  • Great perf, I like those rought vocals, even if that's not as "perfect" as studio version, that's the way I like music. Pity that audio quality is bad.

  • yeah abba

  • With regards to my comment below, here is some places with this book for sale. Hopefully this will help any doubters out there of my knowledge and facts! The publisher and the Author himself have no copies left, but Amazon UK have 9 available between £49-£99. Amazon USA 9 copies between $85-$279 and Amazon DE have 2 copies Euro108. Prices have rocketed the past couple of years! The book was £12.95 when new! Well worth the investment. The book is a bible to any hardcore fan!

  • There sems to be a lot of confusion about an earlier comment I made. Abba can sing live, but there are some bad vocals on some bootleg recordings, such as this one. Abba's musical strength was the studio, and should be remembered as such.

Just to make it clear that the following stuff is not 100% genuine live stuff'

Abba the movie - most of this was rerecorded during Sep 1977

Abba live in concert 1979 - And Dick Cavett show 1981, mostly overdubbed and remixed.

All of this is well known!

  • @discogareth

"Well Known" ? What is the source of this? And by source I mean what can be verified and controled by anyone . Where can we find this information? Information that can be reached and controled by everyone?

  • @nyhamnen The source is the book 'ABBA - The complete recording sessions' Written by Carl Magnus Palm. Published by Century 22 in 1994 (ISBN 0-907938-10-8) Featuring input and interviews with all 4 members of Abba, Their Sound engineer and all of the session musicians. This is probably the most in depth and well researched book on Abba ever to be published. Out of print but you may find a copy on ebay or amazon. It catalogues all of Abba's recording sesions. Rare and expensive, but worth it!

  • Really love this live version!!!

  • I would quite literrally sell my granny to have been there.

  • @daftpunk72 LOL! :D

  • I am a huge Abba fan, but Abba were not that good live. People only usually hear VERY heavily overdubbed abba live tracks. The Milwaukee live version of Gimme is alot better vocally. Other bad live versions include As good as new and If it wasnt for the nights. Abba were the masters of the recording studio, and should be remembered as such. All rose coloured glasses to be taken off when 'remembering' them live.

  • @discogareth I strongly disagree. If you have ever listened to anything from the UK 1979 tour, you would think differently. They absolutely rock on stage. And any live version of Fernando I could find was out of this world.

  • @shadowofanight I have never come across any genuine live stuff from Wembly 1979 on bootlegs or on youtube. The stuff that is commercially available, such as Abba Live, Abba in concert, Abba the movie etc are all heavily overdubbed in the studio (vocals and instraments) heavily remixed (By Michael Tretow) and distorted by various remastering. Listen to 4.25-30 Not good! :o( Occasionally there is a good live bootleg recording, but Abba were not a good live act, even Abba admit that.

  • @discogareth

    You´r completely wrong.

Just try youtube.com/watch?v=RLtU7aOnp2U&feature=related . There are many more from this fantastic Wembley live performance by Abba. 3.200.000 have seen this one. So far.

  • @discogareth

To avoid any misunderstandings. Go to Youtube and from there search for the address : youtube.com/watch?v=RLtU7aOnp2U&feature=related . This is live like nothing else....

  • @nyhamnen Thanks for the link, but I think you have misundrstood me. These live wembley live tracks are not really live, they have been heavily overdubbed, re-recorded and remixed in the studio. Abba were great live singers, there are genuine live tracks out there with good vocals. But Abba in concert, Abba that movie and parts of Dick Cavett are not genuine live tracks. Abba strength was the recoding studio.

  • @discogareth

Well, everyone is happy with his own believes....... you think the part with Anni-Frid dancing is also studio....?

  • @nyhamnen The video footage IS 100% genuine live , the audio footage ISN'T. The audio was recorded seperately, overdubbed, remixed and put back onto the video footage. This is well known!

From interview with Micheal B Tretow: Sound engineer

'The recordings would later be subject to extensive overdubbing in Sweden, particularly the vocal parts. Their voices would disappear from the microphones because they couldn't possibly concentrate on singing when they were so busy putting on a show'

  • " no one to hear my prayeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr" .....YES this is Agnetha...goddess!

  • Ok it's not the best quality, so what? It definitely sounds like Agnetha. Thank you for posting.

  • it's not just Agnetha's voice that has a weird sound, this whole recording sounds totally corny, you can hear that sometimes with the synth, or keyboard or the piano or whatever:D I mean, I've never heard Agnetha sing this bad, it sounds very angry sometimes

  • Oh, my lord... this is so fast!

  • Comment removed

  • The Sound is not clear, but every ABBA Fan can hear, that it`s ABBA live. And 100% Agnetha`s voice. Agnetha had sometimes very intensive swedish accent and temperatment. You can hear this on this very rare tape!

  • this sounds are hurrible

  • Zzzz...

  • You are NOT ABBA Expert if you can say that nonsense.Have you ever hear other songs from Paris 1979?Have you ever hear concert in Paris?Do you have this concert?

This is 100% ABBA and Agnetha wich sing this.

  • no need to be offended, he was just asking

  • It's a very difficult vocal song. It's not easy. May be the recording not clear...

  • Oh my god ! what happened to Agnetha

  • clearly it was an off day for agnetha

  • great i loveee it
