hey i'm having this similar problem on a 91 sl, i was wondering how to get to the end cap because that wheel well is in my way and im not trully sure how to get around that. sorry for being a noob about this but iv'e never done anything with a tranny. also when i put the end cap back on do i need to put an adhesive on it or just bolt it back together?
@MrJustforschool There should be like a little dust shield thing, should just have pop rivets around the edge of it. I don't even have splash guards on my car haha, too much a pain to get them off. Once you take the end cap off you'll need to tighten that nut like hell and then redamage the threads to keep it from comming off. After that just put some RTV sealant around the end cap, pop it back on, and bolt down
Geez, poor thing. What year is it? I still really want a 3000GT, basically between a '97 and '99, and I want to do my own service on it whenever it has issues.
It's a 93. The nut backed off the upper gear set and ground through the housing. IDK why my friend was so shocked,a parently its been known to happen.
@r34skylinegtrbhp NICE, man! That's a $400 cut on a transmission from a professional motorsport company! I can't wait to get my 300GT next year so I can do this kind of stuff. :D
@SuperMario811 Yeah it's great fun, I have both a FWD and a VR4. The TT's are obviously alot faster out of the box and alot worth while worth modding. I could only get one car and the parents wouldn't let me have anything turbo so I got my na and went crazy with it for lack of any other option. Way too much cash for how fast I'm goin' lol
@r34skylinegtrbhp LOL that sucks. I'm probably not gonna get a Twin Turbo myself, unless I find an original set and place it in a base model or SL, but they're both FWD. :(
Hopefully, I'll find a VR-4 between 1997 and 1999 because I like their headlamp design and huge rear wings! I plan to do light mods with other Mitsubishi parts, like Recaro seats is one thing I'll do, maybe, but hey, if I become REALLY lucky, I'll just skip to an Evo VIII. :D
@r34skylinegtrbhp Im on my third NA tranny! Apparently they dont do too well with the extra power lmao! Ive got a built tranny with LSD now and its amazing!!! I just cammed my 3000GT and it was worth EVERY PENNY!

@r34skylinegtrbhp Something told me that was a 1993 model, instead of a '92. As long as you got the parts, it should be an easy fix, yes?

@SuperMario811 Yeah I got another trans with a Quaife LSD, was $1,000 but the diff itself is worth 1400 and it's freaking SICK
