  • wish this whole show was on DVD .....somewhere !!

  • @nachowill95 Singles going steady and chronology :D

  • @kinksboss the answer is quite simple.... you have to pay for the honour.. (see John Lydon of the Sex Pistols) same as the walk of fame, you wanna fork over some dough you can get your name there..........

  • MMmmmm Diggle with such dark, lovely eyes

  • @sham64andahalf. It was performed in Berlin a year or two after the wall came down. I used to have this on VHS tape.

  • I was a DJ in Allentown, PA. with nuttin but punk on my show. Now u gots ur Pistols, Clash (hated them), Sham 69, Vibrators...and hundreds of others but lots of obscure bands like Agnastic Front, Rezillos, Crass, DagNasty, Germs, UKSubs, Mekons, PIL, Undertones......but as for the Buzzcocks, they were in a different class. Great melodies, lyrics, riffs, humor, teenage angst and great simplicity in there approach to get there message across yet great talent in all positions. IN THE HALL!!!!!!

  • @ballsofun Yes. None of the original punks really liked the Clash as we remembered their previous pub-rock incarnation, the 101ers - who were dreadful. And Joe went to boarding school which hardly struck a chord with us 16 year olds at the time! The Buzzcocks were working class, loud, and bloody good fun! Although the Clash and the Pistols are remembered as original punks, we knew they weren't as 'real' as the Buzzcocks, or the also excellent Damned for that matter

  • @theageofreasonable Don't forget Cocksparrer or the Undertones

  • PISS OFF!!!!

  • Hello

    Blast from the past...yes

But the buzzcocks formed in 1975 and disbandes in 1982 : after they reformed but just for business.

This track is on the first album "Another Music in a Different Kitchen" from 1978 with :

Fast Cars - Sixteen -I Don't Mind - Fiction Romance - Autonomy - Moving Away from the Pulsebeat - Orgasm Addict - What Do I Get

all classics songs ....You have a terrible good taste ;-)

I do not have a video recorder anymore to verify sorry

  • great --as a fan from the first time i heard the first (ua-single)orgasm addict in 77 .but they were formed may 1976 and disbanded 1981..

and really i don´t know if this reunion-gig came up to really buzzcocks-class..

  • Love, love this band. Was fortunate to see them live a few months ago. Brilliant!

  • in 1989 at Manchester : I have the VHS.

    it 's the second song.

  • @coeurley Bon nuit!! The VHS? thats a blast from the past!! Didnt Steve Diggle's guitar string break and hit him in that one??? or maybe i'd done too many substances....lol

  • One of the bands I woefully regret never seeing live back in the day.

  • I like it! Great song!!!

  • sounds like Iron Maiden copied the opening drums for this on Run to the Hills.

  • @jherikurl o yea..can see that....!!! though the drums if i rememeber are slightly faster on the studio release rather then this live version!

  • who fucking cares if they are in RR hall of fame or they dont. I really dont

  • I want you...A U T O N O M Y!

    F-ing rocks!

  • I met my ex-husband to the background of this track and still love it amazingly!

  • my fave buzzcocks song

  • It was tunes like this that made the week easier knowing when you were paid you could go and buy them.Classic then and now.

  • Quality lasts forever. Great.

  • that guitar is something else

  • regarding inspiration: Groundhogs, ex Hogwash LP, "I love you Miss-O-Gyny" ...

  • Last time I saw them Joe Strummer just died and they dedicated this song to him.

  • this is so great.

  • Diggle's a dude - really sounds like Paul Weller - but much better.

  • can somebody explain why the Buzzcocks, the Jam, Roxy Music, Squeeze and ELO arent in the RR Hall of Fame? Oh yeah, Madonna and Run DMC were more influential in their rock music...

  • Because the music industry is run by shit heads.

Madonna and Run DMC deserve to be in the RR HOF as much as Brian Austin Green 'deserves' to fuck Megan Foxx. It's just another sign from Satan that we are all in a shitty shitty world.

  • @joelholtzman Couldn't have put it better myself. Thanks man.

  • How about Joy Division?...I understand your confusion..........

  • Illuminati=ET kin aka gods, Ea, Sirians, Satan, Pepsi, angels/demons, dragons, hulu, vampires, bluebloods, Al Gore, Windsors, Rothschilds, Rockefellars etc who rule cults like Freemasonry. Their agenda: continually cull/victimize people via vaccines/other poisons like gum, Codex Alimentarius, carbon taxes, internet 2, WW3 then stage an alien invasion to get a fascist world government/religion with us chipped. Support DrDeagle, Stewart Swerdlow, gardeners and free-energy techs!

  • @kinksboss1 That IS pretty bizarre, isn't it? lol ...And I love Madonna.

    But they aren't rocknrollers. lol

  • @GutterDoll138

    More so than madonna.

