  • jeez the 17" look horrible

  • gas is going to $6+.gal :(

  • Am I the only one who thinks everything is in Slow Motion

  • Great review of an awful car...

  • i dont understand why some people hate this car so much? its not the most attractive car in the world but it has great mileage and has a good price for a hybrid

  • @dsan224

Because hairy-chested manly men insist on manly man cars.

  • A piano should have fallen on this ugly box on wheels at the end

  • Great review love it!

  • my nans got one....

  • Of all companys that could have made it like vw, opel, skoda, ford etc, why toyota? They always use such cheap materials!

  • Fuck this car & whole Toyota community

  • @UZBEKSOLDAT nice try german car fan...

  • honestly i wouldn't mind buying this car coz i don't have a thing against being green. It's just that the car just looks so bad. I mean, what is wrong with the look of a normal sedan? Looking at the Camry and Corolla, toyota makes such good looking cars, but this one just looks horrible.

  • @kl49 the reason it looks like this is because it will get more mpg. the prius is a hatchback and is more aerodynamic and gets about 50 mpg [us] and the camry hybrid gets about 45 mpg [us] and it is a sedan. if u want to get a non ugly good hybrid, get a camry hybrid.

  • In America, we only have a limited choice of diesel vehicle so the prius is one of the ideal choice if you want to save fuel

  • Messi won the same in Japan xD

  • Matt is probably the best reviewer in the business. I like his style and his honest comments unlike other British "reviewers" who go on an hybrid hating tirade. The Prius is one the most reliable cars made. those batteries easily last for the life of the vehicle. So yeah, well done!

  • Horrible car design and horrible car interior. Just make a good looking hybrid car and make decent interior materials and you have yourself a winner Toyota. No one buys Prius in my country because it's just an ugly, expensive car.

  • "5 year warranty being a toyota u probably wont ever needed"! :) matt knows his shit when it comes to automobiles...toyota is the most reliable brand in the world.

  • Is it only Mat or is it the British accent that I find him so cute when he talks

  • what the hell in the united states, the prius is advertised at 51 mpg, not 71 mpg!!!

  • @Karmakameleeon Thats because american gallons and Metric gallons here in the UK are different

  • @adamY2K oh ok that makes perfect sense. thanks!

  • @Karmakameleeon The US vs. UK gallons is one thing, but the main difference is the different test cycles. I'm not sure which one is better,, but the EU ratings are usually 10-20% higher.

  • Besides the usual complaints about the Prius, from this video, I can tell that the tinny sound of the doors closing puts me off, and the loosely fitted carpets look like very cheap build quality. Then there's the plasticy dashboard. I'd like a car that feels good, like an A3 Diesel

  • Why are people discriminating foot operated parking brakes these days. I've used one I think they're a good idea, better than the annoying old fashioned lever types in my opinion which take up space. And the electronic type doesn't exactly have the feel of the other two types when you engage it.

  • Prius snobs

  • Place this next to the Panamera and you'll start to appreciate the looks of the Porsche.

  • JUST LOOKING AT THIS CAR MAKES ME FEEL SICK

    im not kidding.....

  • @SuperchargedSean -Thats why u showe up on OptimusPrius Sites all the time, i gues ure in Lowe white the car and ure habite is ofcurse no diffrent than the Gay and Prius realated ppl that hate al off it,just one more noob that knowes that klonkers ending up at junkyards world ower and u hawe to face the devlopmeant.

  • @SuperchargedSean Fuck off you filthy american.

  • @SuperchargedSean Lol... You think you're too rich to have an ugly car :)

  • @SuperchargedSean so you mean you love the look of pontiac aztek.

  • @SuperchargedSean You're an idiot.. no wait, make that a sick idiot

  • @SuperchargedSean The back looks horrible, however the front is actually quite nice. You might want to get yourself checked.

  • @Flicker455 ... I totally agree, if Toyota can figure out how to design the back of the Prius I'll be glad to buy one.

