  • I loved crash, it has a great message that everyone could relate to and was truly a social commentary that made you think about how life really is and how toelrant you are. Great filmed, deserved the award!

  • Probably the WORST top prize winner ever as far as I can remember.

  • What a joke. One of the most unworthy oscar winners ever. Braveheart in 1996 was another.

  • @MrRazorblade999 Braveheart was 1995

  • @CSIguy1000 Whatever...it's still a mediocre film.

  • @MrRazorblade999 Braveheart is one of the best movies of all times! you SUCK!!

  • @SirHowardOfWalowitz You're obviously very, very young.

  • And to all of you movie lovers, you should really be wondering why The Help was nominated for best picture . . lmao.

  • Fuck all of you I loved Crash. The performances in the movie were great and it had very flowy storytelling even though there were many seperate storylines. It still is one of my favorite movies of all time with an important message and an outstanding ensemble. I believe it deserved all three Oscars that it won.

  • @piepiepie00092 It should have won for best original song too. "In the Deep" was far better than "hard out here for a pimp". They robbed them of that one.

  • "Oh no" 1:38

  • Jack Nicholson says everything: ... craaaash? *ok, no*

  • You could tell even the sound guys werent happy about Crash winning. I mean how often do you see the best picture winners being played off? And their speech wasnt even that long.

  • Crash was the most contrived piece of junk I've ever seen and I cannot believe it won awards. It is the reason I no longer watch the awards shows.

  • Crash was a great film - a million years better than 'Brokeback Arsewipe Boredom'.

  • @RelativeBadger I do not understand why no one likes it!

  • the funny thing is, every year, the academy is criticized because the best picture winner is never a surprise - well in 2006, it was a big surprise. ironically, everyone was even more pissed off ! I loved Brokeback Mountain, it is a great movie and Heath Ledger should have won the oscar as well, but I truly loved Crash even more. The scene when the little girl's protecting her father is devastating ! & I'm 'Gay' bitches, so stop sayin it was an anti-gay gesture! PS MATCH POINT Best Picture 2006!

  • the reason why this shit won over masterpiece, 'cuz the academy is HOMOPHOBIA.

  • True fact: Nicholson, an active Academy member, was disappointed that Crash won over Brokeback Mountain

  • I am gay,and i don't think brokeback mountain deserved to win.

  • So what, the biggest joke of noughties Oscars. Everyone agrees that "Crash" was a worse movie by a mile. "Brokeback Mountain" made that year, really unfotunate and pity that Academy didn't let them win wthat they deserved. Well ok, we have to go on...

  • I loved both movies but to say Brokeback was a true love story is not all that true one was truly in love but can't say that about another. I loved crash cause it made you think.types you can't say that you have never thought like that. This movie made you think and explore yourselves and say could I be guilty of being a little racist. Cause we have all thought some of those things the characters were feeling. I just love movies that make you think. Brokeback didn't do that for me.

  • the audience looks stunned yet most of them probably voted for it.

  • @oracene8 what in gods name are you talking about? Audience does not vote

  • Shut da hell up. Crash was awesome!

  • I'll admit the shouts of homophobia after Brokeback lost Best Picture got on my nerves. Why? There are loads of countries that criminalize homosexuality--some even punish with the death penalty--and the biggest shouts of homophobia are of the loss of a movie award? C'mon!

  • @JonnyTainment can you just explain that a little? are you saying the audience thinks the academy are homophobic? or that the audience are homophobic? i think its a bit harsh to say that the academy is homophobic because they didn't give Brokeback best picture. isn't that a little backwards? munich and capote were also better than crash i think.

  • I still remember this. It took me a few seconds to catch the surprise and shock of it all. I also still going over the 'whoa' Jack said after announcing the win : 1:34 .

  • did anyone notice Nicholson saying "no" after he announced Crash won?

  • @The92Ari Being gay doesnot make you terrible

  • BROKEBACK GOT ROBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(.

  • anyone who doesn't believe this deserved to win clearly did not get the message of this movie. it was powerful, inspirational, REALISTIC, and eye opening. still one of my all time favorite movies

  • Worst Best Picture winner ever! And yes, that includes Driving Miss Daisy.

  • WTF. . Munich or Brokeback should have won

  • Brokeback Mountain was the one to be. NOT THIS THING

  • Crash is the worst best picture winner in the academy's history!

  • I think Crash is a really great movie. I know many said that Brokeback Mountain should have won, but I thought Crash was great too. It's one of my favorites.

  • | Idiot.

