  • The pipes never make it into the correct rack position over the frontal deltoids. They're all holding them in their hands.

  • The arms during the press need to be over the middle of the foot, this means that in the endposition your arms need to be next to your ears and the arms need to be shrugged

This is not a bad training, but it's not the best I have ever seen

  • I hate these, can't ever get the right form, even with a broomstick it seems.

  • learn a ton....thanks

  • Fantastic instruction! Thanks!

  • Excellent trainer. He does remind me of the main character from the Showtime show "Dexter."

  • Fantastic trainer.

  • i don't know why, but the term "hip power", or "use your hips", has always bothered me a lot.. it never made sense to me. isn't it your "legs", not your "hips"? i just find it a lot easier to comprehend if you say, use your legs to lift the weight and keep a straight back. i never necessarily payed attention to my hips.. more like just a squatting position/lift, and explosion with the jump.

  • @borednessislife it's more of a way of visualizing the pathway of the force that you're transferring from your feet to the barbell.

  • @borednessislife If you use your feet to push up in a squat position, you'll fall over. All the force goes straight up your ass (literally), your back won't hold heavier loads, you fall over/hurt your back. You need to rotate a bit from hips on out, otherwise your back won't hold. I am by no means a certified trainer, though.

  • GO!

  • thank you! :)

  • the irony of course is that you need decent amount of expendable income to spend on crossfit classes, and by the time one makes this kind of money they are already totally out of shape from sitting in the office all day. So meanwhile people like me have to learn how to do these lifts from videos and whatnot.

  • @ijuh22 What? If you work 70 hours a week, there is still time enough time left to work out 3/5x a week.

  • Good instruction concerning the push jerk. The only criticizm I have has to due with the initial pull off the floor. During the power clean, the explosive movement upwards begins about mid thigh....not immediately off the floor,

  • Great Vid, will help me tons! Thanks uploader

  • gyms around the country need an abundence of trainers like this

  • wow excellent video,... ive been doing crossfit for about a year and haven't seen this type of instruction

  • This is by far the best demonstration of Power Clean and Push I have ever seen. The difference between "reverse curling the bar" and they way it is really meant to be brought up is very well demonstrated.

Even as I continue to learn this movement, this video is of terrific help. Thanks for adding, timdonahey!

  • This is Jon Gilson from Crossfit Boston/Again Faster. Go to the Again Faster website (google it, can't link here) he has a ton of awesome instructional videos like this one, really good stuff and well edited too.

  • Excellent break down of each component of the lift. "Shoulders for ear muffs" awesome.

  • beautiful Collin

  • lol

  • I honestly don't know much about the Power clean and jerk, and I must say that this video was almost like having a coach right next to me. The best video of instruction I've seen.
