graphically? I mean, helloooo! Its from 2002!

  • I recall summoner 2 having better graFX than most games released at that time...

And it was just strait up FUN !

  • all rpg games in the uk get underrated cause we dont play as much rpgs as the japs do sad really i love these games i have brought most rpgs for ps2.

  • i agree with you on everything but the grapghics i thought they were ace considering the size and depth of the game

  • Love this game

  • damn this game was difficult...but brilliant :)

  • Summoner 2 was a good game, but people expected it to be more like Summoner 1, which was brilliant and beautiful. Oh well. I like Summoner 1 better than Summoner 2, but Summoner 2 was still a great game in its own right.

  • I so agree this was an underrated game,I love it so much

  • i have summoner 2 for gamecube and i like it alot, i like how as a queen you have to choose options between each quest you do which can effect your country.

Also own the first game and ill tell you now, if you like this you'll like the first one, i myself prefer the first one

  • I think Summoner 2 is awesome game glad I own a copy

  • If someone wants the first Summoner, I have it for sale :D

  • your ps2 underrated videos rock. :)

and i agree with all of em o.o lol

  • wheres the cheetos?

  • LOVED IT. I loved Maia, loved Neru, all the amazing levels. Why is there no sequel?

  • this game was stupidly good, they should make an up to date summoner. i remember on Taurgis i had a Mud Battleaxe, it hit stupid high hits. I always wanted a staff mould but i never knew how to get it :( good video 5 stars

  • Don't think there is one...

Or it would be extremely well hidden.

  • there was a staff mould because if you go to the mud weapon machine you can see what moulds you can get to make.

  • thats my favourite ps2 game... still.. and in a while i'll play it a second time..

guys, i need your help.. what good "hack and slash rpg" do you know? like champions of norrath, dark alliance...

  • If you've already played the Champions series, and Dark Alliance, then look into The Bard's Tale.

  • its pretty hard to find good hack n slash rpgs on PS2/Xbox and whatnot. Bard's tale is good I hear, but a humorous game. Erm, you're really not left with too much but i'll think about it =)
