EPCOT IllumiNations - The ORIGINAL - 1988 - Part 1 of 4

This version - the original - will ALWAYS be my favorite IllumiNations show. Like Nairda, this show got me interested in classical music. When I was a very little child, I used to pretend that I was "conducting" the music, lasers, fountains, fireworks and lights. Ahh...such good memories. Not to say that Reflections of Earth isn't good (far from it), but to me, the original was pure magic.

This show is the reason why I became enamored with classical music at the young age of 11. It was so much better than the past few iterations of Illuminations. World Showcase was basically dark until after Illuminations, making the building lights even more amazing when they turned them on. And this version was more global in scope (giving each country a song showcase). Plus, everyone was really side by the lagoon rockets when they shot them. I love this show.

I remember 1988. My grandfather died shortly before we all were to go to disney, so we told them of this, and they rescheduled our trip to dec 1988, and gave us rooms in the Grand Floridan the first week it had opened. The original show was much better done than what they now do.
