Hey Dude, you absolutely NAILED this song! It's on play number 4 now, just can't get enough. To say you've got a musical ear is putting it mildly - closer to genius I'd say. Anyway, I'm gonna check out your other stuff - I'm just wondering if you ever heard the piano solo in Layla - I'd love to hear you do that one!
Tears of joy man!! I've been wanting just the piano part to listen to for a long time. I really, really thank u for postin this. Wow. Every since I was a teen. . .I'd wait till the very end of SNL to hear this song. I swear the organist at my old church had to be doin the same. Hahaaa. Cuz the very next mornin. . . hahaa.
Wanted to let u know that I listened to ur piece numerous times to pick me up when I'm down. For some reason ur piece reminds me of the wonders of life...telling a life's story. U have great talent and wanted to show my appreciation. U make me wish I didn't ditch my piano lessons when I was a kid. Hopefully someday I could learn how to play this piece as half as good as u. Gl in life n ur passion.
I'm 25 and have been playing piano since kindergarten and I wouldn't even want to be in the same room as you. From a fellow player, you are sick bro. All the best man.

@MaxxFordham I dug deep into the archives and found old recordings of this song from the 70s! You usually never hear the full, improvised solo piano cadenza because it's being played as the local affiliates are airing commercials right before the final goodnights and credits.
Oh yeah, from before you were even born (they started on the year after I was born--in fact, my birthday is in just a few days from now, on 02/23).
They always time the start of it so that when they come back from commercials that part we hear is form the about 1:23 of your playing. I wish that sometime they'd start their playing only once they were alreacy back from commercials. One of these years, I'd like to go watch SNL in person!
Haha, "well-played"! That's that thing ya say to someone who had supposedly created a prank or something like that on someone else and was somewhat or completely successful! :D
@khanyu2003 There are two things you have to be able to do. 1) Memorize the chord progression, which isn't that hard with a few weeks of practice... and 2) Practice basic, generic jazz licks that you can overlay on top of that chord progression you memorized. Then you combine the two steps together and you've got something that sounds a heck of a lot like the Closing Theme from SNL. Might take a little while, but if you work each day on it, you'll definitely make progress!

Hey, that's pretty good, dude!
Well, I didn't recognize it until about 1/3 of the way through (about 1:23), because that's the part SNL uses.

dude, that was freaking epic.
how long do you estimate a beginner to take to reproduce the song that you've played here?
thanks, the theme is one of my all time favorites.