  • @Flicker455 Why would he have to get himself checked? Ever heard of a Petrol-head? The Prius is a Petrol-head's nightmare. Ever worked on one? They are agonizingly, painfully aggressive to work with. What is 1.8L going to give you? 50BHP? Who HONESTLY wants that? And the Prius V doesn't get any better, its bigger, and probably STILL has the horrible 1.8L engine in it. I doubt you've seen the Forza Motorsport 4 Endangered Species trailer. It's my whole argument summed up by Jeremy Clarckson.

  • Is it PREE-US or PRY-US?

  • @mage1724 Whatever. You deside. It's ugly and completely useless.

  • @mage1724 I'm almost certain it's Pree-us as that's how a Japanese would pronounce it.

  • @mage1724

It is prius look at 00:45

  • I see people driving this down the motorway over 80mph. What's the purpose of buying one of those than?

  • i own one its a real chick magnet ;)

  • Am I the only one that wants to see Tom do a review naked?

  • If I had a pound, a dollar, or even a rupee for every diesel vs hybrid comparison... Would you stop doing that, please? It's pointless only to look at official MPG figures. You have to think about long term running costs and resell values. And about pollution (which is what most Prius buyers have in mind). A diesel is better if you do long journeys often, and a hybrid is better if you drive around town, and use the highway less often.

  • @carbuyer please make a review of the Hyundai Volester. cheers ;)

  • @MrMBMW93 us gallon is 3.7 liters while the British gallon is 4.5 liters hence the difference.

  • I respect Matt as a reviewer. He is the best

  • @MrMBMW93 That's because the Americans and the british have different opinions about what a gallon is, a US gallon for instance is 3.785411784 litres and the British imperial gallon is 4.54609 litres, hence the difference in MPG.

  • Been there, got rid of that. Gas mileage was awesome, but watching the display and trying to constantly watch my power usage was very distracting, and I never could just drive the car and enjoy the scenery since I was too worried about my mpgs. I have a VW now, and I feel much safer in it, and I have 170 horses helping me speed round corners and down the highway...so much more fun to drive!

  • @MrMBMW93 Right, 50/72 is not exactly the same as 3.78/4.55.

  • The Prius is a car for people who just don't care about cars and want to save gas. Or the people who just want to rub it in your face that they are helping the environment (so they think). This car is no fun to drive at all, and like mentioned in the video it has a horribly cheap interior.

  • @datboiwes333 I had one and gave it up for a VW Rabbit. I wanted to actually "go" when I hit the gas pedal, and the interior materials may be eco-friendly, but they were sooo cheap feeling and scratch at the touch of a fingernail...and the doors flex in and out when you roll the windows up and down.

  • The Golf TDI, Jetta TDI, Tiguan TDI and Passat TDI will always be better.

  • you're awesome

  • id rather walk than own this vomit bucket

  • I like the Prius. Waiting for the Plug-In version of it.

  • Prius does NOT save fuel, 1. Battery is mined from canada, brought through europe, middle east, processed in China, assembled in Japan and brought in a huge ship to America. It has a very small engine so it sounds horrible and actually consumes a lot of fuel.

  • @lhrmeonom If you drive it like a normal person and not like they did on Top Gear, it uses very little fuel. My dad has one and it only consumes 4.5L/100km city. That's 52mpg US city driving.

  • every review follows the same structure, covering all the important bits with no faffing around. top drawer, more of the same!

  • Want to be green? Ride a bike.

PS: Delicious interlacing. Someone made a boo-boo.

  • problem with these cars is you get to hear all of the rattles inside when it gets a bit older

  • 304 viewer :D

  • Omg are the rear doors made from tin?? @ 0:55

  • Prius is like you're doing workout but eat only chocolate, pancakes and junk food !

  • This guy keeps Buxton bottled water in business.

By the way, the Prius is awesome. Those who say otherwise have never driven one.

