Out of discussion previously I was left with the impression that it was a country governed by one law for all people.
So I looked up the definition and I was totally off.
Merriam's 1 b) does use a similar definition to protagon.
Funny enough many nations with republic in the name don't qualify to protagon or some of the more specific definitions of republic as the small number aren't elected by the rest.
"The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of the government, in the latter, to a small number of citizens elected by the rest; secondly, the greater number of citizens, and greater sphere of country, over which the latter may be extended."
Great description of the two. I would like to add to your thoughts. I would say that it is a mutual partnership between the two. Right leaning and some leftist politicians use corporate money to get elected and then protect that corporation. But unions also have huge influence over leftist politicians. At any rate, they both use their power to redistribute wealth from other corporations, entrepreneurs and the wealthy and.... and the middle class, to the welfare state. It is a vicious cycle.
Not only that but also Republic has to ablie by the laws of the people and govenment know as the Constitution, that why USA is in trouble because they no longer follow there own Constitution.
The global corporatists want what could best be described as a sort of plutocratic kleptocracy which is really just fascism taken to the point where it is tantamount to global neofeudalism.
i.e.
we will all be "slaves on a global plantation", or serfs.
democracy = serfdom
Because a few hands control the very environment in which the mob throngs about.

@zzzpr0t4g0n1stzzz Clearly Madison disagrees with your interpretation, as does Merriam-Webster and the rest of human civilization.
However, this being a free country, you are free to continue believing whatever your heart desires.

@zzzpr0t4g0n1stzzz see federalist paper number 10:
"The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of the government, in the latter, to a small number of citizens elected by the rest; secondly, the greater number of citizens, and greater sphere of country, over which the latter may be extended."
So yeah, you are the dumb ass.

Great video! The United States is a constitutional republic with a framework the limits government powers.
Well done.

We are a nation where the rule of the law is supposed to counter the corruption of men, today even the system of law has become corrupt.
It has been well remarked that a democracy is "two wolves and a sheep deciding on whats for dinner"

Perhaps one of the most important distinctions that needs to be understood by everyone.
The difference between a constitutional republic with democratic instruments and a democracy is as significant as the distinction night and day.
