  • The navy need new toys and the industries need new project. So they justify using chainsaw to slice a pickle.

  • Can dive to 787 feet. Is that all? The Titanic lays at 13,000 feet. The deepest depth is 36,000 feet.

  • @JetMechMA they said meters not feet. id guess its about 2500 feet down maybe more.

  • Size is not an advantage for a submarine. It is a disadvantage. The larger you are, the easier it is for you to be detected for example by sonar. So boasting about the size of the submarine is.. not very smart.

  • Certainly there is a need for this sub class as part of the Triad defense. Given that most countries (friend and foe) still have most of the thermonuclear assets they had in the cold war. But putting it near the coast of an enemy (ie. concealed) is taking a giant risk as it could be detected (even accidentally). There are other equally good detection abilities that the US military has.

  • Now they call terrorists to the abused and bullied people that try to deffend themselves from the terrorist and talmudist jewish state.

  • looks like my penis... only smaller.

  • I hope Australia buys this instead of building their own. 8-12 of them would be ideal.

  • Another USA propaganda documentary made to make them look the best..

Please, the Uboats were the most advanced subs in the 1910's to 1940's to now..

(not that it's the best either, but come on..)

What? It can fire missiles with high precision and spy on enemies near the coast?

A Russian Typhoon class can destroy a country with 2 missiles.. And it has like 6-8.

  • Another Weapon to kill people.

USA must have a war from time to time,

because its part of their economy.

    shame

  • It would be a shame to waste this elegant platforms weapons against a dictatorship, third world & fourth class country(NOT nation) like IRAN, as well as waste of the USA's hard earned taxpayers money. Hopefully, they will repent their evil ways & start behaving like a civilized country (right. when cows fly).

  • Holy shit!

    What a priece of crap.Please...

  • why isn't the narrator American??

  • @1983MustangGLX They re-narrate it for the UK. Or maybe it just sounds cooler, and sophisticated!

  • at 06:03 George bush said:we've adquired our new enemies YEEEEHAAW! now i found an excuse to develop more nuclear submarines...

  • let me put it straight that was good dont need all this techincal crap it was good end of

  • haha i love it when people wite big ass messages and make em sound so technacal to make them selves sound so smart and know all about the sub, ITS JUST A YOUTUBE CLIP!!!!

  • @AkBoy1000 and they spell them correctly too TROLL lol >.< technacal wtf is that hehe

  • Stealthy sub? Nope, Chuck Testa!

  • its funny that even 150yrs after the industrial revolution we are still using steam powered ships. and dont go telling me that its nuclear powered cuz its not. the nuclear reactor boils the water which makes steam which turns the blades.

  • @howardkevinm *facepalm*

  • I worked on this sub a few time during the last year of my enlistment, 2006, while I was on shore duty acting as the Squadron II NSSC towed array coordinator. Amazingly advanced submarine. Most of my time in I was a Sonar Technician (STS2 SS) on the USS Miami.

  • ...and all Al Qaeda needed was a commercial jet airliner...

  • ssn 777 what

  • The video didn't exactly explain how this submarine is different to previous modern submarines. Torpedoes, missiles, silent shallow creeping... this has all been around for decades.

  • good stuff. I know a few people on the Virginia. I spent 5 years on the USS Louisiana.

  • @TheARMAProductions yes but the first military submarine was the turtle, but in many ways the uss holland was the submarine that started the diesel submarine race, while the uss nautilus started the nuclear sub race, the first submarines including the drebble were manpowered and very unpartical, but the drebble is considered the first submarine

  • @TheARMAProductions was it built no, the turtle is considered the first submarine, the hunley was the first sub to sink an enemy ship, and englands first submarine was hms holland which was copied from the uss holland

  • would love to see the Zumwalt class destroyers once they hit the seas they will be some of the most advanced ships to roam the seas

  • This sub has one weakness; Chuck Norris is clinging to the keel at this very moment.

  • Scary shit. Love it.

