I find it hilarious how Brits like to complain how Americans can't act but when you look at any of their own bigshots, you'd almost never hear one of them bother with getting their roles straight. Sean Connery playing a Soviet? Scottish accent! Patrick Stewart playing a Frenchman? English accent and Earl Grey tea! Michael Caine as an upper-class English butler type? Give it a more Cockney / UK army sergeant whatever accent!
I'm sorry, but that's not "acting". That's "lazy".
There a lots of movies in America that use English actors to play anyone European. True this isn't acurate one bit, but one must use imagination. I would rather watch these movies or any with foreign actors with their language but with subtitles.
@whereskim89 I agree, but...i can suspend my disbelif for a movie or two.
Though i do think its worth the effort to get foregin casting for foreign characters, even if the production lies in an entirely other country/language.
I thought the opening credits with all the dead things were cool. I don't know why, but dead things don't scare me, unless they start moving, in that case I'm scared as all hell
02:26 : I like the "What the heck is lurking in the shadows, a few feet behind the wooden planks ?" impression. It's much scarier when you don't see anything and can barely hear something.
On Wikipedia, I read that, at one moment in the film, you see the German soldiers peeking through the bunker's vision slits and shudder upon hearing the tune "Man with an harmonica", played by an American soldier somewhere in the forest.
Picked this up on DVD in Germany back in 2004. Cool part is that I can watch it dubbed over in German with English captions if I want, and there are no region problems with the DVD. Always described this film to friends as a really good "Tales from the Crypt" episode. Not bad at all.
i picked this up at a family video rentl place and i thought this was going to be terrible but it turned out to be soo much better than i had anticipated
The lack of accents never did bug me. The accents we're used to are a bit too stereotypical for me.
I just imagine that I understand German so well, that it sounds that way. Sure, Inglorious Basterds did get it RIGHT, but I'd rather be able to see 100% of the visuals, than spend 50% of my time reading a damn film >3
its hard to read because its so dark, the second part of the word is for sure "gefahr" which means "danger". the first part is, i think, "gas", which means just the same in english.

Good Movie... Saw it once before. Great suspense. Recommended for thriller fans... not so much a War movie in terms of action vs the enemy.

Is it just me or does Christopher Fairbank look just like a carbon copy of James Coburn in 'Cross of Iron'? Right down to the Africa Korps Cap.
Check it out on Google. Surely this isn't a coincidence?

I agree. The best thing I like about this movie is the suspense it generates. Gave quite a few chills, I'd say!

Same here, mate.
So, here is the question we all wonder ( ... or not ^^) : what is lurking behind the planks at 02:22 - 02:26 ?
What the German soldiers are poiting their rifles at ?
Ghosts ? Zombies ? Ghost zombies ?

@Briselance I got a feeling of Call of Duty: Black OPs at that point. haha!

What's written on the sign, at 01:24 ?
It's "Achtung !", which means "Watch out!" or "Beware!", but what's written below the skull ?
Does anyone know, please ?
