It wasn't that Obama stopped wearing the pin it was Obama's explanation or rather over-explanation as to why he had stopped wearing it that rubbed some folks the wrong way. Unions need busting. Weapons were sold, not given, to Iranian rebels without Reagan's authorization or even knowledge. A large portion of the money earned went to the Contras which was a good cause. Carter deregulated the airlines and trucking. Reagan deregulated the savings and loan industry which then succumbed to corruption by the likes of the Clintons and others. Deregulation is GOOD though. Government has no place in industry. Reagan also bankrupted the USSR and ended the cold war.

Unions force employers to pay way more which raises their overhead which is passed on to the consumer and, in some cases, drives them out of the country causing a loss of jobs here at home. The Contras weren't quite what they claimed but compared to the Sandinista's they were by far the lesser of two evils. Deregulation is good. We live in a capitalist, free market society. He retired at 48, is worth several hundred thousand dollars, has full medical/dental for life and receives a pension that is more than my current salary.
