  • What a true professional!

  • It'd be nice to see him do more fun roles like that, if he wanted to. I never saw the movie, but I'm sure he did a wonderful job

  • I suppose it is fun for an actor to play a character that is complete fantasy. You can be as crazy as you want when you're wearing seven layers of scull make up and a black cloak. Try being that over the top in an Armani suit. It doesn't fly.

  • MATIAS PLAZA MATIAS PLAZA

  • Frank Langella's Skeletor is one of the most underrated villains ever!

  • That's so sweet he did the role for his children. :) What a great dad

  • this was shot with a potato...

  • Lots of actors that have played over the top villains say it's their favorite roles.

  • I think for an actor like him, who can pick n' choose his roles I'm betting something like Skeletor is fun. Yeah it wont win an Oscar but you can play it over the top and have a blast doing it. Especially as if, like he said his son was into Masters, I can see why an actor would do it.

  • great actor great movie

  • @DrummerBoy93100 He is beyond Vader and the Emporer. He survived the fall in the shaft. Pure Evil.

  • Listen to how he says the word "resist" - that's Skeletor right there! :)

  • Hey, he played richard nixon, what could be more evil than that? nixon would have picked dracula up by the ankles and used him to beat skeletor to death. that's evil.

  • dude was a fucking force of nature as skeletor. he fucking owned the whole movie

  • His work as Skeletor is great, cannot imagine anyone who could do it better...

  • Fantastic film, brings back good childhood memories when I used to watch it in the 90's.

  • This He-Man movie was otherwise incredibly cheesy low-budget crap, but Langella's Skeletor had all the best lines and he made it worth watching.

"I must possess all, or I posses NOTHING."

  • Without him it would have been a flop. Its a great kids film but even as a kid i always remembered how very cool i thought he was in it.

Just watching it again today has made me look at all his movies and he has never got the love he should have. Great actor

  • "Oh, why not?" Best answer ever!

  • Langella's Skeletor was a fantastic villain, among the greatest cinematic villains of all time in my opinion -- EASILY up there with Ledger's Joker. This role alone legitimizes the film, and provides what legitimacy there is to the entire Masters of the Universe franchise.

  • He played the role PERFECTLY.

I couldn't imagine anyone else as Skeletor.

This movie was a huge part of my childhood.

    Thank you mister Langella.

  • I beleive the movie holds back how much of a great job frank did with this part. He is great actor and was awesome as skeletor. Franks role and acting in this movie are so underrated it's a shame. Frank langella is a great actor and deserves more credit for the effort that he put into this role. This movie is lame and his part in this movie will always be overlooked because of that I think.

  • the movie was not that good and didn't follow the show at all. yet i admit i always like the actor playing Skeletor, just never knew it was this guy! :D

  • @henkman00

Yeah, I didn't know that was him either. O_O Crazy...

  • Ce fut le seul bon acteur dans ce film de toute façon. Sans lui, ce film n'aurait pas été seulement un flop mais une catastrophe totale

  • Damn that was him!!?!?

  • It must be a lot of fun to put on a lot of makeup and play a totally over the top, cartoon villain.

  • Skeletor was his most evil role...next to Richard Nixon, of course :)

  • underrrated role...

  • I wonder what his son thought of him as Skeletor when he saw the movie. Was he just happy to see his father as a classic villain, hiding under his chair, or both? One thing's for sure it'd be epic if your dad was not only playing Skeletor, but practically making you completely look past the movie's flaws.

  • His best role was as Dracula. He was so good in that movie. :)

  • @liberty3111 When did he play Dracula? What movie was it?

  • @sirfortiscue 1979

  • This is the guy is one of my favorite actors. He gave the best classic Dracula performance ever.

  • The movie is only him, he is so good, that you want Skeletor to beat the crap out of heman.

  • skeletor was the best of the motu film...his acting was flawless...

  • I wanna hear what he had to say about "Dave"!

  • lol his son was he-man 4 yrs old running around with a sword. sounds like me in the 80's.

  • man should have won an oscar for that $#it

  • Yeah, I loved that movie as a kid. Looking back at it now, that movie was a little cheezy, but he still carries every line with a power that is un-paralleled in cinema.

  • I am not a He-Man fan at all, but Langella was so badass in that movie it hurt.

  • I know it's very uncool of me but... this is one of my favourite movies :)

  • @GreyDancer42 mine too :-)

  • It's true, he was the only one who took that movie seriously and it shows (horrible movie)

  • FRank Langella brought class to this cheesy MOTU movie. He is such a great actor that shined in that movie when everybody else sucked! Kudos to Langella! He is who's worth watching in the movie!!