  • i wonder what happens if you get in a river with a prius

  • Booooo! Prius!

  • Very unpleasant car for an enthusiast, but most aren't so Toyota really doesn't care. They sell millions of them in the States, to those who think they're making a difference. I'm jealous you Brits/Europeans have so many diesel options of equal economy.

  • You're wearing True Religion Shoes!!!

  • best car reviewer, congratulations sir and thank you !

  • that guy does the greatest reviews on the web!

  • Thumbs up if you want more reviews!

  • oh please don't advetise toyota prius, everybody knows it's a car for teachers and old people

golf diesel for instance is waaay better in all aspects

  • @TheEPITROCHOID not to mention BMW 318d for the SAME PRICE!

  • @TheEPITROCHOID SO!? Some people waching this r teachers and old people.

Golf's just an overpriced Skoda Octavia or Seat Leon or watever. People, especially in Europe should stop being badge snobs and start appreciating excellent but undervalued such as Toyota, Skoda, etc.

  • @rockingandcountry are you a teacher that wants to save planet?

what you are saying is right, exept one little bit, golf is a lot more fun to drive

  • @TheEPITROCHOID someday you will also be old.

  • @TheEPITROCHOID Teachers? oh yeah... this car is for people who are very much confident about themselves and has got nothing small to compensate for by getting a bigger or more masculine car. Cheers!

  • @truknayr23 you seem like you own one

  • @TheEPITROCHOID nah...my wife owns one.... i drive a Volvo... now that is a proper teachers-car. ^^

  • @truknayr23 aahahhaha heeelllooo volvo driver ^^

  • @TheEPITROCHOID Hehehehe...yeah yeah... make fun of the Volvo... cheers mate! ^^

  • @TheEPITROCHOID golf diesel? which golf diesel? golf is the most boring car on planet!! golf isn't more reliable the the prius, golf doesn't have more space than the prius, golf isn't more comfortable than the prius!

  • @felozai What planet are u from u wanker?

  • @TheEPITROCHOID I'm glad to be a teacher with a diesel Golf then!

  • @TheEPITROCHOID but the thing is not everyone wants a VW Golf. i agree golf is better n hell i'd turn it into a track car, but not everyone is into that stuff.

hell i'm into the A4, A5/S5 n CTS-V Coupes, but thats based on my preferences, not my neighbors.

N though i'm not into hybrids, this isnt so bad, hell its better than some fully gas cars anyways. n Toyota lasts forever, mines been going strong for nearly 12 years now, 180K+ miles n still going strong.

  • @TheEPITROCHOID you mean to say Prius is for smart and educated people. thanks very much.

  • @henrybrar that's why these people are very boring and that's why they drive boring cars

  • @TheEPITROCHOID its just because of these people that there are cars in the world, coz a uneducated fool can't produce shit.

  • @henrybrar do you own one?

  • @TheEPITROCHOID no sir i don't. i drive a 11 Accord Coupe V6 6-speed.

  • @henrybrar so than due to your theory you are "an uneducated fool who can't produce shit" (c)

  • @TheEPITROCHOID no, i said people like you who say Prius is a car old people are fools and so you are. so shut the fuck up and drive your corolla to Mc Donalds and make some sandwiches.

  • @henrybrar actually I drive mercedes C 63 AMG and I am a traider. What do you do?

  • GAG ME...the prius is just awful

  • 0:52 the sound of that door is quite nasty

  • and btw green is for retards, need proof look up this al gore fool!

  • what video editing schools has this dude finished? DE-INTERLACE BEFORE YOU UPLOAD!

  • Ugh, I hate cars with foot-operated hand-brake.

  • I assume the Prius V will be reviewed aswell?

  • thumbs down, i thought you were a serious person and reject the co2 dictatorship that is also based on a fake idea

fuck the prius and fuck the people who believe this shit

  • @mHalfLife cool story bro

  • @Aaronage1 thanks

    youre one of them?

