During Viet nam my Dad was forced to watch this due to counter the brainwashing techniques the VC were using in the brothels. He loved GM because it made his tank and helped get the boys to Nam so max Corporate profit could be made--just like on the Movie Catch-22.
He applied for some jobs at GM after doing 6 combat tours in Nam but because he was considered too Gung-ho for GM they sent him to Alaska to work on the ice conditioner testing--he had a kill record of 65 brown bears in 15 days.
It's too bad GM didn't hire Disney to do this commercial. They would have done a better job on the animation.
Freaky cartoon. I think if I was a little kid in 1936 and saw this at the movies, I'd have freaked the hell out! But thanks for the commentary, it was pretty funny!
Yeah, It's harder to get her in on stuff since she got married, but I got another on downloaded, and I'm going to save that one for when me and her can do it together.
Oh, and it did seem like the elf guy would be the size of a mouse in one scene, and in the next, be the size of a small child, LOL.
I enjoyed the cartoon and had never seen it before even though I grew up in a family of GM workers and I too worked for GM for 5 years when I lived in Michigan.
nevermind i didnt finish watching before i posted that last comment so now i know why it said general motors in the begining of the vid.hilarious i would love to see another vid like this
wow I didnt realize I was watching a commercial till about 3/4 th way though... sneeky GM sneeky!

When it comes to Cinderella (not the rest of the cartoon), it looks like they were trying for a Fleischer cartoon kind of look.
Oppledeldoc 3 years ago
This was a Fleisher kinda cartoon; Max directed it.

Yeah, It was made in 1936, I guess back then someone thought this would be a good way of selling cars, LOL.
You can find all kinds of crazy stuff from way back then. and most of it is Public Domain, so you can do whatever you want with it.
Well, thanks for watching, man.

2:50 O.o... Heck of a beard for a guy who talks like a 5 year old.
The animation is incredibly inconsistent. And no, I have no more desire to buy a Chevy than before... I would like a Chevy engine in my Toyota though.