  • far i thought the guy who played skeletor was always the guy who played the jokers boss in the original batman motion picture... anyways, an awesome peformance!!!

  • This guy's awesome. His role as Skeletor introduced me to him. Since then I've seen him in Dave, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and in Body of Evidence.

  • who else could possibly follow terrence stamp as General Zod.......but this guy, frank langella would make the perfect Zod!!!

  • ONE THE BEST PERFORMANCES YOU'LL EVER FUCKING SEE - Hear.

    Thankyou Frank.

  • He nailed Skeletor. He came off every bit as badass as Palpatine in ROTJ. Skeletor = most badass cartoon villain ever!

  • Words simply cannot give justice to the outstanding performance that Frank Langella gave in this movie.

  • Wow. I always thought he might say Draucla is his fav. role. With how He-Man movie was a failure at the box office, I thought maybe he would regret being in it & hate playing Skeletor. But very cool to see he like the role. The movie is cheesy bad, that it's fun!! :)

  • @hundredmanca

Yeah, I don't know who came up with that idea. What's "un-Langella like" about a contemplative and articulate villain? Langella had all the best lines in the movie, and delivered them magnificently.

  • @hundredmanca I definitely could tell that he is a stage actor. The line, "I'm not in a giving vain this day." Right out of shakespeare, I believe.

  • @PrsFenderJackson1980 Indeed, it's a line from Richard III.

  • I was a fan of this movie growing up. Yeah, it was more like Star Wars than He-Man, but whatever. A lot of my friends didn't like it, but there was one unanimous acknowledgement on their part - Frank Langella was badass as Skeletor.

  • Langella ruled in MOTU. He really fleshed the character out :D

  • He IS Skeletor; this whole "Frank Langella" thing is just an act. When he gets bored with it he'll reveal his true godlike form and all will kneel!

  • Same reason why Raul Julia took and loved the role of M. Bison, imagine if your son says, I'm a fan of my dad's movie.

  • Langella should of won the Oscar for his portrayal of Nixon. As far as Skeletor goes. I was a big fan of He-Man. They could have not picked a better actor than Frank Langella to play Skeletor. Beast Man and Trap Jaw were also my favorite He-Man villains.

  • He had fun in that role, so I can see why it was so good for him. Unfortunately, the movie was not so good for the rest of us.

  • If you truly enjoy acting, you play the roles you WANT to play, not the ones people think you SHOULD play. He was perfect as Skeletor.

  • The stupid reporter thought he was gonna bash the movie and she got owned.. Dumb bitch..

  • @dbreiden83080 haha, you are so right! good catch.

  • @dbreiden83080 yeah u can tell by the way she said "really?" lol

  • Langella was magnificent. Period.

  • Skeletor was one of the few characters that film got right, and one has to thank Langella for that since he obviously studied the character and took it very seriously putting the right spin of cartoon and real life into it.

  • @CombatSportFan I heard that after Frank got the part, he sat there with his son and watched He-Man to study the personality of Skeletor to see how he acts, thinks and controls everything

  • His Skeletor is almost my definitive screen villain. His performance is simply superb and elevates the film above and beyond what it could have ever hoped to be.

I think, too, a lot of credit has to go to the writers. Skeletor has some truly terrific musings in this movie, some of the best lines ever for a truly evil character.

I love every part of this movie, but most especially Langella's turn.

  • this guy playing Skeletor was the best thing about this moive

  • she wasn't playing down the role. When you look at his credentials, that's like a role that was like, WTF. Its not his typical roles. That's what she was implying. I figured, he did it for his son. And This proved my theory. But he was an awesome skeletor, he should get the skeletor role for the new he-man film that Sony is currently working on.

  • i so hope they use him if they make another movie.. He was awesome!!!!

  • That makes me soooo glad to hear him say that... I was always curious if he valued the role or looked down on it because it was a B film... it is definitely one of my all time favorite movies and his Skeletor is a truly great villain... superior to the TV series most certainly.

  • Regardless of what people's feelings of the movie "Masters of The Universe" itself, there's no denying Frank Langella pretty much owned that entire movie from start to finish.

  • langella makes the best villain in any movie.

  • Perfect role, in an underrated film. Usually, the villains end up being more awesome, just like in Flash Gordon.

  • Did that for his son, huh? Lol! What a cool dad!

  • @ArtisanAlchemist a lot of great actors take roles in cheesy movies for there kids' entertainment

  • Agreed. It's a shame that so many people aren't aware of what he did in this movie. It's a cheesy movie to be sure, but his creation of Skeletor is absolutely amazing. And he did this before it was "fashionable" for serious actors to do comic book movies. Before Nicholson or Ledger played the Joker or Spacey played Lex Luthor or Dafoe played Green Goblin.

