68gstandard, you are right. It does not have the Gregorian modes formulated in it. It is obviously not Gregorian Chant because it is not constructed with the free flowing neums. It sounds like a responsorial psalm in the venicular Italian. I apologize for my mistake. I should know better because I love Gregorian Chant. Feel free to talk with me anytime about chant.
the essence of religion is faith in God, who IS love, and who created man to be in union with Him.
Religion, especially Holy Mother Church, discourages evil in favor of righteousness. She is suited for ALL people, educated and uneducated.
She doesn't fit into YOUR progressive 21st century, but she fits into other's lives who are unbound by the modernist secular world in which we all happen to live.
Q; Does the Red Shift of Cosmic Light , prove the Earth is at the center of the Universe ?
A; Yes , if Motion started on Earth then the Earth would be at the center of the Universe .
It is possible Human Beings created particles that traveled back in space-time to start motion in a motionless gravity vacuum field even 60 Billion Years ago.
Q: Would that mean Human Beings are baby gods ?
A: Yes, Human Beings are baby gods and most likely create baby universes.
You're assuming that equality is somehow related to women being priests, which is inadequate logic. Why don't you learn something about the Church that built Western Civilization and possibly raise your level of self-awareness?
This is not Gregorian chant. This is a psalm responsory being sung during a Mass. It sounds somewhat like Gregorian chant because it has a formula melody, something like the traditional Gregorian psalm tones, but it is not Gregorian chant. Thanks for the posting anyway.
Absolutely true. I know this melody because I often say the Psalm in my local community in the Mass. But everybody will agree that's a beautiful melody.
Well 68sqstandard it sounds like Gregorian chant to me let me explain why. For one it's choral and it sounds like their are no distinguished harmony notes. I think this is Gregorian chant for one it's in Latin, sectional. Listen to the glorification of the Trinity in Latin again a Gregorian element. I've never heard that in a responsorial psalm. Praise be Jesus Christ! Long live Holy mother Church.
its not quite gregorian, gregorian usually has a slower pace rythem the meter of it is slower and it just kind of flows that is italian not latin though its hard to tell.
Italian is a romantic language infact the closest to latin then problably the other four, but this has a modern rythem to it so I could not be gregorian chant.
Roman is right its is a psalm not gregorian chant. gregorian chant is more free verse and it undulates the pitch more and is very drawn out usualy this is very rythemed and metered.
As others already wrote, it's not gregorian chant.
They're simply singing the Vesper prayer (in italian.. not in latin..)

Cajun,
It's chant, but not Gregorian.
I direct a Gregorian chant schola,
and have sung it for many years.
They are singing some kind of a formula
but it is not one of the 8 Gregorian
psalm tones.

Could it be Ambrosian Chant?
rpgabc123 3 years ago
No it can't..
1. You have Ambrosian Rite and Liturgy, but you don't have a proper "ambosian chant".. The Ambrosian Rite is always accompained by Gregorian chant..
2. Ambrosian Rite is an absolute exclusive of the Archdiocese of Milan.. and this video was recorded in Florence, as the title says.

the essence of mankind is the ability to think and to question.
The essence of religion is a faith in a doctrine; it discourages inquiry in favor of
obedience.
Religions are better suited to the closed mind, to the non scientific , non technological or uneducated minded.
Religions don't fit with a progressive 21st century.

Women wouldn't keep the secret of confession.
:) They still can be doctors of the Church.
