bloody stunning song , ive listened to it 39 times tonight ....amazing.. its so like the ole fisherman blues ...it caught my attention ...im a total fan ..thanx boys...
I am so impressed Mike Scott hampered promotion efforts by refusing to perform on Top of the Pops, because that back in the day, TOTP's insisted its performers lip sync. Principled and talented. I envy Mr Scott.
Long time no hear - probably their best ever song in a very strong back catalogue.....
The production on this is brilliant it sounds like about 50 acoustic guitars all strumming in unison....trumpet break is brilliant too...Waterboys foreve

My favourite song of all time from my favourite album of all time. Since buying this record on release in the early 80's I have listened to this album in it's entirety at least once every week. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! As with all MR Scott's lyrics, the listener is allowed to transport themselves to pastures new, by sitting back and using your imagination.
@ziggyzdad ok once a week sounds dangerous but your story might be amazing if you listen to other albums once a week too like medication......so.......what else are you into pan?
The song is about how the christ followers have broadcast the idea of demeaning and demoralizing ancient pagan cultures, including wiping some of them out, while at the same time adopting many pagan concepts in order to assimilate the people they have come to rule. Easter is probably the most significant one of these,
@JackyRowe Hi Jack, thanks for the info. Just listened to the Levellers' Men an Tol (for the first time!) and yes, id DID leave quite an impression... thanks! Sam

Con lo que me gusta a mi este grupo no sé como no me dedico a investigar más sobre él. Muy bueno, no conocía este tema. :)
Lo compartimos, vale? ;)
Feliz semana.
