  • Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! I cant listen to your voice any more! Keep your nonsense to yourself

  • Who is this narator hello he's an idiot and the stupidest person I have heard in a long time !!

  • Religion and government don't belong in politics. This is my main problem with neo cons and the christian right, they try to hold everyone to the same standard as a christian society. I'm a proud conservative, but I want religion out of my government.

  • @Repremender NO REMEMBER it was the statist Lincoln who murdered 500,000 people, in his quest to deny the state's rights for their rich white men to OWN black people. IT'S ALL A GODDAMN conspiracy to deny the states rights. The revisionism and mad conspiracy baiting is rampant on the far right.

  • A Right Wing Woodstock....a self-affirming tea party love-in....well-stated Jack, as always!

  • Jesus jack can you be just a little more pessimistic.

  • Beck is responsible for a lot of research and for exposing politicians on both sides.

He does not claim to be a leader of the tea party.

It's a big mistake to criticize anyone wh contributes as much as he does.

This video is counter productive and divisive.

  • square lol

  • Excellent point at the end. Despite what mainstream Republicans might say, there are many non-religious conservatives and Libertarians. With Beck and Palin injecting religion into this, how do they expect such people to support their cause even if they agree with it?

  • Beck's not that different from them. Look at his shilling as a campaign vehicle for Sarah Palin.

  • I watch Glenn Beck (but not a fan) and I honestly believe the rally to restore honor had nothing to do with being a tea party supporter or member. I believe it was an opportunity for people to do some soul searching and to understand who they are so they can be honest with themselves, therefore being honorable in their lives with their views.

  • Glenn Beck is a Mormon. That means he believes in "Magical Underwear".

Any supporter of his deserves exactly what they get.

  • Every time palin says anything it's a sentence to nowhere.. And @m4nikm4ti where is the post that @bajoverga is "mad"?

  • Comment removed

  • thus video es trash!

  • I forgot to add, I agree with most of your assessment, even if not your politics. Quite a good piece really.

  • The truth of the matter is that people have begun to discover that consumerism is empty and nihilistic. The desperately long for something by which to define themselves, a 'meaning' or a 'cause'. Christianity just doesn't fiil this gap anymore; most church-goers are simply going thorugh the motions, only a small minority hold any degree of authentic 'faith'. This movent gives people meaning, which is why its leaders are able to perpetuate the most ludicrous of claims without anyone even asking.

  • Becks Over Religosity IS planned. He's a Fox News Plant just like Palin what did you expect?

  • If the tea party wants to be taken serious they should dump people like Glenn Beck, Palin, O'reilly or anyone at FoxNews who are only partisan Republicans and nothing more. Their leader should be the guy who started this give my liberty and not debt movement,,,,,,,,,,,, Ron Paul.

  • @33ZO13 Or Michele Bachmann. Who, like Paul, does not endorse nation building. But, also realizes the folly in pretending foreign ne'er-do-wells somehow have Miranda rights. The constitution itself never mentions Miranda rights. That was something coined much later on-and legislated by a court, no less, as a way of reminding criminals of the 5th Amendment.

  • The Tea Party Killed itself when they bobbled theyr head and chose Palin to be a representative for them. Aside from that there is a certain Racist movement that is attaching themselves to the Tea Party. It is obvious and self explanitory, I am no racist or shill or liar. I see things as they are. You who disbelief are not looking with open eyes. I say this, Nationalism and Patriotism is being USED as a tool to further divide us. Escape from these titles, focus on Unity through Love.

  • Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are inviting supporters to join them in commemorating the Sept. 11 attack at an event in Anchorage, Alaska — The Ticketmaster page for the event lists regular adult tickets at between $73 and $130 and tickets plus a 'meet & greet' at $225.

Act now or the Terrorists win!!

  • It was not a political guided rally, it was a rally to restore honesty and honor. If you had a half a brain you could see that.