  • Comment removed

  • No! Not the Prius! Why?!

  • This video has a horrible interlacing distortion. Others from you don't...

  • ugly ass

  • @lyaacoubicham its actually a really good looking car.

  • Judging by muted colors, lack of resolution and blown out highlights of your recent videos, I initially thought that you had switched to a 7D or 5D. Now I see that I was wrong, you actually switched to a cheap consumer grade camcorder that cannot do progressive. This particular video has been clearly shot in interlaced mode and has not been deinterlaced correctly. Why would you shoot a web video in interlaced mode anyway?

  • @LeadHammer How do you tell it's not been deinterlaced properly?

  • @sheps999 view the video in full size and you will see horizontal stripes throughout.

  • @ArtemiyPavlov Oh yeah. Yuck.

  • I am just waiting for the Chevy Volt / Vauxhall Ampera to come on sale next year and compete with Prius. See which is best :P

  • @amurogundam The Volt is like a diesel locomotive only with a battery in between of the petrol engine and electric motor. It is an unsophisticated and dumb approach. When it runs on battery it moves around about 150 kg of useless steel, I mean the petrol engine. When in runs on petrol, it converts kinetic energy of the engine into electricity first, losing a lot of it in the process. The Prius, on the other hand, makes a perfect sense during the current transitional period to electric cars.

  • @ThereIsMike I see your point. I guess that's is the downside. I guess these two cars are a different approaches, the volt is kinda a further approach to the motor future while prius is sticking to the present but another way round the Prius has an extra weight of the electric motor and battery which adds weight to the vehicle lowering the milage. Still i would like to see more options in the market. As at this point, the motor industry is still experimenting the new way of motoring.

  • @amurogundam The Prius has just enough added weight to make regenerative braking possible and to assist during acceleration, and has better mileage than a conventional car. On the other hand, the Volt is not a further approach, it is a simplistic side step. The further approach from the Prius and alike would be a purely electric car, either battery-operated, or fuel-cell operated. Or maybe it would be an internal combustion car, burning synthetic fuel generated from CO2 by solar stations.

  • @ThereIsMike the volt is a purely electric car. the engine never powers the wheels. it's only a backup to recharge the battery when the battery is almost done. they are saying you can drive upto 50 miles on just electric power. which is more than most people's daily commute. so if you charge your car everyday, u might not have to use a drop of gas.

  • @coolkingsofa The Volt is not purely electric, it carries a large and heavy petrol engine with it. This engine can be either an extra and useless weight, robbing valuable space and decreasing economy. Or, it serves as a generator that charges the battery instead of driving the wheels like on the Prius. The indirect cycle of the Volt (engine->generator->battery->motor->wheels) is less efficient that the system used on the Prius.

  • @ThereIsMike yes there is an engine which does add weight , and decrease space and economy. but it's a small engine, just a 1.4. If u want a no gas engine car, u can buy a nissan leaf. but after the battery is discharged, ur stuck or if u make it to a recharging station , u have to wait atleast half an hour to charge it. that's where the volt has it's advantage, even if u finish the battery. the engine will recharge the battery, so ur not marooned on the side of the road.

  • but the point is that if u drive less than the range limit, the chevrolet volt will not consume any gas and has the advantage that it can be ur only car instead of a second car like nissan leaf would have to be used, if u wanted flexibility to go on road trips or forget to charge ur car at night

  • @coolkingsofa If you drive less than the range limit then get the Leaf, it goes for up to 100 miles instead of 40 miles of the Volt. Yes, you will need another car for long trips, but not everyone lives in Texas or Arizona. For a city dweller, renting a car for longer trips may have more sense. Still if you want just one car, the Prius is the better choice because it uses all components of its powertrain all the time, as such there is less dead weight and better utilization.

  • Great review. I see why so many Celeb's buy these.

  • i hate a hybrid:)

    love ur reveiws