  • wow, they really use/talk about the SI system. but how many americans know what a kg and a meter is?

however, america just got less dumb in my eyes (no offence, but it got time)

  • U.S should build more subs like this and mothball most of the Trident-carrying Ohio-class

  • @luridplanet most of those those Ohio Classa subs are now SSGN's and carry 150 Tomahawk cruise missles :)

  • sea monster...man calls it with missiles, Wow God is on point this is the dragon in the sea Isa 27:1 "In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea."ppl why wait at the last min, this is no Joke. There'll be great Judgement & Wrath to Come by God. There is room at the cross Jesus wants to dwell inside you heart, just confess your sins & trust believe

  • an american and a russian general are meeting up on their submarines on the surface. the u.s. general: "our new submarine is able to stay about 5 months under the surface", the russian general: "our submarine is able to stay about a year under the surface"... while talking, there's coming a third submarine to the surface: "heil hitler! where's the next fuel station?"

  • @gamersmike And the Irish General says "Cork! And how do ye like our submarine idea by the way?"

  • @JohnBullocks Coming from a brit, is that? Where the Sun Never Sets over the Empire you would never have given up if you hadn't had to absolutely by economic necessity?

FUCK OFF WITH YOUR HYPOCRISY and SUCK MY COCK!

  • @newmanfrigan i dont think England can still be called the empire thats always in the sun

  • the ferrari of submarines?? doesnt look very fast to me

  • @TheProtocolsofzion Moron. Everyone knowes that that book is fake propaganda shit. Just educate yourself.

  • /watch?v=v1UPG7XwhWw watch and cry american fanboys :)

  • nice

  • Hahaha, these americans are allways boasting about their weapons without realizing that they are lackey and war slaves of the zionist new world order. What they don't say is that some years ago in wisconsing a UFO shoot down a 117 airplane in an air show in front of the astonished eyes of a bunch of people. hahaha...

  • @barbarotico Americans are dumb and UFO's took over. hahahaha

  • I like the Virginia class, but if I had to go to war in a sub, it would be in a SeaWolf, 50 trops vs 26....among other things.

  • One minute's worth of information spread into ten. What a waste.

  • *national geographic* used to mean

    high style and d e c o r u m

    this is just *mean style*

    all out WAR on...

    .

    the viewer!

  • Somalia? Err. they don't have crap there.

  • this national geographic stuff ist allways the same... anything on Nr1 in this Top 10 are American. Tanks , Subs , Guns ... if they would start a Top 10 of Car Brands they would top Ford and GM on Top and some fine Mercedes on the last 5 without becoming red ...

  • stupid documentary : at 1m20 sec

this is the most complex submarine ever built : Wrong !

seawolf class was largely higher in technology

  • Comment removed

  • Great documentary, however it should have been narrated by an American..

  • @antidiz why?

  • Comment removed

  • @beamla Because it is an American made sub , not a British one. Ex: We do not normally refer to length in in kilometers / meters etc, we use miles or feet in most cases. It would just be better narrated in our lingo.

  • @antidiz That's not your lingo you ignorant retard. The imperial system is BRITISH and the one WE use. Piece of shit.

  • @antidiz

Haha an English accident just sounds more educated.

  • @dycarbon1

hahahaha accident- you mean accent... moron!

  • @ekstc

Can't blame me, was using a mobile device.

  • @dycarbon1 It's actually an Australian accent...

  • @dycarbon1 у пиндосов лодки говно

  • It all starts with a idea . Ever hear that term loose lips sink ships. lets not give away to many ideas. just enough info to use as deterrence. I think that may be the biggest benfeit of subs. letting our ennmies know that just off their coast is a sub that could tear them up helps keep peace.

  • @MILLMANTV1 Both the Astute and the Virginia class are impressive submarines. However, the most capable submarine in the world is the Seawolf class submarine. Now that is a really impressive submarine. 8 Torpedo tubes, a little over twice the test depth of either the Astute or the Virginia, a bit faster and a bit quieter than either the Virginia or Astute classes. It's a shame the US only decided to build 3...truly a beautiful machine.

  • @jrm21386

    I agree.

Too bad Seawolfs are so expensive...not like a VA is cheap either lol :(

  • @leinadthem It really came down to ease of modifying. Navy is trying to make it so that boats don't take decades to get retrofitted and require a large amount of hull cutting and rewelding. Virginia is a bit cheaper less capable but easier to work on than the Seawolf.

  • @jrm21386 Don't be ridiculous. The Astute is far superior to the Seawolf class. In stealth and operational capability. We invented submarines and developed the nuclear technology for them. America's attempt to censor export of our OWN research back to the UK wasn't too successful.