  • @seanytwonk You misunderstood me. I meant Madonna isn't Rock N Roll. :)

  • @GutterDoll138

Sorry, I didn't realise you were being sarcastic about madonna.

Which is slightly embarrassing as my middle name is 'sarcastic'!

  • @seanytwonk lol It's alllll good. :)

  • @kinksboss1 personally i don't get the RR Hall of Fame. I can see why it exists in sports because statistics are something tangible, but what could they base that on with RR? Hits i guess? That being said there's groups in the HOF without many hits. I just don't get it man

  • @kinksboss1 Magazine me love

  • @kinksboss1 Well, they are in *our* R&R Hall Of Fame is what counts, innit?

  • @kinksboss1 that is messed up!!!

  • @kinksboss1

Perhaps they did the same as The Sex Pistols and told them where they could stick their poxy hall of fame !

  • Diggle is the nuts. What a tune. Only The Damned can compare with this

  • @carrmcfc63 The Damned is one of my favorites! Good call! :)

  • Maybe I was a little harsh.Love the guitar riff.

  • Begining part reminds me of Run To The Hills!

  • we had the same impression! XD

  • first time i've seen diggle using a ricky - nice sound too!

  • Yeah, that's true. They always used Gibson Juniors if I recall right; Garvey used a fender P bass or a Musicman Stingray.

  • Steve loves performing he was in top form last night here in Lyon - saved Harmony as the last track

  • I love how it starts off sounding like "Run to the Hills" and then the guitar riff sounds almost like "Enter Sandman"...lol I bet they used this song for "inspiration".

  • lmao never noticed tht, but seriously dude, keep off the drugs....

  • sounds more like he was trying to be Roland Gift. But Diggle was never the singer (apart from HimH) so perhaps he's been frustrated at not being able to show his vocal range all these years. Or else he's just 'aving a laff. Whatever, it's good, it's good!

  • I guess Harmony in My Head was 'his' only hit, but nog the only song he sung lead vocals to right? There's Running Free, for example?

  • wot was up w/ how he started singing like Peter Frampton toward the end? But hey, I'll take it; great song!

  • My favourite Buzzcocks tune. So awesome

  • I'm goin to see them 2night!!!!

  • The Offspring's cover of this song rocks. Look it up, it's on Youtube.

  • Offspring? You must be dizzy from your fruit rollups! This is the BUZZCOCKS!!!!

  • he said The Offspring's cover of this Buzzcocks song.

  • Hearing this, puts me right up for The Manchester gig on Jan 16th,old skool is still the best.

  • good old school punk

  • ***** stars. Thanks for saving me the bother of uploading this DVD! URASTAR

  • that's what i want...autonomy....great recording. thanks.

  • Great track

  • Wow that doesnt sound a thing like run to the hills drumming?

  • i love run to hills but i was disappointed to discover that iron maiden pretty much copied the drum part from this song.

  • Doesn't mean they copied it. Lots of melodies/drum beats are similar to each other, liston to More Than A Feeling's pre-chorus riff and then listen to Smells Like Teen Spirit, just for an example. I'm a fan of both bands, and this song rocks :-)

  • the intro is basicly stolen but slightly modified

  • oh yea oh yea

i sow them twice in athens greece and the punk

  • Lovely vintage guitars.

  • Brilliant. I saw them in Coventry on this tour.

  • i love these fucjers yeh

  • *coughruntothehillscough*

  • get outta here!

it's all a bit hazy but i'm fairly sure 1978 happened before 1982

  • Yes I know this came first.

  • lol and the open hi hat =)

  • hmm, guess that makes diggles "version" the first, eh? up the irons, but buzzcocks rule ok

  • Maybe not as edgy as before but, they still have it!

  • No need to be edgy when you can write a perfect rock song like this.

  • Spoken like someone born after 1980.

  • "They still have it"? This song was on their first LP

  • Sounds better with Diggle on vocals. Top guitarist as well. Used to love Garth.

  • first of all clive burrs drum intro on rtth hits the floor tom and drum tom at the same time during each break

  • Nottingham Rock City, about 1991.

  • Yes brilliant, one of my alltime faves!

  • Iron Maiden couldn't win at dominoes...let alone play their axes.

  • Well, obviously, since Iron Maiden released 14 brilliant albums and are now regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time and the Buzzcocks are only widely known for one song...Hey, wait!

  • that is indeed your opinion. Any movie, music, play etc. critic is a bullshit job. everyone has their own opinion...

  • Ha ha too right. Iron Maiden etc are comedy bands.

  • ar these all the original band members?

  • original line up: howard devoto (vocals), pete shelley (guitar), steve diggle (bass), john maher (drums).

line from 1978 to the time of this gig (nov/dec '90), shelley (vocals lead guitar ), diggle (vocals rhythm guitar), steve "paddy" garvey (bass), maher (drums).

shelley & diggle are the only members still with the band today.