  • @devil421 I do apologize for being snappy I was down with the stomach flu and was a little edgey.. What GB is trying to do is have people change their lives to become more honorable and honest. He feels the only way we can bring back a higher standard to Washington D.C. is by living by a higher standard ourselves. When we acheive this then we may be able to read the corrupt politicians in our political arena on all sides of the aisle.

  • @Greggers069

Like Jack asked, what does that even mean??

  • I've been thinking this for a while. The Tea Party is split into several factions. The pro and the anti war, but now you are seeing social conservatives and more middle of the road views on government schism. Then there was always the loony racists and conspiracy theorists.

That right there is what will kill it. Remove many of its members and leave it a weak pathetic animal that is everything the left has said it is. Bringing identity politics into it vindicates everything they've said.

  • Jack Hunter is killing the Tea Party.

  • @ProWarMoralReaganite: Your profile name? ProWarMoralReaganite? Don't get it? How can you be for war and moral at the same time? It's a contradiction. Can you enlighten me?

  • @ProWarMoralReaganite Why? Because he's not afraid to criticize fellow conservatives? Boo hoo, far be it for him to speak his mind. He should just be another mute, voiceless drone towing the party line.

  • @kevlonk FUCK YOU

  • SA- Money is not everything! No body just wanted fiscal change in our government. As you have noted, its a nice banner to unite under, but I am extremely disappointed in your commentary.

Your nothing but a party man like Beck- the Libertarian party! So quit your Libertarian = robust objectivity bullcrap! People desire change because they have high standards that are more than likely biblically based. Not just be some inherent human good-evil conflict.

    Grow some balls!

  • @gf4rce

Because every one is totally high on Jesus.

Yeah, this right here is what will kill the Tea Party, shoving your religion down my throat is going to really endear me to you.

Why don't you grow some balls and realize that the more narrow you make a movement the weaker it will be? I don't have anything against your values or beliefs as a Christian, but if you make them some kind of prerequisite for the movement count me out, thanks.

  • @Silvsilvchan Unfortunately what you say is hurtful because it is the truth. Utterly more unfortunate is the truth that there is in fact, a Cabal of leaders world wide who just so happen to delve and even live by Satanic and Occult teachings. Religion being used for political gains is certainly not of God. Real Christians do not adhere to political groups but to Jesus Christ. I am not Christain btw.

You are correct. The Real movement should be one of educating and revealing the BS lies.

  • @gf4rce: what you are saying is classic ad hominem abuse! That is not right :-(

  • @mavmrb3

theres a reason why a classic is a classic man!

  • glenn beck is a trojan horse

  • @RonPaulFuture

Bingo. Beck/Palin are the worst things to happen to the tea party. They get publicity but its negative and allows other MSM to bust on them. Today Chris Mathewes camera crew played snippets from the most ignorant tea party members.Birthers, Obama muslim accusers...ETC. They made the TP look silly. Point is Beck, Palin and FOX are attracting these folks to the tea party and IGNORING THE PRIVATE FEDERAL RESERVE and PERSONAL FREEDOM issues COMPLETELY.

    The TP has been inflitrated.

  • infowars.com

  • That lady looks like the crypt keeper. 0_0

  • Idk if he's killing it but he's certainly not helping it with his pseudo libertarian malarkey and his downright strange antics.

  • My favorite video on the Glenn Beck raly is the one by Reaston TV. They say a lot of the same things you said, Jack:: /watch?v=7CY5aFvRe2E.

  • The reason they came is one of the reasons I go to gun shows, to be with people like me. I get the opposite feeling when I go to a big shopping mall, where I feel out of place with all of the consumerist shoppers, unless of course they have a gun store in the mall, in that case, that is where you will find me. And yes, they do sell guns in some malls, in some of the free states.

As for Beck, he needs to keep to the chalkboard; keep exposing the bad guys; the ones who would take freedom away.

  • Beck's rally in particular was a jumbled clusterf*ck of confusing neocon marching orders, softening people up and dumbing them down enough to follow along in whatever the partisan republicans come up with in time to win elections.

Generally, if the Tea Party is nothing more than anti-Obama then the Tea Party will change nothing and preserve everything. But, if the Tea Party is indeed anti-incumbency then I'll hang out and at least watch where it goes from here.

