  • awesome .

  • Nice job dude, love it :) Personally, I prefer The Clovers' version but I know that wouldn't be very interesting to drum along to, this version's a little funkier and as more room for improv and cool fills. Keep it up, I know you're not miming.

  • Very fluid. I love the right and left handed use of the hi-hat...so smooth! :-)

  • wooooow lovin' it!! Soooo much...FUNK

  • Tight and crisp on the drums, beautifully splashy on cymbals.

    Great stuff.

  • Nice mime... I heard the cow-bell... but you weren't playing it!

  • @Carsonetric neither was the original drummer you moron, it's played by the percussionist, he is playing so maybe you should engage your brain before putting your mouth into gear!!

  • WOW great playing you should be in band with the Coasters!

  • amazin skillz!! LOVE IT!!

  • Thumbs up if the Heineken commercial brought you here.

  • that was one of the best performances i heard. u have unbeliavable groove and rithym.

  • What is Rob Pert doing now...still keeping up on the drum's or

in a band ??? He should be using his skill's - - Got Talent !!!!!!!

  • @Qupey Rob lives in Leeds now and in a band called Barretta Suicide..

    All the best

    Mart

  • @mart22222 - - Thank You 4 the update!!!!

  • @Qupey oops miss spelled it 'Berretta Suicide

  • Love drums man great piece of work, cheeers thumbs up

  • I love drums period, anyone that can play them are alright with me. I grew up listening to Wipe Out lol

  • Now that's what I am talking about, doing a dance on them skins!!!!!!!!!

  • You're a natural skin whacker, better get yourself into a band with YOUR name in the band name - i.e. Fleetwood Mac. If you find a find a bass player called Wal, you could call yourself WalMart! Keep whackin', you're great!!

  • What is the original song? Sounds different with the Coaster's original.

  • @looonger other versions are by the Clovers The Searchers and a doo wap version also by the Coasters

  • Very nice except the low music sound.

  • @looonger thanks m8, not sure why the sounds low tho, its seems much the same as other vids on here.

  • Ive just heard the future from the past thankyou

  • I really enjoyed you playing the drums so smoooooth. Really great.

  • @mart22222 hahahahaha. Take it easy friend. Little bro just got hold of the computer. Thanks for that reaction!

  • Die knaap heeft het in de vingers snel een nieuwe clip perfect.

    Henk

  • Excellent Work Man. Keep up the good work.

  • owsome drummer I have to love this song

  • The most dynamic drum performance i heard on a song This kid has chops for days.

  • Why are people saying this is dubbed? Any drummer can clearly see its not! lmao! Obviously they hope it is dubbed as they cannot do it themselves or have nothing better to do! Great cover :)

  • nice one. Best version of that song.

  • nice moves dude great video and you can totally tell that he's playing:)

  • good job! nicely done!

  • Thats the most percise drum cover I've ever seen. Very tight.

  • I personally liked it very much. You don't see or hear that kind of drums often from -- I suppose -- a non-professional.

And for those who belive this is fake/dubbed, well, they should consider put on (new) glasses and/or maybe do some exercises in just sheer observation. :))

  • Great drums!! It really makes the song.

  • Dope Track!

  • Sounds like you are not even playing ,,are you even hitting the drums ?

  • @bdrich Firstly Rob didn't post this I did and I can assure you the drums you hear are the drums you see, if you listen even closer you'll hear the original Coasters drummer bleeding through and if you had taken the time to find LP # 9 by the Coasters (not Clovers or Searchers or anyone else) you'd hear the difference m8.

  • there some skill there mate :)

  • Rob:

You keep it up. You are good and with practice you will only get better.

If you want to see what the consumate musician can accomplish with

dedication and practice.....Tune into TOMMY EMANUELL here on "You Tube"

You too can become the best that ever was!!!!!

  • i had to watch him twice, now i wanna dance with him...

  • he's a trip to watch.....ya gotta love him

  • @christie987 Thankyou

  • Very Good..! Muito bom...!

  • this is dubbed

  • @memalley You're absolutely right, he was originally playing in french.

  • @mart22222 HAH -- sick burn, sick drumming, keep it up

  • Superb style....your bass drum work is Tight as hell and Spot on...........