    V

  • Crash was good enough for the nomination, but not the win. Brokeback Mountain & Capote were the best in this category.

  • @The92Ari don't be stupid

  • @The92Ari no. not even close. Brokeback mountain is a meaningful, well acted and well written drama about to outcast drawn by tempataion. Justin beiber has people write music for him thats designated towards the 17 and below girl demographic and tries to play off like he's talented. two totally different things, and you're just an idiot who doesn't even seem to know what gay means

  • @The92Ari Go to hell along with all the other homophobic pieces of shit.

  • @The92Ari Bieber is worthless as an artist and regardless of his sexuality can go die in my opinion. Brokeback Mountain on the other hand is a milestone in film while Crash was mediocre at best. And whether its between two men or a man and a woman its the best love story ever made. Having said that and made my "support" clear im going to going to do things with my GIRLFRIEND. (Im a hetero sexual white male who hates Justin bieber)

  • @The92Ari you are incoherently stupid, you dumb piece of shit. Please, stay away from society you ignorant motherfucker.

  • @The92Ari Justin Bieber sucks regardless of his sexuality. Broke back Mountain on the other hand was a milestone in film and a great love story that definitively deserved the prize over Crash. Justin Beiber can go jump of empire state as far as i care, but broke back should have won this prize. Im saying that and now im going to kiss my straight girlfriend.

P.S. since i can say for sure that you have not actualy seen Brokeback Moutain and probably did not see crash you have no right to talk

  • @The92Ari Im Straight and i loved that movie and cant stand Beiber(who is actually straight) because he sucks and Brokeback moutain was the best film that year by far.

And you sir gay or straight are a moron

  • I'll admit it... I loved Crash.

  • that facial reaction from Jake Gylennhall and the fact that only the casts of Crash were the ones giving the movie a standing ovation implies something

  • THE WORST best picture EVER .

  • My eyes widened that Brokeback Mountain didn't win, but Crash was excellent

  • WELL DESERVED!

is what I would say if brokeback mountain won

  • crash was THE worst of those five

  • was a good movie , but no enouhg to win a oscar !!

  • Crash is one of the most manipulative, plotless and pointless pieces of shit ever made. I would rather give Twilight: New Moon the Best Picture Oscar than gve Crash the Oscar. I would rather give Breaking Dawn part 1 and Transformers 2 The BP Oscar than Crash.

I swear, any Twilight and Michael Bay film is better than Crash.

  • @thelupoistheman1 how is it anything you said? it is to show us how in some way we are all connected to each other, and how our actions can affect others lives in a way we may never realize. it also shows how racism and prejudice is still very much alive and can sometimes hinder our judgement. this movie is very powerful and inspirational, && i am sorry you can not open your eyes enough to realize that. probably the most realistic and true to life movie i have ever seen.

  • Oh well it didn't get over it it's only an oscar

  • I love how Nicholson is surprised, and for good reason

  • Are you all kidding me?

This SHITS all over Brokeback Mountain. Oh my god. Crash was a masterpiece!

  • I ain't going to lie I was excepting Brokeback Mountain to win best picture

  • discrimination, is what the member did here, FUCKERS

  • this is "Citizen Kane" all over again

  • Other than Ellen Burstyn not winning in 2000, and Karen Black not winning in 1970, this is the WORST rip off from the academy EVER

  • any other one of those films were more worthy of this award

  • anybody else notice at the end she said thank you to my husband and wife?

  • Hey, I loved BBM and Munich , but Crash was able to intergrate 6+ different stories and make them all interesting.

  • @XvxBERSERKxvX it was cheap and self rightious . BBM was cinematic and holds you close. Munich one of spiel bergs best.

  • "Crash" will go down as the "How Green Was My Valley" of my generation.

  • really unexpected i lost the bet god dammit !

  • well deserved crash

  • Crash was a horrible film.

  • I want to point something out: The film in third spot ALWAYS wins. Look at all the times the have called out the nominees and the film called out third always wins. Biggest clue. Third time is indeed the charm.

  • I love the triumphant version of "In the deep" it gives me chills!

  • 2:06 the disappointment in Jake's face!

    haha

  • The worst decision ever for Best Film that I can remember was The English Patient. It was really boring all the way through. I have not seen Crash or Brokeback Mountain. So I can't comment on this one.

  • @TheLecheMilk I barely remember The English Patient but I have seen Brokeback Mountain and Crash and they both great films

  • Questionable films win often.. I mean look at the last couple years.. Kings Speech beats Social Network? Total bullshit. It happens. Hopefully they get it right this year, my votes for The Artist.