  • @heymisterderp

So true. The true test for the Tea Party will be in 2012. I'm interested to see if they'll stand firm on their ideals or if they'll settle for anyone not named Obama. I can see someone like Mitt Romney begging for their support. If they're smart they'll stick to their guns (no pun intended) and only support actual small government candidates. That's the only way they'll ever achieve their goal.

  • I agree with the Southern Avenger 95% of the time, but this time he was totally incorrect. "Restoring Honor" wasn't a Tea Party event. The premise of this video is simply wrong.

  • Trashing Debra Medina here in Texas put Beck in the phony category for me: an untrustworthy shill. Beck apparently missed that Lincoln was called "Honest Abe" because he was dishonorable & conniving: His home of Springfield voted against him both presid. elections: they knew him. He became a war criminal & our worst president, laying the ground work for national enslavement to govt. through the progressives Beck says he hates. Restoring honor at Linc. Memorial! Please! Don't make me gag!

  • As a follow up to a reply....I will NEVER forgive Beck for treating Dr.Paul like he was a nut. Every "interview" with Beck he schooled him. He still schools Fox on a regular basis although they dont ask him ridiculous leading questions like they used to. If Paul isnt afraid to go on Fux I dont think Obama should be either. Then again Dr.Paul has the truth and a quick mind on his side. Obama does not..

The tea party needs to kick the neocons OUT and get The Honorable Dr.Ron Paul Back.

    2012

  • @Sigkim Bingo! FOX and Beck both trashed Dr. Paul in 2008. Now the only really effective critics of Obama on FOX are the Libertarians. RNC party boys have been feckless.

Beck has handlers which explains some of the cognitive dissonance in his actions. He came to Texas to trash Debra Medina & support Republican party boy Rick Perry-a complete contradiction: Debra stood for every principle Beck preached on Fox for the preceding year. In contrast, Judge Nap called Medina a national treasure.

  • @robertoray1277 Beck is an a-hole and I dont believe likes Dr.Paul at all. Maybe all emails he got after his "interviews" finally sunk in that Paul was not a fringe candidate he tried to paint him as. During the campaign Beck acted like an IDIOT during Paul's "interviews" with him. And Fox news just plain hated him (remember Hannity crying like a schoolgirl when he won their phone poll).

Colmes was the only one civil to him and Michael Steel said his campaign was OVER.

    Thats another idiot.

  • 100,000 ?? Whatever jack You know there was alot more people there than that.Becks rally had nothing to do with politics it was about restoring honor within ourselves and what this country was founded on. Judeo christian philosophy. I used to agree with you on just about everything but you are starting to sound more and more like a liberal or some hack like those phony conserv. on meet the press.

  • I am sick and tired of the right/left/middle reducing freedom and liberty to some indomitable religious code of conduct. Self determination is the bedrock of our Constitution. The Founders were well aware of the negative influence religious dogma would exert over political power, and sought to limit that influence by explicitly denying the government any control over the free expression/exercise of religious belief. Don't confuse religion with politics.

  • They called everyone together so that they could get everyone's picture for their future "Wanted: dead" posters.

  • Damn, Jack. You said it perfectly.

  • Don't trust ANYONE in the main stream media. Enough said.

  • @majorporpoise

Can we trust anyone in the non-mainstream media?

  • To be completely frank, if you disapprove of big gov't and the fiscally leftist policies, splitting hairs over religion (regardless of where you are) is going to end up ruining the chance to shut out the Dems. The same goes for social libertarians, without financial liberty and clearly defined property rights, the rest of the issues are moot at best. Wait till after we kick the jerks out, and then have all the peaceful discourse you can handle.

  • Beck held his rally at the head of the Lincoln memorial, the president who forced big government and murdered 500,000 people.

  • @bajoverga I would love to have heard Jack mention something about this irony.

  • @bajoverga

    Interesting point.