  • @stig781 How arrogant and full of BS can you be? Please take off your Union Jack sunglasses and do a little research before you spew noxious BS like that. We invented "blah blah blah" so, we must obviously have the best "blah blah blah"...please... So, by your logic the Chinese invented the first rockets, so they must have the best rockets in the world, right? WRONG. The UK most certainly did not "invent" the nuclear technology on board submarines. Look up the USS Nautilus for starters.

  • Also, show me one aspect of the Astute class that is superior to Seawolf Class.

  • @stig781 How arrogant and full of BS can you be? Please take off your Union Jack sunglasses and do a little research before you spew noxious BS like that. • @jrm21386 The Brits did invent Radar in fairness. Up til then Donitz and the boys were annihilating allies in the water. And it was German scientists who came up with Nuclear technology and rocketry, remember that. And the Soviets beat *everybody* into space and to the moon .....

  • @Nautilus1972 You must have received your education from tabloid news papers. Please, for your own sake, pick up and read a history book.

  • @Nautilus1972 technically the brits were just the first to use radar in a military conflict, and rocket tech came from the us, namely robert goddard, and the first nuclear chain reaction took place at the university of chicago, and the us is the only country to put a man on the moon

  • @packr72 i think u will find the brits invented radar not just used it, and rocketry and nuclear fission were german inventions, with the help of austrians, using the discoveries made by the brits.

  • @TheEternalUniverse no single scientist or country developed radar, and robert goddard built the first liquid fuel rocket, yes german scientist discovered nuclear fisson, but the first nuclear chain reaction took place in the us and the us was the first to develop nuclear weapons, and submarines

  • @stig781 Actually it was an Irishman who invented the submarine. John Philip Holland, from Co Clare.

  • @Nautilus1972 no the first sub was the turtle, and the first submarine to sink an enemy ship was the css hunley and namely the uss holland was copied by the britsih royal navy

  • @MILLMANTV1 Most of the Virginia class's capabilities are classified. So, really you will never know if your above statement is correct. One thing to consider though, is the fact that there will be 30 Virginia class subs and only 7 Astute. Not like it matters though, as the US and UK will always be on the winning side/same side in any conflict.

  • but....the angola submarines are the best

  • Pode até ser potente, Mas ainda penso que os da Rússia são melhores!

  • I wish i had a submarine...

  • Good submarine im sure, but what a shit program.!

  • During my vacation on the eastern coast I had the privlige to watch the Virginia pull into dock.

  • When were you vacationing here?

  • New London

  • America's arch-enemy has not disappeared at all. It has moved inside the United States with the soviet jewish mafia, (the so-called "russian" mafia) who came under the false flag propaganda of helping the "suppressed soviet jews" in the 1970's, when they massively immigrated from the looted and corroded soviet union, starting to bring down the US from within.

  • ID EEE IT

  • and you guys think they will give military secrets and real info abt the submarines on youtube?????come on....

  • WTF? Is the aspect ratio messed up again? What is wrong with you people? Don't you notice or do you just don't give a fuck?

  • "this is an amazing ship"?

    submarines are boats, not ships

  • submarines are ship not boat. (USS - United States Ship not BOAT)

  • look it up dude, submarines are boats. they got they name because they were originally launched from ships, hence they were called boats

  • You are correct, submarines are called boats. Sometimes called just "sub" but most often it is called a "boat", as in U-boat which stands for "undersea boat."

My husband is on the USS Virginia.

  • @nicecookies im tryin to get assigned to the USS Missouri after a school. i hear groton picks are becoming slimmer though unfortunately

  • @nicecookies You'll never hear a British Submariner refer to his Boat as a 'Sub'. It's just not Cricket old chap :0)

  • @JosephNez

Quiet right a "Sub" is a sandwich

  • i double checked before i posted that comment

  • maybe you're right. i'm sorry i made mistake xD

  • lol, i dont think its the end of the world weather its ship (which is more logical) or boat (which is a technicality), i was probably feeling shitty when i posted the original comment and now everyones stuck with thumbs down. its a sad day for youtube :(

  • anyway, it would be shit to have the subs being called a usb lol

  • all i can say is HUMAN ERROR

  • i am impress with US weapons. defence budget 600billions this year US will spend 15billions on high speed trains for the next 5yrs China will speed 300billions

the military industrial complex is getting out of hand

  • As far as i know the 688 with the tipical fin mounted planes had/have no probs at all in breaking the ice.

They have just to be turned vertically.

I miss them really a lot, they give to the sub a more "killer", fierce, look.

