@Moo55 And yet my nation managed to select the embaressing Silvia Night. Never heard poohed so much at any act in ESC history. But I'm glad that I didn't vote for that silly Silvia. Regína Ósk got my vote :D
I'm still mourning all the many amazing entries that year - and to think that the only truly AWFUL song and/or performer actually won. Makes me sad still to this day
Wish those great entries eg. this, "Þér Við Hlið", "Andvaka" etc. would have entered in 07or 08.
06 was a record year for Iceland in Eurovision in two ways:
A) The best entries ever to compete to be Iceland's entry
B) The worst entry we ever chose/voted as our contribution to Eurovision.
@solvallagata En satt.
No joke: I was in "Don Giovanni" with Disella in Vermont. She was "Zerlina" to my "Maseto," and she is such a talent. I never knew she was in this contest, though! I'll never know how we got her to come to VT for an opera...
My favourite from our NF in 2006, and most certainly the one that should have represented us. This is simply excellent; a very powerful melody, excellently presented and a great performance.
Wow!! Very good singer, and good original song for ESC, but when I saw this live, I thought this was an interval act from the final XD
PS: The male violinist is Roland Hartwell? The same composer as the song "Maria" by Gunnar Olasson (2006) and the composer of "Enginn eins og thu" sung by Heida (2007)?
Yep, that's him. It must be a bummer to have had two songs in both years and neither have progressed - this came closest, though it didn't even make the top-3 to my dismay. (Can't understand how that awful Friðrik Ómar got 3rd, or 2nd this year for that matter!)
Roland was only performing in this song on stage, the composer of the song was Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson, one of the most succesful Icelandic Eurovision composers. I think he had 3, not 2 songs this year, and even though it must have been a bummer not to win with any, they all made it to the Icelandic finals. On the other hand, he did win one year later, with 'Valentine Lost', and prior to that in 2004 with 'Heaven', performed by Jonsi.
she's amazing
it was amazing to have her here in Ecuador

I love the Icelandic selection 2006 - so many amazing songs! :D
Seriously, the songs in this selection were of a higher standard than the ESC itself!

@klarinetta Yeah, "Þér Við Hlið" was another great one, but my favourite entry was Guðrún Árný's song, "Andvaka" ;)

@Moo55 But unfortunately(as Eurovision national final homepage says) that song only got 6th place but lower placings are not available.

Pathetic on our part. Utterly pathetic.

She was a finalist in the 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She's a fabulous opera singer. Awesome that you got to sing with her.

So was the studio version of "All out of luck". Cutting a line or two for pace wouldn't be a problem.
