The way i see is: the iphone is a nice car, its got a decent engine, but they only allow you to drive in a straight line. The android, on the other hand, is a fast car, requires some skill to drive it, and its a beast on the curves, thus being way more interesting to handle. Call me crazy, but i prefer the latter.

the so called "Apple-Car" has its parts made by one company, cause they made the software AND the hardware. As for the bloatware, they dont bother me that much. AND you can always get rid of them anyway. I´m not a fanboy, be it apple or android. My wife owned an Iphone, so i had some experience with it. Android is more like my game, that is. But frankly, i´d like to see QNX on my device. I´m waiting to see if RIM will make it so.

@IIIIN3ROOIIII The desire HD is far too big for any real practical use. Its the kind of phone you use at home... just to play games and watch movies. Plus the price tag on the HD is mammoth. One equal to the blackberry torch and the iphone 4! The desire z is good, and isn't as pricey, but I personally would be worried about the hinges on the phone. If you go out quite a bit on the weekend etc, I would be cautious about that phone and get out insurance! especially if you have a 2 year contract.

and the desire z is nearly 40$ cheaper than the HD. so its not a big difference there. the iphone is only bout 90$ more expensive than the desire z. so its not a that scary difference between those phones as ur sayin. and im not sayin this cuz i have money. i am only a student, but i get paid for goin to school :P

@IIIIN3ROOIIII well in England, people generally pay monthly for a phone, so every month something on the lines of £25 for the desire and £35 for the desire Hd etc etc. They used to be only 12 months or 18 months of paying monthly. But now, phone companys are becoming more and more stingy, and are boosting most deals up to 2 years. and uno, insurance incase u break the phone, u can get a new one for free. yeahh well im a student also, but phones seem to be very pricey here :/ lol

I switched from ATT to a different carrier recently, went with a Galaxy S, and it feels too much like "im a better iphone." I'm still within the 30 days where i think i can get a different phone, and im going to take it back and try out the desire. HTC feels more like they're trying to really re-define the phone experience.

HTC sense is not bad, but in my opinion LauncherPro is much better as android launcher. It bring practical dock bar for shotcuts (with new massages/emails/missed calls counter) and lot of more options for customize. For example.. you can set number of screens, desktop grid, app screen grid, size of widgets, set memory usage, set rotating for desktop screen depending on gravitymetr.. etc.

Also ADW launcher and other launchers are not bad, but I get use to LauncherPro.

@coolsam5000 HTC evo 4g has approximately the same performance, but in my opinion worse design (its successor of HD2, so also maybe worse staying power). HTC evo 4g has better camera (8 Mpx, desire has only 5 Mpix ).

IMHO the general difference is, that evo 4g has HDMI output (hd ready - 720p). Acording to the camera on android 2.2 froyo can record clip in resolution 1280x720 and the RocketPlayer(DivX player for android) can play even 720p movie, it can be usefull thing.

This phone is better than Iphone4 as iphone 4 only support .mp4 video files.and you have to convert files evertime.

whether in the htc desire you can install free software and you can run .mkv.avi and many many files without converting them.
