Casey Hampton could probably get more sacks if he had the motivation. He was mad about a holding called against him which invigorated him to pressure the quarterback. He usually only gets like that on short distances, goal line, and playoffs. (He has a sack in the Super Bowl)

Cassel wasn't even a college starter. You can't possibly compare the 2. You saw how Cassel handles pressure and fumbles when the coverage is as good as the Steelers. It's like that for Roethlisberger almost every game since Pittsburgh receivers combined don't add up to Moss. Receivers fail to get open and he doesn't try to force everything like Favre. He extends the play and he is the hardest quarterback in the league to bring to the ground. Put him in a good offense and he will succeed.

Yes, he did win those games, because he was being, as you said, double and triple covered. 11 men on defense, so you put a guy into triple coverage and you have 8 guys left to cover receivers or pass rush.
Welker gets his little 10 yard catches because he plays in slot to Randy Moss. He was a 4th string Miami Dolphin. All he has to do is catch the damn thing. When you have to cover the best deep threat in the game it cripples your defense. The success is still because of Moss.

He'll certainly have declined more by then. He has already lost a half a step or so.
Since Moss is a high value player he gets a short contract so that they don't end up paying for him if he does get old and useless. Welker gets a long contract because they can get him for a cheap contract now and not have to pay that much for him since he's not a superstar.
