Hello. To answer your question that's Glenn Frey saying "Say Goodnight, Dick" and the end of the song in reference to Richard Nixon. Have a great day.
@gregory3145 Thanks--mystery solved. Now if someone can just tell me what John Lennon says in a barely audible voice as Hey Jude is fading out I'll be a happy man!
Can anyone tells me what Frey (or is it Henley) says around 4:10, just before the song fades out? It's been driving me crazy since I first purchased this album nearly 40 years ago.
I've stil got my copy of the album and have played it a million times (well, close to it). I LOVE every song on it, but this has always been my favorite. I still love to play it while doing housework and dance around
Why did my mom let grandma get rid of her eagle and B. Joel records I mean I've destroyed those Beatle records from playing them so much! And Grandma said they would never be used again didn't expect me to love rock did ya grandma? Or to have such modern music!
Don Felder's guitar lick starting at 2:52 adds a kind of Southern Rock feel to the song (after all he is from Gainsville.) The Eagles defined and continue influencing the sound of Country Music of the 21st Century. Great posting of a hugely underrated moment in the development of popular music.
It's strange... I'm not really a fan of The Eagles at all, but I have loved this song for as long as I can remember. On top of that this has to be one of their least popular and least radio played songs.
@KillBinLaden100 But what would you give up for the great privilege of having been there when On the Border was released. We got to listen to it over and over and see the Eagles live when they first started touring. Priceless!

@raelraven2 Sounds like I'm outta here to me. Several lyrics sites suggest sick and tired of it. I dunno. Let's call him up and ask, LOL! : )

Great tune! Jeffery Lebowski, you're wrong, the Eagles rock, we'll let you slide, but you were being very undude in that cab.

My girlfriend embroidered the album cover art on my denim shirt. It was beautiful. We loved the LA cowboy rock sound.

This tune, You never cry like a lover, Good day in hell and Is it true are soooo good.
And all in one album...amazing.
Too bad most people don't "get" them - including Eagles fans...go figure.