  • AND seven years later, I wonder what that kid is doing!!!!!! Fantastic.

  • AWEsommEEE!!!!!!

  • nice skills man

  • you're the man

i especially loved your roll at 2:08-2:09

    right on - no mistakes

    keep doin what you're doing

  • what are those hi hats he's using? they sounds wickid

  • They're actually 'Headliner 3k' 13" brass hi hats with a retail price of about £50 at the time. Headliner were a spin off from Meinl (I think) and were really good for the price. Look around for them, you may find them in a store somewhere, if not check out the 'Stagg' range, I use about 5 splashes (on my left above the hats) and they are excellent for the money.

    Martin

  • good job man

  • awesome drummer!!!

  • Rob, You are a great talent. I wish my granddaugher were older.

  • Rob, you are a great talent.

  • great job!

  • wow! great vid

  • Skill...

  • Wow ! what a Drummer-right on cue & great

feel ! Just right for this song.

  • nah get it the robert johnson blues guy story

  • I guess not everyon's as familier with the story of the crossroads as us.Actually he didn't sell his soul but he did neglect to tell me that he was left handed when he started lessons so I taught him right handed which is why he such equal power in all 4 limbs.

One last thing for jazzbansdball, he is playing basic (for Rob)because that's all the song needed to feel right, that's called taste.

  • "that's all the song needed to feel right, that's called taste"--Agreed.

I never disputed that, I merely said to play like that is not "God" like.

  • fair enough.

  • i recon this boy sold his soul to play drums like that

  • He is good, but this does not require soul selling. It is pretty basic.

  • really good :D

  • His Fit !

Y is this song so catchyyy ...

    Waheyy LOL

  • this guy is a monster! on cue!

  • Good drumming and great version of love portion no.9. Good feel drummer!

  • really good. who was the original artist on this version of the song?

  • The Coasters I think but first in the 50's in a doo wap style and then again in the 60's with this version.

but I could be wrong and somoene else may have recorded an earlier version.

  • Or did you mean the original drummer, in which case I don't know either, sorry.

  • The clovers (1959)

  • didn't the searchers also do it?

  • I think so. There were several covers.

  • great ... that grooves ;)

  • haha, no matter how old you get you'll always rock on drums :D. Chris looks younger than that in the videos. Ive Pmmed him.

  • yeh Chris was a yaar or 2 younger when those were done in fact he's well overdue doing another so keep looking

    Mart

  • how old was he then?

  • About 16 or 17, I think there are some later ones on my channel if not I'll post them for you (he's 22 now).

    Mart.

  • Check out chip11111

  • yeh ive seen the lost prophets one, he has a really nice, fast finger technique :D

  • And great double bass drum technique as well, I'll dig Rob's slipkknot and Santana ones out as well so keep looking

    cheers Mart.

  • seen the under another username, way ahead of you man ;) kidding :D, i didn't even see his left foot move apart from keeping time on the hi-hats. I thought it was a bit toooo good for heel-toe on one foot though. Are you from england or america?

  • England, Northants actually. The other username is actually my sons, he's about your age so the ones of Chris are him.

Try sending him a message or friend request you two would probably have a lot to talk about

    Mart.

  • oh right, i had a funny feeling you were american for some reason, i live in halifax, in yorkshire. My drum kit sounds terrible :( i'm recording a solo on my teachers kit soon, ill post it up in a couple of weeks, should be better. Thanks, ill PM him.

  • how old is chris, 14?

  • He'll be 15 in Oct so not much older than you, when you message him explain how you know me because I'll probably forget to tell him (I have up to now anyway), getting old, lol

    Mart

  • Great job on a boring drum song. Is your nick name after the drummer on some steely dan songs who invented the Perdy(Sp?) shuffle.

  • thanks for the compliment and in answer to your question 'purdie' is his nickname because his surname is Pert not to be confused with the king of shuffles Mr Bernard Purdie.

This vid was recorded about 4 years ago, rob is even more awesome now.

    Martin (Robs drumteacher)

  • wow not many people post stuff for this song

  • wheres the cowbell at 01:00?
