Djimon Hounsou might be my favorite underrated actor of all time. He should be pulling roles like Solomon and the slave from Gladiator on a yearly basis. Best supporting actor in the biz!
this has got to be one of the most powerful movies in history!! I have seen it dozens of times and I still cry my eyes out everytime. I took my mom to see it when it was in theatres and she was speechless afterwards.
@hatem007 Let me explain. 4 / 447 = ~1%. The dislikes equal about 1 percent. Now back to your question, it must be the corporations disliking this vid. HAHA.
0:00 I see a poor African boy reading books by candlelight.
0:22 He tells me how he gets up when it's still dark, walks 10 miles to school everyday & must help his family make money to survive at the same time. He has no free time to have fun but he is determined to succeed.
0:44 I realize that all of the difficulties in my life are nothing when compared to what this boy goes through.
1:08 I walk away, having found a new motivation for success. I will find a way to succeed in life, too.
Bought yesterday the blue ray of this amazing movie. I have the dvd since it was released. One of the most emotional and best movie with best actors..
Djimon Hounsou is a brillat actor!! He has so much talent and when he acts you can literally feel the pain of the person role he is playing. He's been long overdue for his Grammy!!
The natural resources of a country are the sovereign property of its people. They are not ours to steal, or take by force, or exploit in the name of our comfort, our corporations, or our consumerism.
@grindmaggots666 I think his best 3 roles are pretty much even. Blood Diamond and the Departed. He gave an incredible performance in Inception too...but it wasn't an acting clinic like those 2 were.
@PepJord It's been 3 weeks already & you still haven't ??? Not a big Leo fan after all I guess ;-) LOL!
I thought of sharing this with you, I watched The Departed & Blood diamond, back to back. This was back in 2006....... The former being an excellent crime thriller & the latter being a very poignant experience for me!
@rameshrnayak I bought it! I haven't had the chance to watch it still because I've been extremely busy moving country but I promise I will soon!
I haven't seen The Departed either D: I'm a terrible terrible person lol. But I do like Leo, I watched Inception 2 months ago and thought it was brill. And Titanic was on a couple of weeks ago (but I've seen that thousands of times since I was about 10 aha)
The Third World is not a world apart... and the witness you will hear today speaks on its behalf. Let us hear the voice of that world. Let us learn from that voice...and let us ignore it.......no more.
ummm.... you missed the most important part of the whole movie, and especially the end: the statement at the end about blood diamonds and children soldiers.
too bad that today western countries are raping third world countries out of all their reources......e.g iraq, afghanistan, africa etc etc the list goes on and on.
@Oirghialla89 The name of the song is Nangirira. I know the African Children's Choir sings it, but the versions on YouTube are just the ACC. I can't find this exact track.