  • I enjoyed a lot this movie at its time, it was the first time seeing a cartoon coming to live action and it was great :) And I still enjoy it now, definitely Skeletor was the best character (Great for Langella) but also Dolph did it great as He Man :)

  • One of the best role he has ever done , EVER. The scene where he becomes "Super Sketetor" and delivers the classic "I am A God" speech is just sublime!

  • Wow, I had no idea this guy played Skeletor.

  • Langella played his heart out for his son, and it showed.

  • Langella is legendary.

    "Kneel before your Master"

  • That stupid woman! Skeletor is a great role!

  • She's a journalist. She was just trying to a good response from him. It doesn't sound like she was putting the role down.

  • I know, what a dumb "reporter"

  • The best scenes in the Masters of the Universe movie belong to Langella's Skeletor.

  • although I like to include "Thank you my darling" from Meg Foster on my "pretty dang sweet" list

  • What makes Langella's Skeletor even more awesome (and sadly overlooked, but what do you expect when the rest of the movie is complete camp?), is that the director intentionally modeled the film's story after Jack Kirby's Fourth World stuff. Meaning that that version of Skeletor was essentially Darkseid. YEP. DARKSEID. How freaking awesome is THAT? Imagine the Sorceress as Highfather, Gwildor as Metron, He-Man as Orion, Evil-Lyn as Granny Goodness, the "Mercenaries" as the Female Furies...

  • in a kids movie, langella was completely credible. great perormance

  • I agree with Helspont2...the way he says the word "resist" is 100% Skeletor!!

  • He is the only reason to watch the movie.

  • @BCCButters711 Butternuts is that you?

  • @thespiswolf

No, I do not know of whom you speak.

  • He was so good as Skeletor! It's awesome that he really enjoyed that part.

  • imagine his son was 4 years old at the time when he play Skeletor role but overall that the kid was a motu fan ... Chilhood dream ...

  • Frank Langella saved Masters of the Universe movie. he is just talented actor and he made Skeletor look even more evil than cartoon.

  • To this day he doesn't get enough credit for how serious he took that role. Yes it was a cheezy film, but everytime he is on screen he steals the movie. Awesome actor and awesome job in that film.

  • @icebergslick I agree Langella was wonderful but this is not IMO a cheezy film I just think movies today are too cynical and mellowdramatic that people percieve films of the 80's as cheezy when they were really just open hearted and fun.

  • @CalgarSkull very very good point! I think we have forgotten to just accept a movie for what it is, which is something of entertainment. This film and Frank's performance were very entertaining. And i am not afraid to admit that I have this movie in my dvd collection! LOL!

  • @icebergslick Me too!! I would sometimes parrot Skeletor's lines to Langella's great acting of Skeletor!! LOL!!

  • @icebergslick Absolutely, you hit the nail right on the head. He does take the role very seriously but at the same time he looks as he was having a hell of a lot of fun with it. He was FANTASTIC as Skeletor.

  • His voice was so much better than the cartoon skeletor

  • He plays a evil guy to in the movie Cutthroat Island the bad and evil uncul Dawg off Morgan Adams

  • he also plays another evil person, richard nixon.

  • You can kinda hear Skeletor talking when Frank says he couldn't resist playing the role!!

  • Yes, compare to his "a curious quartet" line in Masters.

  • nobody could've bin better for the skeletor rola as frank langella..

  • This was my favorite Langella role! Thanks for playing Skeletor Frank!!! One of my fav on screen villains!

  • Langella's Skeletor is the most underrated villain of the entire decade.

  • If they remake He-man he'd BETTER be Skeletor. He made a cheesy movie fun to watch because he really took that cartoon character to another level.

  • he needs to be in more movies

  • That is awesome! This makes me respect him even more as an actor.

  • Damn right!

  • It's things like this that make me respect him as an actor

  • Mr. Langella, you are a great actor, but THIS is my fav role you have done as well! :)

  • Langella WAS Skeletor. The cartoon Skeletor was bad but kind of cheesy. He should have been considered for the role for the remake. A masterful performance considering the limitations of the script and special effects technology at that time. My favorite TV to film transition character so far. Made the character more than what it originally was.

  • OMG THANK YOU!!!!

I always want to hear him talk about Skeletor I HATE when people shoot down the movie and the role when it is a great peice of work by him and the movie is fun I loved it growing up

  • awesome!

  • And there I was thinking Langella was embarressed by it. He shouldn't be either, he was awesome.
