I have seen a lot of people use this style out in the deserts around Los Angeles. Once the wind picks up the entire top of there head gets filled with sand. The section he takes under his chin goes around the top of the head in other styles that do not leave you with a literal "sandy blond" look.

@mrhsfm first of all... you wouldn't be alone in the desert of the middle east unless something went horribly wrong and you got separated, and second... a good portion of guys on patrol use this to keep sand and dirt out of their eyes and face, so everyone else out on patrol is used to seeing this. the situation you are describing is so unlikely and that's why it has never happened.