  • @bajoverga and had journalists arrested and suspended habeus corpus and forced conscription of immigrants into war. Lincoln is vastly overrated

  • @bajoverga omg, really... ! the number of people who actually died was 620,000 AMERICANS. get your facts straight you fool.and if he FORCED big government, why the hell are you mad. u WANT MORE GOVT don't you?

  • @bajoverga How the hell did he murder 500,000 people.

  • @theylied1776 The idea was that Lincoln could have prevented the civil war. He also shredded the constitution by printing his own money (because the bankers wouldn't finance him), throwing people into jail and forcing a draft along with other things he has done.

  • @satarnag 1st, the accusation is MURDER, words have meaning. nothing that you have written here supports where he has MURDERED 500,000 people.

2nd, the south printed their own money as well 3rd, the draft was part of WWI, WWII, the Korean war, and Vietnam. 4th, Andrew Jackson shredded the constitution, broke a treaty and a ruling by the supreme court, all in one day.

You have to do better than that!

  • @theylied1776 the south was right

  • @bajoverga 630,000 plus

  • The Christian right has helped bring us to our current crises. We should have smaller, fiscally responsible governance right now. We should have a Fed that is out of our private affairs instead of legislating and taxing every aspect of our existence. We should never have wasted trillions of dollars and thousands of lives in the pointless Iraq war.

But the Christian right becomes willing zombies to the establishment the second an appeal is made to their moral vanities. NO MORE OF THIS PLEASE.

  • It was basically about people turning to God, restoring their values that made America great. And since people select the politicians, the better the people, the better the politicians they elect

People are less likely to embrace a mass spread the wealth movement, a la Obama, If they have their lives in order

The less justified a man is in claiming excellence for his own self, the more ready he is to claim all excellence for his nation, his religion, his race or his holy cause. - Eric Hoffer

  • @xleax

Jack is not trying to deny God a place in the tea parties but explicitly accepts it. I think he is simply pointing out that empty identity politics is a return to the bad old days when the right swooned over G. Bush because he opposed gay marriage and said Jesus was the person who inspired him most. However, Bush’s absurdly costly war- in lives and wealth- was a debacle and his expansion of the Fed a disgrace.

Having the "right" belief in God does not necessarily a good leader make.

  • @TulliusVII

How is this identity politics? The event was not political nor is he running for office.

  • @xleax

Beck’s message and audience identifies strongly with the tea party movement. While not formally a tea party event the rally drew largely from tea party folks.

I think Jack’s analysis is to point out that tea party folks may fail to stand by real principles of sound governance once they merely identify with Palin’s establishment republicanism and some mushy rhetoric about God. Such identity politics only makes them all the riper to be co-opted yet again by establishment interests.

  • @TulliusVII seems to me, that's your own cynical opinion

  • @xleax

It is a cynicism buttressed by the reality that is the modern, degraded, bloated, wasteful, intrusive right wing conservative political establishment. The Christian majority has brought the conservative party to this bleak place, not my cynicism.

Jack Hunter is issuing a warning. We need real change and not more identity politics that do little more than allow Christians to revel in their moral superiority while our freedoms continue to erode.

  • Beck is resurrecting some of the best ideas of American governance and economics; yet he dumbs the ideas down and rarely credits the ideas' originators or its most articulate proponents. He dips every idea in sentimental goo laced with Christian absurdities and affects the style of a preacher, hence the MOB loves him.

And yes- too much God and not enough clear principles and standards for governance takes us straight back to meaningless identity politics.

    Great analysis as always, Jack.

  • Duped by another NeoCon period.

  • I had great hope for that rally... Unfortunately, I'm just disgusted after seeing it. What the hell were they thinking??

  • Glen Beck is an idiot, a clown in the service of the establishment.

People are stupid shepple just for listening to him

  • The Tea Party movement is one of the most misunderstood organizations in American History. It's just too bad that Glenn Beck made it worse. Great video Jack

  • disagreed

  • Yea I'm a tea party person and I could not disagree with you more. You need to get off you high horse buddy. Now you are just full of yourself.