  • Reason for Brokeback Mountain losing in one word: GAY

  • Give me David Cronenberg's Crash any day of the week.

  • Why was everyone so surprised? Crash was a better film.

  • To all you saying "Brokeback Mountain" should've won, let me ask you something: what if it was heterosexual love? Would it have earned as much attention? Would it have even been nominated for as many Oscars that night? Would people have even liked it as much? I'm not saying "Brokeback Mountain" was a bad film, nor that it's bad to be gay, but the Academy got it right with "Crash". Just because it didn't have gay people in it doesn't mean it needs to be called "inferior". It WAS the best picture.

  • BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN SHOULDVE WON

  • @homieblossom agreed.

  • "Ca-PO-tay." Honestly that was my favorite part of the whole video.

  • you know what, it was voted on. Every film had an equal chance to win, and the better film won.

  • Did she really thank her husband AND her wife?

  • 192 personas sabemos de cine

  • Who cares?... Really... BOTH films were incredible

  • the only reason people probably wanted BROKEBACK mountain to win, was because it was about a pack of gay dudes, we all know how sympathetic hollywood is to the gays

  • Crash? Really? The worst of the five won the award! Every other movie would be great, though I think that it was a Brokeback Mountain award! Or Good Night, And Good Luck!

  • Who's that babe in blue at 0:13?

  • Munich was also a good film, a piece of art

  • Munich was my bet, such a classic tale told in a timeless way.

  • crash was a rly good movie

  • WORST MOVIE EVER!

  • WORST MOVIE EVER!

  • I don't care what anyone says. I thought Crash was a fucking great film.

  • I would rather watch every Tyler Perry movie than to have to suffer through this pretentious crap again! This is the worst movie I have EVER seen. Most of the actors did a great job, but the writing was just terrible. Great movies make you feel various emotions. Joy, fear, tension, sadness, etc. All I felt was suicidal depression! And all that crap about this movie having a "message" is bullshit. If I wanna see a movie about tolerance, I'll watch Milk or American History X.

  • before i got into film... ive heard of Brokeback mountain, and i havent heard of Crash.. i think that should say something

  • Brokeback didn't win. Capote didn' win. The Academy was still a place full of homophobic bastards...

  • Jack's look on 1:35 woe!

Actually I think this decisions shows that the ACADEMY votes not so much by contemporary mood swings nor public opinion but by its OWN standards of excellence whatever that may be agree or disagree.

  • I don't which one is the biggest WTF! moment in Oscar history: 'Crash' winning Best Picture or Tom Hooper winning Best Director for 'The King's Speech'.

  • crash was lame.

  • Hello. Can you upload Crash winning Film Editing?

  • great movie! shows so good the racism of the normal life... deserved the oscar even if there were other very good movies:)

  • crash is literally the most underserving film to ever win an oscar, even if it WASN'T up against 2 amazing films like Brokeback Mountain and Munich, it still shouldn't have won any awards... it sucked.

  • Did the world know Ludacris could act?

  • Capote should have won.

  • and the oscars goes to...CRASH?!!

  • Capote, Lord of War, The Weather Man, The Upside of Anger...all more qualified. Hell even Hustle & Flow!

  • You cannot even begin to compare BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN with......crash. Even Jack Nicholson expression looked dissapointed. This academy award edition really sucked!!!

  • @axelaxelmcr was that disappointment or was that a reaction of "Wow the Academy has balls not to go with the current trend, but sticking to whatever it really feels as art."

  • yeah they messed this up...OLD GAY HOLLYWOOD get over it and vote it right.

  • very well-deserved winner

  • Brokeback Mountain should've won. Crash is good, but it's not better than Brokeback.

  • I don't know what was the best in 2005, but certainly not Crash. I think the screenplay should have gotten a Razzie nomination. I have never seen a movie that is so blatant and so over the top when driving it's theme. The characters were just mouthpieces for the filmakers to spread their false message: EVERYONE is a racist.

  • @JJdaPK Couldn't disagree more.

  • @JJdaPK Have you been to Los Angeles or California for that matter. Yes, racism is very prevalent there and it's blantant in your face racism.

  • crash sucked

  • Years had passed and time tells right, we still remmeber brokeback mountain, no one remebers T/Crash :P

  • @eggsel And yet, you're here watching a video of Crash winning Best Film. How'd that happen?!

  • @eggsel so true!

  • Brokeback should have won

  • 3:06 clooney assessing his prey

  • @mrfruity77 Ewww it does kind of look like he's doing that. Doesn't matter though because he is hot!

