The spirit of the 1990's is very much embodied in the vary sound and animation of this and other BIOS screens from the same era. By far, the PS1 boot sequence is the best sound. The best music is probably this BIOS. The Japanese version is good but I think this one is better.

This is, by far, the most superior of any console BIOS that I have ever seen.

To wit, the visuals and even the audio have a sort of "Demoscene" feel to them: showing off several of the rotation/scaling capabilities of the hardware as well as the extended PCM channels. This is a hardware tech demo and a badass boot screen.

Once upon a time the Sega US marketing team was afraid that Americans would respond negatively to the music and graphic styles of Europe and Japan, so they were changed from the stylized atmosphere/abstract to a picture of the Earth, as well as changes in music.

Sonic CD suffered from the same problem as well, as you can tell the US soundtrack departs greatly from normal Sonic style.