  • The upcoming 10/2/10 progressive rally compared to the Restoring Honor rally should be interesting, don't you think?

  • I love the clueless! God has been part of the TEA Party Movement from the beginning because we know how and why this country was founded and why it has prospered. At my first TEA Party on 4/15/09 I ended with "Turn back to God . . ." The crowd overwhelmingly approved. This is a Christian Nation. The Beck event wasn't a TEA Party, it was a reaffirmation of our commitment to those who pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to America. The TEA Party LIVES and will past 11/2!

  • Glen Beck's rally had nothing to do with the Tea Party. He even said that in those words several times. He said, "This is not a tea party, leave your signs at home."

  • You totally miss the point of this event. It was not a tea party or political event. You reveal your dearth of knowledge as regards the history of America and the American Christian Church. What you reveal here is a lack of understanding of the character of the majority of American people. There were many people at this event who had never attended a rally of any sort. Sorry, you totally missed it and this reveals the scales that remain over your eyes and other sensory organs.

  • DEMCAD said "The Tea Party has jumped the Shark" I had to laugh. The Governmentals have now taken the tea party without a shot.

  • Beck's plan is to milk the cow until it is dead. He has no plans beyond that. He'll exploit that bridge when he gets to it.

  • As far as I am concerned the Tea Party has been infiltrated by Fox Nooze and the neo cons. I have heard hours of Fox folks talking about the Tea Party and there is never a mention of THE PRIVATE FEDERAL RESERVE of the IRS. Never mentioned is the trillions spent on two bogus wars.

Iv'e said it before. How is the tea Party going to take back the country when it can't keep a hold of it's own parties principle issues.

I fear the TP is lost.

    Good luck folks.

The Honorable Dr. Ron Paul 2012

  • @Sigkim

    Co-Sign.

  • Thank you for sharing. Refreshing to hear as was Max Igans latest abut "The broader wiev of things"

  • Did Beck ever say this was a tea party rally? Most understand exactly what Beck is doing. In order for America to get off its destructive path, we need to restore honor, which is done through the people itself and God. If you watched Beck regularly, you would understand what this rally was about, as he explains it regularly. Instead, you discredit yourself by trying to mislead and misrepresent, just like you do in many of your videos. And for that reason, I cannot trust anything you say Jack

  • @KellyJaelyn there is no honor by calling upon Lincoln's example... or 'god' for that matter. But to each his own...silly, moronic path.

  • Comment removed

  • Always enjoy your videos southernavenger but I didnt think that was a tea party event....maybe I missed something,I thought glan beck wasnt a tea bagger..I love the tea party because it has no national leader...its grassroots with a basic theme of limited government...like the constitution, the tea party has its power locally....you dont tell me what to do in my state...and I wont venture to get involved in your state...the tea party will do just fine I think without any national leaders.

  • But what you dont get is that Beck said that this was not a political rally. Is it wrong to bring people together to talk about their faith. It was about individuals changing themselves and then the political landscape will change with it. I agree this was not a Tea Party rally. Is it wrong to believe this was a group of believers not a political rally. Is something wrong with that?

  • Good vid Jack. I just listened to your interview with Lindsey Graham. I wish you had more time with him. You had him on the defensive. I really hope he takes you up on more interviews. He doesn't get those kind of questions from Greta Van Sustern or anyone else for that matter.

  • glenn beck's rally was a tie in to sell more of his merchandise. fuck glenn beck.

  • Wouldn't say he's killing it, I'd say he's annoying it

  • Beck is an idiot and a charlatan. These dopes would do well to pick up some of the writings of Goldwater and knock it off with the sensationalist bullshit.

  • Jack, did you read Lexington Green? If you're looking for an explanation of what Bekc was doing on the weekend that was the best analysis on it I have come across. Going by your take on it I think this will make things more clear for you.

    Keep up the good work.

  • awesome video. thanks for speaking what i've been feeling for a while now.

  • Glad he hasn't fooled you Jack. And the answer is yes.

  • This event had nothing to do with politics or the tea party.

