It probably won't do any good because A) it's a non-binding resolutions, and B) even if it was binding, all a country would have to do is withdraw from the U.N. to not obey it. But I just wanted to debunk the silly myth that this resolution was targeted at free speech in the west. You could still make the argument that it is, but it takes a bit of rhetorical gymnastics.

No one would actually go out of their way to impose international law to try to protect their own 'feelings'; this is far more than about feelings, it's purely to do with power. It won't end with the anti-blaspheme law; I think its quite clear that Islamists would keep on demanding more -- you cannot hope to silence them by concessions, you need to outright reject their cries. Unfortunately though, leaders who will dare to stand their ground against these pathetic people are all too few.

And, worst of all, there is a precedent in this ongoing line of events. Where peace-loving individuals tried to placate evil in a fit of desperation or even naivety: when Chamberlain tried to stop Hitler from his goal of conquest. And the UN and others will continue to pet them and calm them. It won't work. I wonder how long it will take for the world to finally respond to this evil and put a stop to it. It it were five minutes ago, it would not be soon enough.

As a friend of mine, who works at UN, says if all those people went one night to your house you would call the police! Imagine: Arafat, Ahmadineyad, Kim Jong, Medvedev, Castro, king Faisal of Saudi Arabia, Omar el Bechir (Sudan), Obiang (Guinea),Abdullah Yusuf (Somalia), Hu Jintao (Chine), etc... all dictators, killers, terrorists, bloody son-of-a-bitch... that house is as the residence of the "Adams Monster's family" We only need Hitler & Stalin and we'd have the complete collection!!!

Actually I'm not surprised. We've seen ALL our leaders shitting themslves on their trousers when those famous ironic cartoons of Mohammed, they were so frighten of Muslims anger in our countries; riots, burning buildings, killing priests, ...they apologized, & forbid those drawings all around the world. If we must shut up in order to avoid being killed in our own countries why are you surprised about what happens in a club in which the majority are dictators, thieves, terrorists & lunatics?

If the religious nut jobs think free expression of disdain for their foolish belief systems will definitely lead to violence against them, they should ponder what will happen if they succeed in dismantling free speech. If they were thinking people (obviously they're not since religion forbids thinking) they'd weigh the relative outcomes of free speech versus denial of free speech. One had better fall into the traditionalist view that free speech is better in the long run for everyone.

It surprises me that the UN would even seriously consider the views of a religion over the basic human right of free speech.
On a bright note, the UN is a pointless organisation anyway. They don't actually achieve much in the real world, and when they do, it is usually too little, too late.
Just because they mandate something, doesn't mean it will ever be applied in any meaningful way.

How this vote even came up, I don't know, but, I do know that the UN had no choice but to allow the declaration, if only because we freedom-loving nations were simply outvoted. All democratic nations voted against it, while the Muslim & non-demo nations voted against it & their are just more of them, sadly, while, at least 33 nations abstained from the vote, altogether, thus the passage of this UNENFORCEABLE "declaration".

Of course, UN's declaration is NOT 'Universal'...Article 29 of the Declaration of the Universal Human Rights and Freedoms CLEARLY states NOBODY can exercise them in any way that does not further the UN's goals....

Very good video and very good use of sarcasm against extremists wanting us to shut up so they may resume their verbal attacks on free thinkers free of any backfire. Freedom of speech is one of our few fundamental rights in occidental countries. The United Nations have no right to deprive us from it.
