Anakin had no idea that he had been lured. The Chancellor didn't care about Padme.. All he wanted was to use Anakin as a tool to destroy the Jedi Order.
If Qui Gon Jinn wouldn't have come to Tatooine in the first place then the Jedi Order would still been alive.
Obi-wan, the purest jedi ever. I loved that he could put up a fight vs Anakin. Obi is an essential part in the SWsaga but unfortunately very underestimated imo. Love Obi
Well I could say many things about acting of Anakin, but as Vader hes quite nice. Honestly i earlier considered Anakin as someone who didnt know what he want from life: to be a Force Choking, brutal, angry Jedi serving Republic? Later i learned the truth was "a bit" more complicated.
Why do so many people hate the prequels? I can understand why so many hated "The Phantom Menace", but I think "Attack Of The Clones" and "Revenge Of The Sith" were perfectly fine.
@skyfunluc Well, not really. Remember Padme died because she lost the will to live when Anakin turned to the dark side. So the only person there really is to blame is Anakin, and Palpatine.
@skyfunluc Yeah I know what you mean. I honestly think Anakin was on the verge of giving up the whole thing and running away with her. He seemed generally concerned by how upset she was and it really did look like he was realising enough was enough...THEN HE SAW OBI-WAN...and that ruined everything.....
@shorterthanedelric well I don't think anakin was thinking clearly though because he just killed a Jedi and he was having visions of Padme dying but you make a good point
@shorterthanedelric Why do you say that? The decisions he made weren't as wise as they could have been, but I wouldn't exactly call him stupid, or lacking in intelligence.
" I don't know you anymore. Anakin you're breaking my heart. You are going down a path, I can't follow...Stop now and come back! I love you!" damn natalie is a great actress!
@starrymushroom Are you serious, though? Moments like that are the ABSOLUTE WORST parts of Star Wars; first of all Natalie Portman has always been painfully cliché in the prequels, with lines like in episode II (which you no doubt enjoyed, amiright?) "I truly... and deeply... love you". Same shit with this line. It's just so corny, I hope you realize Lucas's writers could have done a little more to make you say "OMG that's so sad" than that. Come on.
@strawberrygirl101 lolwut? Why would you say that? Was I behaving erratically through my comment? I don't think so, in fact I only said Lucas's writers did a poor job on this scene.
isn't it funny how anakin pretty says the same thing to luke? where he is "you and i together can rule the galaxy"...and mentions how he can kill the emperor. he's 0-2 with that little speech.
I don't really understand why Padme is so shocked, I mean this is all old news to her judging from what Anakin has done in Attack of the Clones (and his behavior in general). If Obi Wan & Yoda both went to take out the Emperor, they would probably succeed.
I keep this scene in my playlist, because I constantly quote from here to my friends, referring them to different sections of this clip. HAHA. They call me a nerd. But I'm not complaining.
You have done that yourself. Japanese girls never liked Black men anyway, so you never stood a chance, AnaKOON. You have let this White libertarian twist your mind until you have become the very thing that you swore to destroy.
One of the biggest complaints I have heard about the prequels is that apparently Anakin is a prick right from the start of episode 2 and therefore him going to the darkside isn't surprising etc. But when you watch this scene, well he wasn't like THIS in episode 2! With the Tusken Raiders he was actually very upset by what he'd done. He just spends this scene trying to justify what he's done in this film!!!
Turn on Audio captions and when Anaken says "...to my new Empire." Obi-Wan responds by saying "Go out with you?" instead of "your new Empire?". Its hilarious.
@zapman266 Sort of. The order and Obi Wan already did what they can for Anakin in regards for helping him. He kept to himself a lot so that doesn't help if anyone to help him. He was also very reactionary and you can't help someone when they're in denial. The Order can be open but not to evil. The root of evil is always an absolute. Just black and white.
@zapman266 But no! "Only" is more exclusivity rather than proposing opposite sides of a spectrum. An absolute, such as being an enemy or ally, does have implied elements of exclusion, but "only" is more about grouping rather than alignment. Say you have the spectrum, on which the Siths are at one side who deal in absolutes, and the Jedi on the other. He's not saying, you're either a Sith or a Jedi, he's just saying that among all the groups on that spectrum, only Siths deal in absolutes.
@aidsddddddd But, as I said. Saying that on said spectrum, that only the Siths deal absolutes, is itself, and absolute. You pretty much put what I said into a much longer explanantion, without blatanly stating the point. If you do not see this, you may want to reread your comment.
@zapman266 Fair enough, I can see what you mean. My comment I suppose wasn't the clearest of all, but what I mean is that an "absolute" is more like black and white. What Obi-Wan said was just that on a spectrum of colour, only this one colour does such-in-such. To be an absolute, there can only be two colours and they must both be on the extreme. But yeah, my previous comment wasn't really that good, heh.
@zapman266 I see what you mena now. However, I still believe that it is black and white, what he said, because it's saying "only a sith deals an absolute," meaning that no one else does. That's what I mean, but now I can see what you were saying. These comments are gettign really long. Sort of.

I agree. In this clip, Hayden makes Anakin sound convincingly insane, but not really menacing or frightening or evil, even when he says "Don't you turn against me!"
The scene would be far more powerful if Padme was not only shocked and heartbroken at the change in Anakin, but also, at the end, actually, really frightened OF him! Of being physically hurt by him. By Vader.
Darth Vader should be EVIL - not just crazy, which is much easier to forgive -but cruel. Hayden just never showed that.
@timonsolus He never showed Vader being evil? He killed younglings, and murdered the seperatist leaders in cold blood, AND killed a Master (at least one that we KNOW of, up to this point). You say he doesn't look evil? Not to start an argument, but I think Hayden portrayed Vader's lust for power and youthful arrogance beautifully. It is because of arrogance and overconfidence that he leaps at Obi-Wan and gets his legs and arm cut off at the end of the duel. I think Hayden did extremely well.
Well you have a point, but remember that there is about 18 or so years between that moment and the first time you see Vader choking a Rebel officer to death and torturing Leia on the Death Star. He's had plenty of time to let all that evil and darkness consume him and twist him into a whole different person than the 9 year old who won a podrace just to help some strangers, or the Jedi Knight who would not leave his master behind to make his own escape.
When Padme says "Anakin, you're breaking my heart", it always tears me up.

@timonsolus
