  • Do you have any of those snap bean seeds left?

That is a nice little tiller, Troy Built?

  • @TheOntarioGardener I do, but I really don't think they are worth growing. They look good, and produce ok, but thats it. As a snap, the taste wasn't too good. As a shelled bean/pea, taste was ok, but they were a pain to shell. I mowed down my last 2 rows, didn't feel like messing with them anymore. Gonna stick to Strike beans for snaps, and purple hulls for small peas. The tiller is a Yard Pro, does a decent job.

  • Do you know the variety of the top snap beans? I would like to order some.

  • @eegj1 No I don't. I was told simply "top pick snap bean". I am about ready to do the final followup video for these. In my opinion, they look nice and are easy to pick..but thats all. I think a typical snap bean wins hands down.

  • i would like to try some if you please

  • Hey there, I'd really like to try a few of those seeds if you have extra. Those are huge snap peas!

  • those are some long snap bean!!! have you tried them fresh??

  • @saritasgarden I only had 4 plants, so I had to save all the seed that I could. There seems to be some question as to whether these should be snapped, or grown for the bean/pea. I dunno. But that one row is already standing up straight. So I plan to find out !

  • Those look tasty. If you still have extras, I would love to see how they would do in my garden.

  • @susannamcintyrethx, I can spare a few more.

  • LOL DOnald will smile, guaranteed! He used a golf cart! ;-p

Say, can you make bean sprouts with these little guys? Also, do they grow back each year or.... (sorry for the dumb question)?

Lastly, this plant looks like it would easily train up and over, canopy style, like Dan posted above, but I dunno, what do you think?

  • @anyusmoon1 I dont think sprouts would work, they're kinda big for that. Grow back? I wish ! These are not running beans. The runners are only about 3 ft, and by the time the runners make a few beans, the main plant is done. I think the Cobra bean that Dan was talking about would be a good one to try on a canopy..or let it climb a tree !

  • The Jolly green giant would be jealous...Pass the beans please....

  • @foofarters yea man..those things look like they could feed a giant !

  • Dang,i just check my garden shop and they do have those

  • @RICHROOFER1 As soon as my taters are done, I'm planting more !

  • I would love to try some. I am willing to send you some postage. Let me know. Thank you.

  • @praterclp lol...no postage necessary ! Just PM me an address !

  • Nice work Bobbi! I love your videos! We planted some and they are already blooming so I think their gonna do great!

  • @Dpfenster09 Thx D. I think you're gonna like them.

  • I grow a climbing French Bean or Snap Bean over here in England called "Cobra" they are unbelievable.

Just 6 plants can produce about a 2 gallon bucket full of stringless tender beans every 4-5 days.

They'll grow to a foot long and are still real tender,no beans inside.

I train them up a cane and then overhead on strings and the beans hang down like a grape vine and are dead easy to pick.

I don't know if you can get them over there but if you can you got to give them a try.

    Cheers,Dan.

  • @allotmentdiary I looked them up and found a site over here that has them. I read a UK forum thread that spoke very highly of them. Definitely worth looking into..Thx !

  • looking good

  • we all plant winter rye grass for our cover crop gives good nitagen , plus you can pasture animals on it...mountainman

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom My first choice was Rye, but the feed store didn't have any on hand, and said they were too busy to get it from the mill. I had the ground ready, so I just took the wheat. I've heard that clover and alfalfa are very good, but they're not exactly cheap. I'll try to get rye again this year.

  • @mhpgardener Ha! I was just about to type in that clover might be a good thing for you, especially if you have any grazing going on. Clover needs lime. There's a very cool video around about clover paddock ranching that makes real good use of small farms for grazing a couple of cows. You fence off areas, use electric to hem in without damage and voila! Tender, high protein, low fat meat. Plus the bees will love it.

  • @anyusmoon1 If the economy continues down hill, I may have to do that.... I reckon I'd better start making plans !

  • @mhpgardener Yes sir, I reckon so. :-(

Or smaller meat and milk animals like goats and sheep? But I hear goats pull grass (clover) out from the root, sheep do not- interesting how scripture divides the goats and sheep too, eh?

  • You passed the test. LOL Great video Bobby.......Donald

  • @webcajun Thx D ! It might look like I'm sleeping in class...but I really do pay attention !

  • Looks good Bobby. I spotted one bean on my bean plant. Im thrilled LOL.

  • @Allen2045 Thx. I barely made enough snaps last year for a good meal. Hoping for much better this year. You've got a bean....I'm just glad I still have plants !

  • I would love 4 or 5 seed to give it a shot. Gonna till a garden plot out at the retreat and hook up a IBC rain barrel to water on drip irrigation. Wish me luck :)

  • @BexarPrepper Please send a SASE along with a money order in the amount of......oops, wrong account..lol. Let me know where to send them...and good luck !

  • @mhpgardener LOL I would if you wanted me to :)

  • Go forth and reproduce. :) God amazes me everyday. Very nice looking bean. I would love to try some of these...Maybe enough for a 20ft row if you have any left.

  • @jwlrymkr Lets see, 20 feet divided by X/foot multiply by 6, carry the 2, divided by my lucky number...I think I have enough for that ! I think your add is on the BG mailing list, I'll get them out tomorrow!

  • @mhpgardener Mucho Gracias my friend! If you cant spare that much, a few seeds will be appreciated. :)

  • Looks like you have a huge garden going on yourself. lol How do you water all of this? A lot of hoses, overhead sprinklers? Nice beans, that is great on your part making your own seeds, wow!

  • @loislaney23 I have stuff planted all over the place. I pump out of the creek, just a well pump, generator, 1 1/4 black pipe, and a regular field sprinkler. Because of the distance, I can only do about 75 x 75 in one setting. So this year, I made the garden spots that size to keep from having to overlap when watering. Thx, thats one of the cool deals about a GH...already made a crop, and ready to plant again !

  • Just a great video, done very well. This past early spring I found a yellow squash had sprouted (from last years crop) in the garden this year and its became a special project to see if I can keep some of its seeds this year for next year also. I figure if it grows well here in my dirt and likes to come back each year I might as well not fight it and try to work with it. Again, Thanks for sharing.

  • @bowlmeoverva Ty Sir ! If that squash does well, I'd sure keep some seeds. It will have proven itself to be quite a fighter ! I don't think you can go wrong with a plant like that.

  • Thanks Bobby. I've been wondering what those things looked like.

  • @twiggybuds Thx tutti... I think they're gonna be great, so much easier to pick than regular bush-type snaps. Much like Top Pick PH peas that everybody is so crazy about.

  • Have you ever grown white half runner green beans? I planted some this year and am wondering if I need to trellis them. The seeds look like navy beans and I want to let them dry and use them for baked beans. Also, are beans bad about cross pollinating? I'd like to plant some blue lake green beans too but was afraid they would cross. I've only grown one type of bean at a time in the past so I don't know the answer to this one. Good job on multiplying those seeds!

  • @imstillworkin I did them one time. Having a wife from the hills, she insisted I try them at least once. They used to dry them and make leather britches. Yes, they need a trellis. I strung them up...didnt do a real good job of it, but still made decent beans. I dont like having to do the extra work of a trellis, but my back may say otherwise. I've never heard much about cross-poll in beans. I'd have to do some searching to get an answer on that one. Thx !

  • Good job! I'm enjoying your videos. :)

  • @baddogonline Ty Sir ! I'm trying to get better at this !