The message was simple: Repent and turn your heart to God.

Nothing but a return to God will save you.

Nothing but a mass return to God will save this nation.

  • @smec75 Beck was obviously catering to the Tea Party movement. The right has a very clear idea about what "repent and turn your heart to God" means. A mass return to God would be nothing more than Bush republicanism again

  • I always enjoy these essays and look forward to the intelligent and thought provoking aspects of them. Thank you.

  • Wow .. I'm shocked I thought you would have backed beck. I dont like him one bit.

  • @killking37 I was thinking the same thing until I bothered to sit through the video.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree to the questions asked in this video, although I believe it was to bring "diverse" people into a common thinking , giving more than just "tolerance" to one and others core beliefs. It was done in an "attempt" to unify the lines of politics instead to the medias attempt to divide. I am not so sure however that is was successful , obviously as seen in this video and throughout mainstrem media. Just calling what I see...

  • It's another attempt to divide and conquer as usual. Stop looking to these celebrities for your answers and educate yourselves... assholes.

  • @ZombieX13 Neocons are just putting old tea in a new pot.

  • Oh my god. I have heard Rush say that so many times. Get your crap straight.

  • People who curse do so because of their minds being weak and they lack thye needed words to fill in those gaps it takes to talk English. Then set around stucking your thumbs and crying on the computer because those People are known, noticed and have, and you don't. Grow-up !!!

  • @oldgrapeape I would prefer cursing to incoherency any day.

  • Judas goat, Glenn Beck might be one.

    Obama is a Judas goat.

  • Why don't you commie Devils pack-up your Rags, Bags and Family Tree if you have one, and go back to wherever they and you started from.

  • Beck Godwins too much. That reason alone is enough to ignore him.

  • I stopped listening to Beck when he started with his religious crap

  • hey dumb ass, the tea party has nothing to do with Palin or beck.

no one invited Palin to the tea party.

she and beck invited themselves to ruin the tea party.

  • Beck was propped up to counter Ron Paul. It's as simple as that. The liberty movement didn't die out as the establishment expected, so they co opted it. The proper wing of the movement has to stand strong and counter Beck and Palin. I can see how GB has been able to con conservatives. How bumbling SP has done so baffles me.

  • I originally thought that Beck's rally would be more about stopping corruption and really upholding good law and I felt that if he pushed for that by appealing to people's inner morality that that would be okay. Now I worry that he really is sidetracking people into a place the GOP and the country should avoid

  • Killing the Tea Party?

    WTF?

Beck and FOX are the Tea Party!

  • Excellent analysis. You deserve to replace Beck!

  • Restoring TRUTH, LAWFULNESS (the CONSTITUTION) is the only thing that needs RESTORING!!! Jack. Direction can mean anything, so can honor- amongst thieves for instance.

We have to restore the baseline constitution- none of the statutory nightmare of title 26 (just as one example), patriot act 1 and 2,fisa, amensty, no child left behind etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

  • At 2:43 you show your head is up your ass Jack. You are either seriously misinformed or a shill and to refer to those that question Obama's (or Barry if you will) eligibility as "wacky" or obsessed with "trivial conspiracies" is an insult to millions of Americans. I suggest you get in touch with 3 Star Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney that supports Lt. Col Terry Lakin in his Court Marshall concerning Obamas right to order troops. Also it would serve you well to Google Mario Apuzzo.

  • @purldiver "to refer to those that question Obama's (or Barry if you will) eligibility as "wacky" or obsessed with "trivial conspiracies" is an insult to millions of Americans"

It's an insult to people who deserve to be insulted. Most of you think that the world is 6,000 years old too.

Barack = Barr + y = Barry. English nicknames are usually made by taking the first syllable of a name and adding a y. Kids with odd names prefer nicknames. Barry was never his real first name.

  • @melora72 You are a fucking asswipe to assume I'm a christian. We do not know what his real name is or even if he is a US citizen because there is no record of him reaffirming or applying for citizenship after being a citizen of Indonesia. By his own words he was born a citizen of Britain. You are an uninformed ass.