  • They Rule dudes =P

    They're GREAT =D

  • One of the first guitar riffs I learned...great to see it again.

  • I don't care about Offspring covering it. I like this!

  • The offspring covered it !!! This song rules so !! Buzzcocks is one of best puk band ever !

  • Oh god... what the fuck I never knew about an Offspring cover. That's lame.

  • This is really not famous ! You can't even find it on youtube. You know, when offspring cover a song, this is exactly the same but a bit faster ! with dexter's voice^^

  • I loved this band 20-or-so years ago! Great live show in Tijuana 1991.

Not to be a jerk, but I don't think this stands the test of time. Not the way that say, the music of NMA, The Damned, Stiff Little Fingers, does.

I'm a little disappointed at this listen. Sorry.

  • I saw them at the 1979 Loch Lomond festival, along with the Stranglers, UK Subs and many others. Been to many gigs and festivals since but little has come close. Great days.

  • That intro is so great......

  • I adored this song all those years ago.

  • Same here, classic b side to I don't mind.

  • Almost got a kickin over in germany, cos i was singin this, fuckin neo-nazi's thought i was english. The cheek of some people . . .lol

  • excelente el coro

  • Who wrote "best intro ever"? So true.

  • Buzzcocks were the best. Amazing....

  • Isnt this the original line up (after Devoto)

  • Except for the Bassist, yes. Original Bassist was Garth - Bassist in this is Steve Garvey.

  • Actually the first bassist was diggle. He switched to guitar after devoto left.

  • Doh! Yes of course it was Diggle. I stand corrected. Cheers mate!

  • @rwigram thank God he did. What a guitarist he is!!

  • @rwigram What did Garth play then?

  • best intro ever

  • love this song, beauty of it is that i only started listening to them because they're a fave band of a fave band of mine (and i only know that because they covered another buzzcocks song, i dont stalk the members lol)

    fantastic band

  • i like :) yeah!!!

    buzzcocks

  • Ahh, memories. I always used to sing " I want you on top of me" to Paddy Garvey!

  • love this song !!! covered by the offspring !

  • la guitarra en el estribillo suena dark... perfecto!

  • I'm guessing that this must be from just after they reformed in 1987 to show all those 'indie' plagiarists what real music was.

  • diggle and shelley never sing together alive

  • Do they sing together dead then?

  • i meant live heheheheh

  • HAHAHA this comment literally made me laugh out loud. Oh and, cool video, too.

  • @sham64andahalf lulz

  • fucking ace

  • fucking great song and performance. thanks for the vid! one of the best punk bands ever bar none

  • yep! I want you our tommy ! that will obviously be one of petes lyrics!!

  • After all those years...

    still a f***g great song!

I still have the analog record ;-)

    Greetz

  • I friggin' love this song

is there and "Orgasm Addict" video?

    lol

  • this is still incredible stuff

  • Incredible lyrical games going here. I want NEW AUTONOMY, or is it, I want YOU ON TOP OF ME? Pete Shelly is a funny man.

  • heh, I always thought it was "I want you, autonomy!" :)

  • it is innit?

  • Yes!

  • Thought so.

  • Offspring cover it ^^ really good !!! buzzcocks are best !

  • it's a crime that these guys didn't get huge in the states.

  • first saw this gig on itv in early 1990...forgot how many hunderds of times i've watched it since then!!!!!fell in love with buzzcocks then...best band ever!!! NOISE ANNOYS

  • Sing it Steve!

  • Some Very Very Ugly People DONT Like the Buzzcocks.....Lets Hear it for Us Beutiful People!!!Thanks sham

  • Huh? ToutMask....pretty ridiculous reason to not like a band.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Bristow!

My favourite Buzzcocks track; although I agree that I prefer Diggle's voice.

    Thanks for posting, sir.

  • My fave by them!

  • thank goodness 4 british music !!

  • I think I prefer Diggle's voice

  • buzzcocks are wonderful... !!

  • great to see, and just as good if not better when in melbourne last year

  • i love this band and i love 99 both great bands

  • Steve Diggle !!!!

His writing and singing style is so different from Pete Shelley's, but they both support each others' songs really well.

This is a really nice live version of the song.

  • hey ive found all the old stuff on here we used used to play as a cover band in the 70.. brilliant this was a fave..funny how you forget them all

  • I saw them last year in the smallest club...bloody amazing.

  • Didn't know they were still around. Saw them in 1981. Fantastic show.

  • 2007, Buenos Aires, Argentina... They now play this TWICE as Fast and with more URGENCY! Wow!

  • Must have been around 1990, that's when they reformed with (briefly) John Maher on drums, I think. Their clothes are a bit Ravey Davey, aren't they? The Height of Madchester fashion!

  • Forgot how brilliant this was.

  • i have this dvd, classic Buzzcocks

  • exellent!!

  • This is great!
