Oh, dear- all these videos are making my heart hurt for my chihuahua to be a puppy again!

We had to put my little girl in a similar situation for paper training- we called it "Peepee Prison", and she would cry so pitifully!

@connorl33t its common sense Conor. they are tiny dogs and they want to be around you at all times. Chihuahuas are one of the breeds that take to their owners and want to be around them at all times and when they cant they get upset and I dont blame them. maybe you could build her a special thing where she can see everything at all times so she or he or they wont feel abandonded. and let me ask you something how old are you? I dont want to upset you

@mariasmunchkins Thanks for the advice.The playpen was very temporary. Just a place to put her for a bit while the adults have to do their own business. She get tons of attention, but not spoiled. She's a well behaved and happy dog. That video is one of the few times she cried like that. I just happened to have the camera out already to capture it.

Oh bless. It seems like your puppy is developing separation anxiety because dogs are pack animals and are not meant to be alone, particularly puppies but because humans have domesticated dogs and cannot be with them 24-7, dogs have developed separation anxiety. The best way to stop this behaviour is to get a medium sized cage and make it all warm and comfy, put an item with your scent on it in there and practice leaving the puppy in there for 20 mins at a time - see next comment

Chihuahuas love to "sing" when kept together in groups. It's great to have three or four together & start them off with a howl or two (not too loud, their little ears are sensitive, & damage to their eardrums is possible). It's just something they do - part of their monkey-smart personality. I trained my little Isis to use a litter box from the beginning & puppy proofed the house so she has free run of the place.