  • Sorry Jack, but it's only God that will save us. That is his basic message. If that isolates him or the tea party so be it. I think it's healthy folks are going forward with there true beliefs, no matter what the political and social effects they are risking. A basic message of "I have the right to be left alone", weather it's religious on monetary should be respected. However the real answer for Liberty is to secede, that's where his message goes wrong.

  • @IslandersMets10

They're not arguing that they have the right to be left alone or to secede. If he did that would be worthy of my respect.

The pamphlets at the restoring honor rally talked about rewriting the constitution without specifying what it would be replaced with. The only hint was that the entire back of the pamphlet was covered with scripture. That sends a pretty strong message and it has nothing to do with small government or states rights.

  • @Ubersuntzu

Rewriting the Constitution on one side, and Christian scripture on the other? I would not be surprised if the First Amendment is the second thing they want to change, right after they change the 14th Amendment.

  • Great video and just what I was thinking.

  • My fear is that the tea party, in general, isn't all that different ideologically than the Republican Party. Yes, they despise Republican screwups and big gov't Republicanism, but they favor a LOT of what the GOP does today: things like the Patriot Act, god in government, social conservatism, wars like Iraq, you name it. The fact that the tea party is against a few big things like TARP or bailouts doesn't make it much of a movement in my view. They just don't wanna look partisan.

  • My main concern is that the vast majority of tea partiers haven't actually thought what they're campaigning for or against through much. It's really just a knee-jerk response because some right-wing overlords told them what they wanted to hear back in Feb. of 2009, and then they ran with the talking points, and they love guys like Beck and whathaveyou. If the tea partiers actually gave it some thought, maybe they'd realize that they also have to tackle foreign policy and defense spending.

  • @whoo689 Yes, they're against big spending, but who isn't? Practically everyone wants to balance the budget, but you don't have to march or be in some rally with knee-jerk conservatives who LOVED what Bush did for 8 years or didn't really pay attention, to be against it.

  • @whoo689 I really think a smart paleocon like you, Jack, should keep a safe distance from the tea party and be only cautiously optimistic, not embrace it fully. At least not until it gets its act together, starts focusing on ALL spending (not just social programs), starts targeting our foreign policy, and actually promotes stuff that's more substantive than what Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin believe. Until the tea party starts formulating an actual official platform.

  • @whoo689 I totally agree with you. The Tea party movement has been hijacked by the Neo Cons. I'm a RON PAUL supporter not a Republican or Democrat, and AT FIRST the Tea party movement was, I THOUGHT, Ron Paul supporters who were "looking for a home". It didn't take long for the Tea Party to become CONTROLLED OPPOSITION. I cant stand Palin or Beck. To me they are Just NEO CONS posing as Conservatives who will derail the liberty movement to make us look bad and thereby secure Obama's 2nd term.

  • @whoo689 It seems to me right now that the only necessary qualifications for being a tea partier are that you hate or extremely dislike Obama and/or dislike the Dems, dislike big spending and hate things like bailouts. After that, it's pretty much fair game, and you can be as extreme or silly as you want. The last thing the tea party needs is religious right bullshit in the mix. Keep God out of it. God should not be in gov't, because whenever the 2 mix, it's almost always a disaster.

  • @whoo689 You can go to church, pray, congregate, say what you believe in in terms of religion, but don't mix it with politics, please. When you get to a political rally or gov't, if you have religious views, figure out a way to espouse those to ALL people in a logical manner. If you can't espouse and spread your views, religious as they may be, in a rational manner that can make some sense to all people, you're not a very bright person, to say the least. Probably not qualified to lead

  • @whoo689 Agreed. The big question for me is, Is the Tea Party more Rand Paul, or is it more Sarah Palin? In addition to being against Obamacare, Rand was against the Iraq War and the Patriot Act, he's anti-income tax, and he's willing to cut the military budget. I think he'll win in the fall, and I'm cautiously optimistic that he will take some courageous stands when he gets in office. But I wonder if Tea Party organizations elsewhere are smart enough to support candidates like him.

