@winston2015 I certainly gained a new respect for wildlife photographers after realising just how tricky it is to get a decent shot of a bird :) They move so swiftly! It was wonderful taking the time to just observe them though - glorious!
Fantastic shots. Thank you for sharing this unique insight to this island sanctuary. As I watched, I wonder if man is tampering with the course of nature. Yes, some extinction may be attributed to man's presence. But, others, if due to natural predators, should we interfere to entertain our selfish need to control? Anyway, that was a wonderful quote from Lawrence. It will serve as a cold slap in the face at my next pity party. (-:
A beautiful place. You are very lucky to visit it. I love seeing parts fo the world that are completely uninfluenced by man. Its so hard to find a nice view in the UK that isn't blotted by a telegraph pole, farm, or fields.
I think we should cover greenbelts in forests, and reintroduce all the wildlife that once lived there. One can only dream...
Wow, that was absolutely stunning! The place seemed to have a real Jurassic Park feel to it. I'm very impressed you were able to identify as many of the birds as you did.
It must have been a great trip to Tiritiri Matangi! I hang on your words and together with this beautiful video and music in the backround it was a great exciting introduction of this beautiful countryside!
you lucky sod lol i would kill to go on holiday to a place like that! those birds are so amazing... its a shame mans greed and selfishnes has led to the extinction of so meny animals... and jenifer... pliz make more videos!!!!!
So beautiful. I love how sweet and innocent these birds are and to read the descriptions... the one that is extinct from the mainland; it broke my heart to think of how fragile things like birds and our environment are. What a lovely thing it must have been to experience something like this. I love the story of how this all came to be. Definitely something I'll have to see for myself one day :)
I could have carried on watching your footage all night...so relaxing to watch and so very interesting...
It makes me so happy to know these birds are now protected from extinction...and with all the doom and gloom in the news nowadays it is so good to know such wonderful projects exist
I was certainly enraptured by the "carefree paradise" feel. The birdcalls added a wonderful exotic touch. I would love to wake up from sleeping overnight in a place like that. To be awakened by those sweets birdcalls, would be an experience I would not forget. I loved the soundtrack too. The calming melodies fit in very well. Funny, I didn't know about your passionate love of conservation and nature. Fun to see this "new" side to you! : ) Brian.
Thank you for letting us join you on this awesome adventure. It was turly a treat. I love the bird at 5:06 best because he/she looks so HUGGABLE to me! :D
Great shots Jennifer, I was trying to film a red bird in some brush the other day & I think it hid in a hole or something, IDK where it went, We have Hawks here in Florida, they are hard to get closeups.Tryin' to get MR.CatBoxMan to be Hawk bait so I can get a closeup but nothin' doing. He's watching this vid very closely though :)
looks like a very nice, peaceful, and secluded place. The images at the end at 6 minutes looked amazing. I would love to have a picture like that on my wall. Looks great!
The success of this island gives me hope that there can be other successes with rehabilitation of native habitats, both on the mainland and other islands ...
Now the only requirement is the collective will to do so
Hopefully someday the Kokako could become widespread in New Zealand once again...to hear its beautiful haunting song....

Did you take those sequence shots at the end too? They are amazing.
What a lovely and somewhat mysterious Island. I'd love to go there and make a wildlife documentary.