  • 1.all the movies that year were FANTASTIC

    2. brokeback mountain was the best, well acted porno/lifetime movie ever made

    3. that oscar orchestra is rude but are very good at their job lol

    4. crash was awesome

  • Brokeback and Good Night, and Good Luck were both far more superior films and were both more deserving of best picture. Great films, not good ones, should win best picture and Crash winning is truly disappointing.

  • Bottom line is no one even remembers the movie Crash yet everyone will remember Brokeback Mountain it was a beautiful movie that was ROBBED and everyone knew it!

  • I love Jacks Nicholson's eyebrows.

  • @MrPikasato ... grammar

  • I think BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is a piece of art! and crash is just a good movie.

  • @jaom1905 Munich

  • Brokeback should of won hands down

  • i would love to know how this WON the academy award yet Terrence Mallick's The New World was not even nominated

  • Crash - a film for people who need to be fed the serious, difficult and complex message that racism exists in modern society.

  • all the other nominees were better than Crash.

But as the Academy is not always fair ...

  • The worst best picture pic was Kramer vs Kramer winning over Apocalypse Now (the greatest war movie ever made)......not that kramer was a bad movie.....it was pretty heart felt....but it just wasnt in the class of apocalypse now......

  • Crash truly deserved it it was the best film of the 5

  • I honestly don't get the whole 'homophobic' aspect of Brokeback Mountain losing Best Picture. I mean, it won other Oscars. No one would say that, had Crash lost, the Academy is racist. There are thousands of members of the Academy. Enough voted for it over Brokeback Mountain. Not every single person can be a homophobe.

  • Why did Jack Nicholson reacted that way?

    Simple.

That piece of paper read: "You choose, Jackie".

Jack, bless you! Thanks for choosing Crash!!!

  • Why did Jack reacted like that?

Was it because he was surprised about crash winning best picture?

    No.

    No.

    And no.

That piece of paper read: "Choose the one you think best"!

  • Brokeback Mountain is a good film with amazing actors and a excellent director. But it wasn't worthy to win best picture.

Munich was the best, but Crash is a very good movie and deserves this Oscar.

  • I sooo agree with you man. This award shows art is more important than political correctness.

  • one of the Worst Best Picture winners for sure

  • @eaterHP,

Almost as bad as Slumdog Millionaire. Good Night and Good Luck should have won.

  • @thelupoistheman1 Slumdog Deserved every award it won

  • i think it was a tough pick because both films were so controversially spectacular, but i think they made the right decision with crash. it was just much broader in its message and can relate to more people. regardless, both films were a great contribution to the film industry.

  • Ok most people on here don´t know anything about cinema. Not only BBM was clearly superior but Munich was absolutely superior to the basic Crash too. Please don´t make me laugh

  • I was shocked because Brokeback Mountain was the favorite to win

  • I don't see the big deal about BM. Just because it's about gay romance?

  • 1:30 la descepción de Jack nicholson

  • I liked both movies and I´m a gay guy - frankly I thought Brokeback Mountain was a beautiful love story but there was nothing that blew my mind about that film.

  • I'm not a troll, (i'm actually a gay guy myself) but i'm glad crash won the oscar!

It touched my heart in a way few movies have, and i'll always remember the scenes where matt damon saves thandie newton from the burning car and when the daughter has her "magic cloak" protecting her dad. It was just an incredible film!

Though i loved Brokeback mountain and found it heartbreaking (and Jake's gorgeous :P) the best film won!

    /rant.

  • @ButtHaver1993

You must have not remembered that scene that well. Matt Dillon was in the movie not Damon.

  • The woman in the orange is so annoying. What a moron.

  • I always thought Jack's "Whoa" and the look on his face basically seemed like he was lookin' over to some producer obviously saying "What the fuck?" but almost like he was thinking "How the FUCK did we let that happen??!!!!!!"

  • I always thought Jack's "Whoa" and the look on face basically seemed like he was lookin' over to some producer obviously saying "What the fuck?" but almost like he was thinking "How the FUCK did we let that happen??!!!!!!"

  • HAGGIS!!

  • Give me a break.....CRASH ???

  • I liked Good Night and Good Luck and Munich better but Crash was still very good

  • In my honest opinion A History of Violence should have on but it wasn't even nominated, so i guess that's another mistake for the academy.

  • and the oscar goes to "Trash"...

  • @shinozukeable Actually, it's called 'Crash'.....oh, wait. You did that on purpose! How clever and original!