  • @whoo689 In any case, you're absolutely right that Glenn Beck CANNOT be the spokesman for this entire movement. By rights, of course, it should be Ron Paul. As a fan of his, and as someone who's also now imbibed Mises and Rothbard's ideas, I certainly don't want to identify with a movement led by an unstable character like Beck. On the other hand, by not getting involved in a movement born of inchoate rage against the establishment, are we missing a golden opportunity to help shape it?

  • They also need much more substantive leaders than demagogues like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. My main beef with Beck is that on his show he's oftentimes downright crazy, making all kinds of wacky connections because of certain words or things that Progressives said 100 years ago but which does not even apply to today. Criticizing policy is fine, but going around saying that someone like Cenk Uygur is the equivalent of Hitler or Mussolini is downright absurd.

  • I am an atheist and I support many of the things the tea party does, however, I think the ilk of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck keep the party from being taken seriously. (so do the extremist elements as well.) It would be good if they develop actual plans for the problems they wish to be solved and also deiced what they stand for rather what they are agaisnt. And definitely they should stay away from mixing religion and politics.

  • The tea party needs to get a fucking platform and start figuring out what it stands for instead of a bazillion tea partiers wanting a bazillion different things. What kind of movement is THAT anyhow?

  • No kidding. While Christianity is undeniably woven into the fabric of our nation's history, it cannot be the driving force in national policy. At the state level, religion is perfectly fine, and state religions are entirely constitutional. A national religion is not. As an agnostic libertarian, I could give a hoot what other people believe provided it doesn't affect my life. The Tea Party embracing religion, and identity politics, is shameful, and Beck ought to back off.

  • If it was about honor it would not have been at the Abraham Lenin memorial!

  • 2 Chronicles 7:14 We need to return to our Christian roots..God can vindicate us. Read Public Law 97-280....Congress declared the Bible the word of God in 1982. Also Muslims, jews ie. non-Christian primarily support Obama as the latest polls demonstrate, also they make up a fraction of the voting block, so who cares if we turn them away. Part of our tradition and heritage is Christendom...

  • Organized masturbation.

Beck and those licking his balls can jerk themselves off all they want - it won't make them patriotic, righteous, intelligent, or establish them as leaders of anything other than their own self-satisfying strokes.

At least Beck is getting paid for it - those in the crowd are ignorantly contributing to their own demise.

  • so christians have to follow the dont ask, dont tell policy in order to attend a tea party rally? all of a sudden morality=religiosity? do you need to be christian to realize that the sexual revolution and porn is decimating our current and future generations? do you need to be christian to see that the institutionalized slaughter of babies is bad and that gay marriage is a mockery of the nature of life? why is it that because someone is christian, society automatically invalidate their values?

  • @autocrat111 Porn and the sexual revolution have liberated people and dramatically reduced the number of sex crimes. Homosexuality actually happens in the natural world amongst many species. They don't have a marriage ceremony but its still gay. The unborn should have rights so I agree with you on abortion by default.

  • @judoskeleton yes it has liberated people, especially from responsibility and constructive restraint. the quality of the next generation is almost completely reliant on the sexual practices and family structure of today. and by observing the sexual path our society has been on for the last 50 years, imagine where it will be in the next 50 years. and ironically even with all this sexual freedom in western societies we actually have an unsustainable birthrate, thus the need for immigrants.

  • @autocrat111 Yes, apparently you do need to be a Christian to realize those things, as I would disagree with all of those things, and I consider myself quite moral indeed. The quickest way to kill the Tea Party's impetus is to force it into the standard religious conservative mold. Which was perhaps the intent behind this all along.

  • A good video as always Jack, we need more people like you in the public eye.

  • Comment removed

  • Is there any way to get a transcript of this?

  • I think that the Tea Party has continually made the same mistake of allowing others to define the movement and may find that changing public perception is difficult once you've allowed others to do it for you. Beck is a delusional opportunist who will sing any song that the masses wish to hear.