  • I wanted to say, below, "...we'll have to wait at least......".

  • In my book "Modern naval combat" (by David and Chris Miller) edited in 1986 it says +30 knots submeged for the 688 class.

So, it would be very funny, if not a tragedy, if the newest and what is the pride of the USN, the VA class, couldnt reach a minimum of 30 knots while submerged.

In my opinion, the operational depth of the VA class ranges from 300 to 400 meters, perhaps 450, the crash depth exceeding 600 m. Im quite positive 'bout that.

  • Yea, sure, so we had to wait at least 20 years to know what is the the real operative and crash depth of the VA, no way. I want to know it right now, but i donno how to find it out.

You're right, they are allways speaking about +20 or +25 knots submerged....funny.

  • Although i believe it is highy classified, does anybody know what is the real operational depth of the VA?

And what is the crash depth as well.

    240 meters is just rediculous.

  • Yea, and that 25 knot top speed is the same top speed theyve been giving since the 1950's Skipjack subs. But ur right, that kind of info is REALLY classified. My friend served on the USS Hampton. He told me that even alot of the crew didnt know the true limits of the sub. He did tell me that it could dive MUCH deeper and go MUCH faster than they will ever publicly admit. Maybe when they finally retire the Virgina subs we MAY find out.

  • At 4.42 is a SSN, an LA 688 class nuclear fast attack sub, NOT an SSBN (ballistic missile) as it was said by the speaker. What a morron.

By the way, the VA class is simply a superlative sub, but i miss so much the horizontal stabilizators mounted on the turret that were the "signature" of the LA class.

  • I agree. those bow planes looked cool mounted on the mast of the LA subs, I think it was a problem breaking through ice though, so they moved them on the Seawolf.

  • gun844

I think you meant the greatest nation on Earth, with the best technology, because only an idiot would compare the U.S., the most generous superpower the world has ever seen, to the islamic terrorist sponsoring nations.

Yup, only a COMPLETE ASSHOLE would do that.

  • @dbviewer5 The best technology, you mean the one with Stem cells, Chobham tank armour and designing the F35? That's the UK. Superpower? GENEROUS? You're delusional.

  • Yeah the greatest terrorist of all the us goverment new toy....its sad very sad that they wasting there money to this shit.

  • How is this submarine so stealthy.

  • Hi m8 something tells me that " they " would be very stupid indeed to let that information out of the bag eh! - The Canadian Military is not short of certain " stealth " abilities, of that I am sure!! It appears to be the way to go in all aspects of Military hardware etc..

  • last seawolf sub- U.S.S. Carter (why named after an idiot?) has a huge section that houses mini subs & underwater drones.

  • Its named after Carter because Carters was the only U.S. President who served as a Submariner (even though he never completed Nuke training and ended up only serving on diesel boats)

  • I knew that, but he jumped ship. then went on to nearly destroy the United States. he continues to this day to support America's enemies, spread enemy propaganda, & generally act like a douchebag. I'm glad he never got to be in charge of an actual live reactor. saved the navy a terrible disaster.

  • Naming a sub after Jimmy Carter is like naming an Army division after George Armstrong Custer.

  • The actually did that...

  • Comment removed

  • yes rugby, the actual diving depth is classified for subs like this. also the plant type and speed is classified. if you notice, throught the video they do not go near the engineroom of the sub. the reason is because everything in the engineroom is classified to the outside world. as well they do not show you the propeller at all. oh and not everything that they told you about the sub is correct. i cannot tell you anything about it but lets just say the power plant is amazingly powerful

  • As someone mentioned, actual diving depth is grossly understated for security reasons.

Plus, US torpedoes go much, much deeper than any navy's subs, so I'm sure it'll do just fine when the time comes.

  • @rugbynimbus Why all this parroted American "best at everything" rhetoric? You inherited it from the British, problem is you aren't the British so it is stupid to say it. The spearfish torpedo is superior.

  • The actual depth of any submarine is classified.

  • Virgina can go a lot a lot deeper then what is said just like a Carriers true speed is classified.

  • Ya, but it's still badass

  • Wow I'm surprised that the Virginia can only dive to about 240 meters. Compared to other Subs that seems quite shallow

  • The unclassified depth anyways.

  • yeah that's true lol ;) still seems like the understatement of the century considering that some modern British and german attack subs manage 400m with ease. Still a badass sub though!!!
